  1. A friend & I were talking about this generation staring at a screen. Then I realized how many hours I spent staring at a screen learning structure fishing. A lot of us older guys spent literally hundreds of hours staring at a screen.
  2. One of the older guides on Toledo Bend told me years ago for every bass you catch on the bank there's 5 behind you waiting to be caught.
  3. I have both the MP & MB Both will do anything you want easily. $40 more will get you a HyperMag 5.4 ozs.
  4. No sir ? I use down imaging, side imaging, & map study where available. Don't own FFS & have no intention of buying it anytime soon. Tell our marsh bass that
  5. When do you abandon electronics and go fish shallow? Never ? Even when I'm fishing "shallow", I am fishing structure! Structure fishing doesn't mean you're fishing offshore. Structure starts at the waters edge & ends at the bottom of the deepest water.
  6. Ever think of going to their website?
  7. I have a Lew's SS1H 6.8:1 & 2 ea SS1SHA 7.5:1, my grandson has a SS1SHA, & my youngest son has a SS1SHA. All 5 are 3-4 yrs old with zero issues. My grandson & son throw 1/8 oz bullet weighted Speed Craws. One of mine I throw 50# braid & frogs.
  8. @Drawdown Do not under any circumstance throw a sapphire blue lizard anywhere around spawning bass!
  9. When a black-n-blue shirt has a small-medium amount of blue, I'll add a sapphire blue trailer. If the shirt has a lot of blue or is blue tipped I want a black with blue claws trailer. Logic behind it; a dumb Coonass!
  10. East Texas lakes have marked boat lanes, get out of those at your own risk. As good as I know Toledo Bend when I'm outside a boat lane it's at idle speed.
  11. Moving lures: Grass: Rat-L-Trap 1/2 oz Toledo Gold Wood: 6th Sense Movement 80X Shad Drone Bottom contact: Hack Attack Fluorocarbon jig 1/2 oz, Black-n-blue, Rage Craw trailer Sapphire Blue.
  12. Water level 171.82 stained 50-56 degrees Water temperature at the dam is 50 degrees. North of the three-mile Pendleton Bridge temperatures have been running 50-56 degrees. There has been a lot of rain and runoff entering the lake. The back feeder creeks are muddy and flowing. The main lake is stained and clearing. . The bass are starting to move into their staging areas at the mouth of creeks, ditches, and drains.

Would love to see 20# broken but that 3 lbs is huge!
  14. What Did I Do Wrong? Left the house! Despite what everyone says, somedays they just don't bite!
  15. I tend to put more emphasis on the rod. Used a Calcutta for years, casting, flipping, pitching, skipping, & punching.
  16. East Texas lakes are know for eating boats & outboards. I can show you two or three sitting on the bottom right now, so much for level floation. I've seen lower units sheared off, entire transoms with the motor ripped off, can't count how many destroyed hulls.

If you never tried any "name" brand how ya gonna know how good they are? First time I heard of Gamakatsu, I'm like I ain't buying that Japanese crap! Absolutely nothing with H2O products, caught more fish on their hollow bodied frogs than all dem high dollar ones.

I've used their straight shank worm hooks with zero issues.
  19. That's like the third thread on this fish. Since January 1st there has been 19 double digits entered into Toledo Bend Lunker program (Louisiana). That's not counting the fish entered into the Texas ShareLunker program or those not entered into any program.
  20. Only time I've wore a Calcutta 50A out was engaging the reel without stopping it first.
  21. Lew's Tournament Lite LFS 5.3 ozs - 120 yds 12# - 7.5:1 Paired with a Kistler Helium HE7045HMH 7'0" Heavy Medium Heavy X-Fast 3.5 ozs.
  22. You can take a pair of neddlenose pliers & slightly bend the top of the rivet upwards. The blade will rub against it & squeal.
