  1. Highly suggest you watch Greg Hackney on YouTube.
  2. Not necessarily All predators were young once. Often times immature bass will streak though the bait ball wounding some. The mature bass will lay in wait below.
  3. @Ohioguy25 Didn’t say larger "baitfish" chasing smaller ones. Predator chasing prey! Big ones eat little ones, you know that whole circle of life thing.
  4. Anybody know if the lake is still there?
  5. Diawa Tatula TTU731MHFB 7' 3" Medium Heavy Fast Medium Heavy is good enough for Rojas it's good enough for Catt.

  7. Two thoughts behind the longer middle wire. First is as mentioned above; slow weaker, wounded baitfish. Second & the reason for a larger lure on the trailing hook. Predator chasing prey.
  8. @woolleyfooley Do you know the types of grass in your waters? How dense is it during peak summer months? It's quite possible 3/8-1/2 is enough maintain bottom contact.
  9. Additional tips: Depending on water depth & type of "grass" you may need to keep your cast more vertical than horizontal. If you don't have a lot of experience with jigs in the 3/4-1.5 oz range I highly suggest you start practicing now. It's kinda difficult for a newbie to adjust to weights this size. Of all your equipment I think your rod is the most important. Not only for feeling bites but it must have the backbone to move fish & grass quickly. Ya wanna turn that bass's head & get her coming up in one motion.

  11. How about long & fat

  13. I find 6th Sense crankbaits deflect off "cover" better than other crankbaits. My #1 is the Movement 80X.
  14. Absorption: the process or action by which one thing absorbs or is absorbed by another. "shock absorption" Highly overlooked aspect of fishing lines. 20 lb line & below Big Game is the best at absorbing shock.
  15. Ain't but one way to brew it.
  16. Ain’t but 2 😉
  17. It stared for me back in the 70s when I use to make lures, one night I decided to stuff a bullet weight into a rubber skirt. It was so difficult I gave up after only making a half a dozen. This little trick when paired with a craw worm won me many a tournament. Scott's Marina on the Texas side of Toledo Bend is a one room building, a small wharf big enough for a couple jon boats, and a launch. Scott sold Community Coffee which is the #1 coffee of Cajuns and why I hung around. He had maybe a dozen packs of worms, 4-5 spinner baits & traps. On one particular morning I noticed some new lures lying on the counter, I picked one up & the little card read "Big Red's Flying Jig". Inside was the lead head of a spinner bait, a skirt, & a 3/0 offset hook with a hitch hiher attached. I bought em all! This was the perfect answer to putting a skirt on a bullet weight!
  18. Down here it's called a "Texas Rigged Jig" & has been around long before skirted "punch" rigs. Don't know what @A-Jay calls his.
  19. @JHoss Yes sir but it will not have the egg swollen belly. Some bass are simply built long & skinny while others are short & fat. A typical marsh bass down here a generally short & fat. Both of these bass weighed 11 lbs 3 oz., mine was post spawn from a marsh, the other is from Oklahoma.
  20. Skinny fish could simply mean post spawn.
  21. IDC...I don't care 😉
