  1. One other comment: there is a difference between - being designed like a winch vs. - the design is more winch-like than other designs History doesn't lean towards the originator designing it to be like a winch, but rather the design ended up closer towards a winch than other designs. There is a difference.
  2. My thoughts are that it is not that the line will scare the fish, per se, but the bigger/smarter/more pressured fish have learned to leave potential prey alone if they see the line. It's an intelligence issue for the fish, not a fear issue. I have caught fish with and without leaders, but I prefer to use one whenever I can.
  3. Thread: http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/Nylon/Nylon-Thread-Size-A-100-Yrd Thread finish (epoxy) and color preserver if you don't want the thread to fade: http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/Flex-Coat Then go hear and click on the Kevin Brotz link (video) for Part 5: Wrapping Guides and Part 6: Finishing your rod: http://www.mudhole.com/Rod-Building-101 If you wanted to add a hook keep to your order: http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/Hook-Keepers Since it's just a hook keep, you could probably get away with sewing thread if you really wanted to. Also, if you do the above, you can now do 80% of building your own rod. http://www.mudhole.com/Rod-Building-101# If you don't want to do the above, a ghetto approach would be to take your bobby pin and 5 minute epoxy or JB Weld. If you put it at the base of the rod where there's no flex, it'll hold. For a while.
  4. Plastic worm (6" to finesse to RT Anaconda), tube, hula grub, and toads (worked above and below surface). Also, have you tried different colors/sizes of senkos? Wacky rig?
  5. Don't pay attention to these clowns, they just want to watch you get busted. It's clearly against the rules so whatever you do, do NOT get caught doing that. The horror, the horror.
  6. Well this is a no brainer - since senkos are so cheap, thanks to ***, I'm going to have to go with Mattlures swimbaits. Give me a lifetime supply of those; I'll just buy my own senkos. Now if I could only fish 1 bait, that's a different story....
  7. What I want to know is why the Japanese think so strongly that the Kinami cut-tail is the best bass lure around (with the senko second).
  8. It does look weird but what we think of it is irrelevant; does it cash fish? That is the only question. Then again, many lures catch people and not fish; this could prove to be the opposite in the sales department if the masses ignore the rule above (which is certainly a likely possibility).
  9. I use them and like them, but don't know who makes them for Bpro.
  10. I think he was using a 6" Yum Dinger. Yep; Yum's senko knockoff and the same as what *** sells.
  11. The new tube is supposed to stink - like dead shad. Shelf life is a minimum of 6 future generations of your family tree, per Bobby himself: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1242908445/0 "As for shelf life-You can give it to your grandchildren's grandchildren. "
  12. Here's an Elite pro who trims his weed guards; maybe he's in the 10%? http://www.westernbass.com/dotcom/library/view.html?id=2239 It's at the bottom of the article.
  13. Hopefully Mattlures is paying attention and adds it to his future line-up. Sounds like it would be a great seller.
  14. Just start cutting the line - use an Exacto knife and exercise a little bit of caution and you'll be fine. No need to take the spool out.
  15. I believe Alton Jones rode the senko to 2nd place at Amistad this year, if memory serves.
  16. aka a flik-shake variant. Try it this way and/or with a jig and see if it gets you to your "spot".
  17. These are words of widom; heed them.
  18. Why not give the S (centrifigul) a try? It has the same brakes as the Shimano and is a set and forget approach.
  19. That reel is a killer reel. It's smooth as silk, solid, and not high dollars. Best value in spinning reels, bar none, imo.
  20. It has been almost 2 weeks since this was discussed. I was starting to worry that it might not come up again. Whew.
  21. No worries and didn't mean to sound short if I did. That's just a good thread as it has a number of other threads that are each killer and saves you some on the search effort.
  22. Agree with the M. The M is very light and very fast. The MH is noticeably heavier and quite stiff; overkill for what you will be catching the majority of the time (assuming you aren't throwing 1/2 oz and up sized baits).
  23. Read the various links within this thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1246995483
