Frogs with mono?
Years ago, braid wasn't nearly as available as it is today. Lots of people several years ago were hesitant to make the switch over.

Frogs with mono?
If you're in sparse cover, sure you can use mono. Is it the smartest choice? No, not really. Braid gets you that solid hookset that you just cannot get with mono. Before I made the jump to the superlines, I was a strickly mono only angler. There is a gross difference in the amount of fish hooked and landed with braid over mono.

Lox Refuge ?s
I completely understand. I hate making a commitment to somebody without knowing what the situation on my end is going to be. Hopefully everything works out for the best.

Lox Refuge ?s
Ok guys, so we're about a week away from the 21st. I'm personally good for that day. We should probably try to figure who all is going to actually be going. I got a PM from Glades offering a ride in his boat, although it looks like he'll probably be up there late. I'd much rather ride with somebody that's getting up there earlier if at all possible. Longish drive for me, so I want to get in as much time fishing as possible. If anybody going still has an empty seat, let me know. It's not that I don't want to go out with you Glades, I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from. We need to figure out if we're going to do a actual tournament, and what prizes if any. Somebody mention some BPS or Gander gift cards if people want to toss in a few bucks. I'm good with whatever. I could also use an address or good directions to Lox Rd if thats where we're going to launch. Gotta stick it in my GPS to see how early I need to leave.

Glenn's Best Interview
Great interview. I really enjoyed watching that one. Can't beat the theory of "You can't catch fish in a swimming pool."

Nascar, NBA, NFL, etc...
I agree 100%. The Stanley Cup is the hardest championship to win....in ANY sport. x2 Gotta love playoff hockey. Last seasons playoffs were just fantastic. Would be a lot better if the Panthers would make it back to the post season....

George Steinbrenner
Yeah I saw that a moment ago. It went from he's in critical condition to passed away in about five minutes. Sad to see it. Hope you've got a good view of Yankee Stadium from up there George.

What type of plastic worms do you use?
Thats a ridiculously hard question to answer. I've got tons and tons of different kinds of worms. Straight tail, paddle tail, curly tail, etc etc. Really it all depends on what conditions you're fishing in. The Zoom trick worm is basically a straight chunk of plastic with each end being a little wider than the body. Lots of people swear this is one of the most effective worms ever. The Yamamoto Senko is simply a straight worm that tapers from nose to tail in terms of thickness. It's another lure that produces gross amounts of fish each year. Which do I use? Whatever I feel like on that specific day. Pick color based on conditions and weight based on depth. Yesterday I put on a Rage Tail thumper for no reason other than it's what first caught my eye when I was looking at my plastics. I was fishing sheer drop offs that go from 3' down to 30' almost instantly. 1/2oz piece of tungsten on it and whacked fish for several hours.

Megastrike on Baits that already have scent
Megastrike doesn't really have a "scent." At least to me. It seems to be more of a taste thing to fish that make them hold on longer. What it really is great for is lubing up baits so they slide through grass and all very easily. The extra holding power is just a bonus.

My 14' Polarkraft Jon Build(UPDATED 7/18/2010)
Make sure you try hard to remember to install everything you need before carpeting. Theres nothing worse than having to cut a hole in the carpet to install something new. It can be done, but it's far easier to do it all first. Just take your time and think about everything you may want to put in the boat. Make a checklist and start going down it.

Experimenting With Braided Line
I learned that lesson a while back when chumming for Kings. I'll never tie a good knot around the arbor of the reel. I'll either tape it or just do a simple overhand knot that's going to come out with very little pressure. We got hit by something large, could have been a Mako for or a huge King, and it just left. Spooled the reel and when it got down to the arbor, it ripped the reel right out of the seat and went sliding up the rod blank tearing off every guide.

Nascar, NBA, NFL, etc...
Sadly, this years Cup was marred by excessive diving from some teams, and horrible officiating. If you really want to watch some "good" soccer, check out the English Premier League. The season starts in like 33 days. You'll often find very good quality matches week in and week out. Teams generally always go 100% no matter what. Understandably, teams in the World Cup don't go full blast all the time. One mistake and you could be on your way home. This year it was taken to a different level though. Germany and Argentina were the only genuinely entertaining teams to watch. I absolutely love the sport, and even I dozed off during some of the matches.

Only 1425 days until the next one starts in Brazil. Looking forward to it.

Experimenting With Braided Line
Almost every saltwater angler I know uses a larger leader than mainline. Thats an extremely common thing, at least down here in south Florida and in the Bahamas.

Cheap fish finder troubles
Read through this page. Great info on using a sonar. Don't mind the fact that it's showing a color unit. They all work basically the same way. http://fishinweb.com/messages/messages/13028/13028.html?1254779454 Remember, you won't always get a fish arch, even if it's a fish. They have to pass completely through the cone to get that "arch." Make sure you have the transducer angle correct wherever you mounted it. If it's not running level it can throw off the readings as well.

Zoom Plastics
I think the majority of my plastics are all Zoom. I've got an ever increasing supply of Rage Tails though. Throw in a several packs of Gambler baits and a few Yum branded plastics. It's hard to beat the price on Zoom baits.

Zoom Superfluke
I mainly just cast and retrieve. If you like a steady retrieve try using the new style Flukes with the paddle tail. They seems to work well for that. For a steady retrieve, the Swimming Super Fluke on a weighted hook would be the better choice. The normal fluke, like mentioned, is a jerkbait. Just gently twitch it back to you. You can use them on a weighted hook as well, slowly work it back with twitches. It should dart all over the place.

Any World Cup fans???
Simply an atrocious game. The goal by Iniesta was nice. I can't believe Robben didn't score on either of his chances. Spain deserved the win though. The Dutch were hammering them all day long. They should have been down to 10 men early in the game with that flying judoesque side kick. At least the third place game was worth watching.

How do you get rid of the JJ Magic's smell
Lots and lots of prayer and elbow grease with some kind of super cleaner. Some of those foam automotive upholstery cleaners may help out if you let it soak in for a while. Whatever you use, may sure you spot test it in an inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn't change the color of the fabric.

Braided line and heat
Definitely sounds like you spooled it wrong. Either use some mono backing on the spool, or use some arbor tape. A lot of the newer reels are coming braid ready with small rubber strips already on the spool. Do either of those and you'll solve the problem.
