  3. Not bad on a sissy stick
  4. Many anglers with time have settled into a certain rhythm when fishing certain baits mine fits Calcutta 50's 5:0.1 gear ratios.
  5. I'd go with the Skeeter, smoother ride, more stable, & more room
  6. Boat rental on T-Bend would be a problem, Amistad would be a tad bit of a drive And does anyone have any experience fishing it ?
  7. Sounds to me like a screech owl or a crane of some type
  8. I suggest Toledo Bend but time of year would be a major consideration because the big pond can be very nasty early in the year.
  9. Pat & I were back in a little cove one cloudy overcast night in his 15' Alweld; he was up front with me in the back. From where I was in the back of the boat the bank was maybe 15 yards away; suddenly we hear this loud high pitched scream that raised the hair on the back of our necks, then the sound of something crashing through the buck bush along the bank followed by something slashing through the water straight behind me. Before Pat could pull up the trolling motor I had the Suzuki fired up and was ricocheting off of stump not stopping until we were a good ¼ mile off shore. Didn't know what it was but I knew where I aint

  13. Rat-L-Trap will only run at a certain depth unless you stop reeling it; the places I throw a Trap you don't want to stop reeling it. Traps will come through timber very will as long as you keep them moving forward, in order to get an extra foot or two in depth with out stopping it lower your rod tip. This little trick produced a 12.8 this past spring plus a tournament win
  14. While sitting on the edge of the seat I stick about 1 ½ of rod in the water & slow roll like you would a spinner bait.
  15. If you see me on the water & I don't a have a Texas Rig in my hand call a doctor
  16. I fish during the week when it's nice and quite
  17. First you must understand I've fished Toledo Bend for 35 years therefore I waste little time searching. I put the boat in, fire up the big engine, and make a short run to high percentage areas where I rely on electronics to put the boat exactly on deepwater structure where I'll sit far a certain length of time boating both quality and quantity.
  18. Start out by learning the portion of the lake near where you live, study maps of that area and spend as much time on the water as you can. I fish Toledo Bend Reservoir which is twice the size of Guntersville and after 35 years I still seldom fish outside a 5 mile radius of where I stay.
  19. Two handed cast some I learn saltwater fishing : How far? With a 7' rod & a 1 oz weight I can get about ½ a spool of my Calcutta
