It is most likely as J Fracho said. The project is probably federally or state funded. Anytime that type of work is done background checks are usually required. You will have to ask if they keep them or on record or not. If you have never done anything, or plan to in the future, I would not worry about it. Some people actually have their prints entered into the system as a precautionary measure. Many employers require the same thing nowadays. I work for the PA State Police so I of course had to have an extensive back ground check, but my wife has worked at several financial institutions and they have all required finger printing as well.
  2. I agree. While it is not the same type of relaxing as say lounging on the beach, or sitting around a campfire I find myself significantly less stressed after a day of fishing. I may be physically and/or mentally drained, but when that is the result of something I enjoy doing I feel more 'relaxed' as a result. So I guess that is to say that while I may not find the physical act of fishing to be relaxing, the overall experience can be.
  3. Avid, if you look at the 1st link I posted under the freshwater bass, mixed species it shows that a 62g fillet has 628mg of Omega-3. A 3oz piece has 861mg.
  4. I found these 2 sites that have some info: http://www.nutritiondata.com/foods-Bass000000000000000000000.html http://www.calorie-counter.net/fish-calories/bass.htm
  5. If I am on the river - Rooster Tail or other similar inline spinner. This year it has been the 1/4oz Vibric Rooster Tail in the frog pattern. Everything hits that thing. In the past month I have caught numerous smallmouth, catfish, walleye, and a musky(unfortunetely didn't get it in the boat). My Dad even got his personal best smallmouth on it, 21.5in, 4lbs (spawned out), just this past weekend.
  6. Typical lifespan is around 7 years.
  7. Have not tried the seeker version. I have had good luck with the wildeye swim shad in the 'bunker' pattern though. I have caught quite a few nice size smallmouths with them this year. I have also caught a few walleye on them.
  8. Here is what I have found in some articles on the subject: Order of light penetration from least to most: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, Blue. In clear waters, blue light between 440 and 490nm is attenuated the least, while orange and red light (590 to 700nm) is attenuated the most. In coastal waters, more blue light is absorbed due to more suspended matter and phytoplankton in the water, and green light penetrates the furthest. From this information it seems that in clear water conditions blue would be seen the deepest. In water that that is stained or muddy green would be the last color to be seen at depth. Edit: As far as black goes I think it would always be seen the deepest as any light that can penetrate would be absorbed. What I am confused about is say you have a something red. Since red does not penetrate as far the object would absorb any available light and appear to be black. Does that mean that the color does not matter because if its natural color cannot be seen it will just appear black anyway?
  9. Yep, I have heard of them. They are a sponsor of this site. http://www.bassresource.com/fish/advertisers.html
  10. I sent a PM to Bobby asking the same thing. He told me he is looking into it.
  11. Tackle Warehouse has the casting versions. $99 - 109. http://www.***.com/catpage.html?cref=1717
  12. Lol. He did put 'slang" in the title and a lot of slang is not necessarily politcially correct. Anyway, I never even actually answered the question. Most of what I use has already been said, but how about "They were practically jumpin' in the boat".
  13. Dude, Raped? Really? Grow up. I have heard this term used frequently. It is not used in the context you are thinking of. By definition it can also mean to plunder or pillage.... It's in bad taste, no matter the context. I never said it was in good taste, and I personally don't use the term. I am just saying I hear it from time to time and can understand how it is used in this context. Just the way words like destroyed, killed, and murdered can be.
  14. "Lunkers Away!" "Hooked on Hawgs" "Hawg Heaven" "Back That Bass Up"
  15. Dude, Raped? Really? Grow up. I have heard this term used frequently. It is not used in the context you are thinking of. By definition it can also mean to plunder or pillage. It may not be the best choice depending on who you are speaking to, but amongst friends I do not see a problem with it.
  16. Dang! That' takes some skill to land a fish like that on 4lb mono. It was mostly alot a patience, and a bit of luck. He hooked it right in the corner of the mouth with an 1/8oz Rooster Tail. The way that it was hooked the line did not wear on its teeth much. It ran down river and he had to just keep following it. Just as he got to some shallow rapids there happened to be someone wading there and he asked the guy to hold the boat. Luckily the fish had tired enough and he was able to get it close enough to net it. This whole process took close to 45 minutes.
  17. Nice. Awesome fish. I actually hooked into my 1st musky 2 weekends ago, but lost it. My Dad and I estimated it was right around 40". It was a short cast on the edge of a small rock outcropping (thought I was snagged at 1st) and it immediately tried to go under the boat. Got it turned around, but it came up, rolled and cut my line. I was using a medium spinning rod with only 8lb mono, but I think it was partially my fault as I was not prepared for something like that. Next time I will be, and I know it can be done on lite gear under the right circumstances. My Dad caught a 46" on 4lb mono a awhile back.
  18. It depends on the package. Some things require signatures in person. Some examples would be Dell computers, and things that require someone over 21 to sign. When I worked for UPS I would always write on the note why a signature was required in person. Your other option is if you have a neighbor you trust you can leave a note telling the driver to have them sign for it.
  19. '86 Ford Tempo '90 Ford Probe '89 Ford Thunderbird '94 Chevy Camaro '98 Ford Escort (Wife's car) '98 Contour SVT '03 Ford Escape (Wife's car) '06 Audi A3 (what I am driving now) '08 Toyota RAV4 Limited (Wife's current car) As you can see I had mostly Fords until recently, and for the most part were excellent vehicles. I really enjoyed the SVT and if Ford would have had something similar when I bought the Audi I may have purchased it. The Audi is an excellent car though and quite a lot of fun to drive.
  20. Ok. Thanks everyone. All my older rods have Mitchells on them, which I always thought were nice, but just don't compare to the Pflueger. I figured I should try a few different brands to see what I prefer. I will probably just go check some out in person this weekend. Bought my 1st baitcaster last week as well. That is an Abu Garcia Revo S. Working out well so far, but I just need a lot more practice to be comfortable casting with it. Did catch a walleye on it the 1st time using it so that gave me a bit of confidence.
  21. Thanks for the quick response. I do have the Pflueger 6730x, but was thinking about trying a Shimano to replace one of my older reels and wanted something with a similar size to the Pflueger.
  22. Are spinning reel sizes standardized? Meaning, do 3000 series reels from different manufactuers have the same basic size profile? I ask because I have been looking at reels online and have noticed that the same size reels have greatly varying line capacities and didn't know if this was just dependent on the spool size or the reel overall. Example: Shimano Sahara SH3000FD - 8/170 (lb/yds) Pflueger President 6730X - 8/100 (lb/yds) Thanks
  23. You ain't kiddin' about losing losing weight workin there. A few years ago when I got laid off from my job I worked at UPS on the Preload, and then delivered full-time for awhile. I lost 35 lbs in about 5 months.
  24. Storm Swim Shad. I was fishin' on the Susky this past weekend with my Dad and my usual combo of tubes, jerkbaits, and inline spinners were not producing. I tied on a swimbait my Dad had given me and ended up catching 8 SM in about 1 1/2hrs. Two of which went about 3lbs. I went and bought some after that.
  25. I agree that it is never to early to take your child fishing. We actually just took my daughter for the 1st time last weekend. She is almost 2. We got her a little Dora the Explorer rod, and I taught her how to reel it in the back yard (it came with little plastic fish to practice with). We have neighbor with a pond that is just loaded with blue gill. She can't cast yet, but she was able to reel in a few. She had a blast. She kept telling me Daddy get green fish. She knows bass are green.
