Advice for this time of year in FL????
For sure their just coming off of the spawn. Ive had a slow bite at my favorite spots here as well. I have noticed many empty beds the last couple of times out though. I have also seen a few stragglers on the bed as well.......should be getting better soon!

My son's first fishing trip
I must say......totally awesome! Getting a pole in his hands at that age is great. My pops had me catching fish around the age of 4 (he told me my first fish was a bullhead). I started fishing on my own and avidly since about 10, and i'll never give it up!

When to use a 10 inch worm
In my secret "lunker lake" (as i have named it), i toss a 10in red shad culprit along the shoreline at dusk, and move it as slow as possible. Dont know what it is about the night falling but it always produces for me.

Polarizd Glasses?
You get what you pay for....for the most part. There are undoubtedly "good" polarized glasses you can find out there for lower prices, but i personally love my vision through my costa del mar's. they'll set you back a few bucks....especially if you get the 580 lenses, but once you try a pair on you will see the difference....(don't know if you have a RX or not but i do, and i was able to get my costa's with my RX and they are wonderful, but then again that will set you back many more $$!!)

Bass Pro Shops Water
haven't tried it...but i'll be sure to stay far away from it now, thanks for the heads up!

Putting line on a spin rod
Sirsnookalot has the perfect solution to your problem. Soaking the line works wonders and i always add tension too.
-
Braid Knots
tying the braid directly to the lure, etc.... i stick with what seems to be the consensus here...palomer.....although i have never tried the whole burning aspect of the tag end. I have never had the palomer fail, so why fix it if it ain't ... well you get the point.

How often do your rods snap?
Been fishing a little over 16 years, and fished the cheapest rods up to medium quality (i never invest too much and to this date have not broken one yet..........but now that i say this im sure it will happen very soon.

Plastic Worm Dilemma
I dont carry any of the worms you listed....but i will say my favorite is anything made by Charlie's. I dont know why but i always have the best bite on Charlie's soft plastics. (when i go for the larger ones i stick with the 10in red shad culprit, and as i read in a post earlier on this thread...its very true, the small ones will definitely still eat the larger worms!!)

Favorite fishing snack?
hands down, water and honey roasted peanuts....and on occasion i switch out the peanuts for some peppered beef jerky..

Don't you love these guys ??? :-)
personally i kinda like the guy whose just blowin smoke, cause i always have some larger fish pics on my phone. It usually gets the same response....."oh crap, that was a beast..." or something along those lines. But every once in a while you run into someone who can back their claims up....which is quite fun because it lights the fire in your belly to find the lunkers.......fish on my brothers!!!!

Sleepwalking doggie style.
great one....totally awesome!!

fishing in the rain
I personally love fishing in the rain (minus lightning of course). I typically throw the same baits as usual, but do seem to get better responses with topwater. If you dont mind getting wet then go for it, the fish are always wet...they dont care!!!

Just a quick question
kms399, good call man. i hope someone can clear this up for me as well. And who says that i cant catch a crappie on a 10in redshad culprit?
-
is it me or does this look....
For sure a bass......quite embarrassing for whoever produced that one at underarmor (that is if they ever catch on to it.)
-
Good all around reel
If your ok with spinning reels then hands down i would say shimano saros, you can go with higher shimano models but this would be out of the price range specified. (i own a saros 3000 and use it for both fresh and inshore salt......its been amazing to say the least).

Snakes
Just have to throw it out there..... I love the "me, snake, and game warden pic." Should be one of those "priceless" commercials if you know what i mean..
-
Bass Fillets
Agreed....bass are great pan fried ( and within size limits).... The larger ones should always be thrown back though...I love them dipped in an egg wash then put though plain corn meal, fried in olive oil then sprinkled with the old salt and pepper,,, when eating add a nice piece of raw yellow onion and your in the money,,,!!!!!

Just a quick question
Ok... so maybe someone can help me with this one here.... I live in Florida and am not familiar with bass "seasons". I catch them year round.. I also fish the salt and there are many "seasons for snook, etc.." but you can still catch them year round ,, its just certain times when you can keep them. ?so in a bass "season" are you really not allowed to even target them when your out of the "season?"

What does a bass bed look like and how do you see them?
With fairly clear or even slightly murky water you can recognize them from the shore quite easily (polarized glasses will greatly improve this). You will notice a change in the bottom, it will look like a cleared patch of sand usually 1-3 ft wide. Most of the time you will see the male sitting on it and the female is usually near by. From my experience the males are the aggressors, so you can literally drop a worm right in the bed and the male will pick it up just to move it out,,, bam catch him and hold him to the side,,,, then the female will get aggressive... do the same while the male is not on the bed and you will net the larger female as well....(please always throw all spawning bass back and try not to harm them too bad in the process..)
