One other comment: there is a difference between - being designed like a winch vs. - the design is more winch-like than other designs History doesn't lean towards the originator designing it to be like a winch, but rather the design ended up closer towards a winch than other designs. There is a difference.

My thoughts are that it is not that the line will scare the fish, per se, but the bigger/smarter/more pressured fish have learned to leave potential prey alone if they see the line. It's an intelligence issue for the fish, not a fear issue. I have caught fish with and without leaders, but I prefer to use one whenever I can.

Well this is a no brainer - since senkos are so cheap, thanks to ***, I'm going to have to go with Mattlures swimbaits. Give me a lifetime supply of those; I'll just buy my own senkos. Now if I could only fish 1 bait, that's a different story....

What I want to know is why the Japanese think so strongly that the Kinami cut-tail is the best bass lure around (with the senko second).

It does look weird but what we think of it is irrelevant; does it cash fish? That is the only question. Then again, many lures catch people and not fish; this could prove to be the opposite in the sales department if the masses ignore the rule above (which is certainly a likely possibility).

Just start cutting the line - use an Exacto knife and exercise a little bit of caution and you'll be fine. No need to take the spool out.

I believe Alton Jones rode the senko to 2nd place at Amistad this year, if memory serves.

That reel is a killer reel. It's smooth as silk, solid, and not high dollars. Best value in spinning reels, bar none, imo.

Agree with the M. The M is very light and very fast. The MH is noticeably heavier and quite stiff; overkill for what you will be catching the majority of the time (assuming you aren't throwing 1/2 oz and up sized baits).
