I'm not aware of any shad that are red in color? Anyone who knows anything about Toledo Bend knows your bait better have red in it. Red shad, red bug, watermelon neon, green pumpkin red, black neon, crawfish cranks, red Rat-L-Traps, even your shad colored hard baits better have a red belly. Every study ever conducted by anyone that compares different type of lures one on one have shown the plastic worm to be #1 for both quality & quantity. The plastic worm is the only lure made that a BASS CANNOT REMEMBER! That's why it is still productive even after 57 yrs; long after all the others have been relegated to the bottom of tackle boxes or back of closets.

It has been known for years that bass (plural) will actively feed once during a 24 hour period; if you can figure out when this feeding period occurs for the big girls need I say more. The problem is this feeding period maybe any time during the 24 hours so the more time you spend on the lake the more likely you will find out this feeding period.

I don't know who wrote that article but I like George have sat on underwater structure and caught dozens of bass with out moving my boat an inch. I've done this hundreds of time some there is no way it was an isolated incidence.

All I know is that I have better luck on Toledo Bend when the bait I'm using has red in it.
