  1. I've broken 1 & that was 10-12 years ago. Bank fishing, standing under a cypress tree, could only side arm cast & set hook side arm. Caught a 6# bass about 20' from my feet, calmed her down enough to lip her. Should have grabbed the line instead of using the rod. Told myself, not a good idea, self said hold my beer I got this. Problem was I don't drink & I didn't have this. Did land the bass!
  2. Berkley Big Game Abrasion resistance & shock absorption
  3. It's a non-issue for me Cold water temperatures down here doesn't last much more than a month before it starts warming. Bout midway through the bass start moving into early pre-spawn.
  4. @gimruis Can't speak for anyone else but another day with my Dad is a win. From @JHoss comment his Dad has quite a bit of experience & is highly coachable.
  5. I would give anything to fish one time with my Dad.
  6. "If you worry about what might be...and wonder what might have been...you will ignore what is."
  7. @Aaron_H I can do it easily sitting on the front seat in my jon boat. The reasoning for wanting the additional depth is because if the bass want a 1/2 oz profile & not a larger one or yo-yoing.
  8. 3 Advantages Able to fish year round Sam Rayburn Toledo Bend 3 Disadvantages 3 ruptured disc
  9. Down here a H&H Sparkle Bettle on a lead head is killer for Speckle Trout, Redfish, & Flounder. Now it's called Damiki Rig
  10. My thought process has always been what's normal & who gets to define it. I can promise y'all "normal" ain't Catt! I've freaked freinds out by throwing a 1/4 oz rat-l-trap in the marsh in 2' of water by holding my rod tip high & burning it just under the surface.
  11. Y'all laugh but kneel-n-reel absolutely works for getting a trap a couple of feet lower. I hear it said, "just let it fall", that will work but sometimes the bass want a steady retrieve not a "yo-yo" retrieve.
  12. @woolleyfooley The top picture is Big Red's Flying Jig. These are no longer in production. I like em because they are 1/4-3/8 oz. The middle picture is a Strike King Swinging Swim Jig. BOSS Weed Eater punch weights are excellent & come in 1/4 - 1 1/2 oz
  13. @Motoboss I call it establishing the rhythm Rhythm is the regular repetition of a pattern of sounds, words, or movement What I've written here is where I start, it may not be how I finish. Figuring out the rhythm, the speed, the movement, or whatever ya wanna call it is key to getting bit. As mentioned above it changes daily.
  14. @Reel that's why I like team tournaments, one of us is always on, but lookout when we both are!
  15. Movement without Movement I want to create movement in the skirt/trailer with minimal forward movement. I don't "drag" a jig or a Texas Rig for that matter. When I want the jig to move forward it's with 3 fast short hops/strokes. Then it's back to Movement without Movement!
  16. Which is why I quoted you This is one those subjects that ain't got no answer.
  17. A must have in my boat #1 over the side #2 we heading to the bank!
