  1. Caught a 2 lb. bass in May that coughed up a painted turtle about the size of a half dollar. First time in almost 40 years of bassin' that I've ever seen a turtle come out of the gullet of a largemouth. So yah, I'll be buying one of those lures.
  2. Daiwa Tierra 2500- Love at first fight. Great drag, no wind knots.use 3 times a week for past two seasons.
  3. Congrats! That will be a great memory for you and a exciting story to tell your fammily and friends. hookset on 3
  4. JT, I totally agree about those public ponds that get hammered.Imagine how many lures that big girl has seen swim by? Catching one that big from that pond,in front of your son, will be a lifelong memory! Oh,and by the way, thank you for your service to our great country, on this Memorial Day weekend. hookset on 3
  5. I like what RyneB said and I'll tell you why. I fish the exact same lake conditions you describe. First off, the more stealty the presentation the bigger the bass. The DT Rapalas and now the new silent KVD HC cranks work so much better than all the brands I have with rattles. For soft plastics, straight tail or do nothing style worms out perform curly tails. Finally, the subtle nature of swimjigs, which are like spinnerbaits with no flashy blades, has made all the difference in the last few years.
  6. I've been bass fishing since the 70's and I have had some of my best days in the rain. In my experience, the worse the weather, the bigger the fish. I fish big spinnerbaits, topwaters and jigs. If you can find an incoming wash or stream, make sure to hit that spot throughly.A lot of critters get carried into the lake or pond during a good soaking rain. Finally, that is when I hit all the golf course ponds, because few, if any one, is playing.
  7. I agree with NBR. I've had my Berkley spooler for 20 some years as well. the spooler is nice becaus it keeps everything you need right in the same device.line cutter, old line remover, spool holder. I couldn't be happier with the usefulness of this product over all these years.
  8. Fighting Frog in Talapia color= my go-to flippin bait. Bass engulf these things. I think the profile is more sunfish or bream like.
  9. 0-2' Mann's 1 minus Elite color sunfish 2-3' Norman's Thin N color-redear sunfish 3-4' KVD 1.5 silent color sexy shad
  10. Like Chris at Tech said, the Strike King Shadalicous is a pretty darn good bait for mass-produced. I too, cut my own belly slice in them. Colors Clear water-sexy shad, blue gizzard shad. Size: 4.5 inch
  11. Yum Wooly Bugs and Big Bite Baits- Fighting frog.
  12. Love Bombers. I always swap out the trebles to either Owner ST36 or Gamakatsu short shank EWG. really sturdy lures that last a long time.
  13. Squam Lake New Hampshire,During the spawn in late May, 75 degrees fishing for smallmouth on beds in gin clear water. Perfect!
  14. The Yum F2 Wooly Bug works great. In the Bama bug color on my first try with the F2 I flipped up a 4lber. If Walmart has the LPT Yum baits for $2.00,then I'm gonna take a ride with the bait monkey. Money craws; Wooly Bugs; Dingers and Tubes have been some of my favs for the last two years.
  15. Nice birthday present, huh! Bet you won't forget that one. For New England, that is a hawg.Congrats.
  16. ;D ;D B Fin, I just fell out, when I read that.
  17. River to sea makes excellent quality lures. Give it a try, it's a different look, that's for sure. Florida has lots of gold fish that have been dumped in the canals by people that get tired of the whole aquarium thing.
  18. save up your $ for some Booyah's. Good value and really gets the strikes.
  19. The Swim Shad gives bass something different to look at. Works great in clear, highly pressured bodies of water. Definitely hooks bigger bass on average. It is very subtle and natural looking, as it swims.
  20. Hey, you won fair and square. That should payback the bait monkey a bit. Congrats!
  21. Welcome Jim, you picked a great forum to learn about bass fishing. Those pop-R lures make for some exciting surface strikes, so let us know how you make out. Hookset on 3

  23. That bass surely makes the long winter a little easier for you to tolerate now. Keep it up.
  24. Huge Lunker! That gill is a stud,it's no wonder she wanted it. Nice funnel reference, I will be sure to practice that,as it makes perfect sense. Thanks, hookset on 3
  25. I found a bunch of KVD videos on You Tube, including the BPS Bass Pros series. They also give you the topic in the description section. That makes it really easy when doing a search. good luck Big Bass. P.S. I crank clear water all the time, and your right about the advice from our Bass Resource brothers; priceless!
