  1. I got till Halloween ?
  2. Sluggish? During summer the bass's metabolism is at it's highest. This means they digest food quicker & have to feed more often to maintain body weight. I'll step up to bigger baits & heavier weights. Now this doesn't mean subtle presentations don't work. Figuring out how they want it changes constantly, plus there can be multiple patterns working on a single day. Some days the bass don't do what we think they should! Example: Rat-L-Trap Loud, obnoxious, & a fast mover. Yet extremely deadly in cold water!
  3. Ain't bought nuthin in a couple months.
  4. While being able to flip-n-pitch into a cup is cool, I practice a little different. This is the tree line between my yard & my neighbor's. I practice pitching into the openings (5) from various distances & angles.
  5. Non-agressive: Wacky Rig Aggressive: Punch Rig In my opinion both trigger a "reaction" bite. We're throwing something that's not real & trying to get the bass to "react" to it.
  6. Y'all know I'm old school so when I teach someone has to cast I roll up a magazine & tuck it in their arm pit.
  7. Exactly ? Barometric pressure is kinda like water temperatures. Everyone is reading surface temperatures, bass don't live on the surface. Deepwater bass are less effected by frontal changes than shallow water bass.
  8. My wife is crazy about Watermelons, she'll eat a whole one by herself. During peak season I buy 2 a week. Sugartown melons are arguably the sweetest on planet earth & are grown 50 miles north of here. I've tried every selection method known & it's a 50/50 crap shoot.
  9. 3 Calcuttas, 2 Cardiffs max drag is 9.5 lbs. I have em set at 6 lbs. 6 Lew's reels, 3 the drag is 15 lbs, 3 the drag is 20 lbs. All are set at 6 lbs.
  10. Mosquito Bites Very hard to feel even with the most sensitive rod...oh wait wrong thread! @Captain Phil pretty much nailed it
  11. First light to y'all is the sun breaking the eastern sky. First light to me is the moon on the horizon.
  12. Find your creek channels & search from deepwater to shallow. Start in areas you were catching & expand outwards 360°. Maps are nice but ya gonna have to find em by spending time on the water searching.
  13. First light ? Feburary cold cloudy misty morning Rat-L-Trap 12 lb 8 oz no pictures. Mid-March 8:30 am cloudy 8" Black Neon worm 11 lbs 3 oz
  14. Not a lot of confidence in your choice? Y'all want the "best" $200 reel on the market go get ya a Calcutta 100B.
  15. I can hit a bass in the mouth at 30 yards!
  16. First light during pre-spawn/spawn is magical but so is a full moon on the horizon during the Dog Days of Summer.
  17. And you don't think what you use is the best? They all make good reels in any price point. My first Shimano was a Bantam 100EX with rosewood handles. Shimano has produced some crap over years but so has everybody else.
  18. Crankbaits ? I don't know I just have a hard time tying one on. I know they work & I have a good selection. I know it's weakness ?
  19. Nope! 50 some odd years if looking at everything from flashers to 3D depth finders. GPS & Spot Lock are huge advancements.

There's this notion that when throwing soft plastics the lightest weight you can get away with is the best option. Or they base weight selection off water depth. Both on occasion can be true but both on occasion can be wrong. Rate Of Fall regardless of water depth or time of year is key to getting bit.
  21. I totally agree with @A-Jay on this one. I fish a lot of offshore structure both at night & during the day. One might think I'm making a "lob" cast at just structure. In reality I'm casting at a specific stump, laydown, brush pile, or whatever. Not only am I 25-30 yards away but the target is 15-20' under the surface. This is why you learned bouy markers.
