Savvy Vs. Champion
Simply put, yes it is worth it. The Savvy line is a darn good series of rods. Are they overpriced? IMO not really. The reason I like the Champions more besides the better components, are the options. You can get full cork if you want, and a MUCH wider range of choices in rods.

Dobyns Champion 735C....
The 735 has a pretty soft tip for the power of the rod. That's one of the reasons the guys that use them down here like it for moving baits. Makes a hell of a hollow bodied frog rod also. The 736 has a much faster tip, which I personally like more. The 6 power is a beefy rod. It handles all of my frog fishing as well as a good portion of my flipping and pitching into heavy grass. Give Dobyns a call. Richard will probably be able to set you up with what you need. Great guy to deal with.

First Cast And A Nice Peacock
So I stumbled my way into BPS yesterday to browse around. Saw the KVD Squarebills with the photofinish on them and figured I'd grab a few. Stood out on the dock tonight with the Natural Pumpkinseed color. Made one cast and landed this pretty little thing... Guess he really liked that little crank the way he choked it down. That's how you want to see them eat it. Not bad for the very first toss with a new bait. Rod: Dobyns 705CB Glass Line: Yo-Zuri Hybrid 10# Reel: Shimano Citica 200E I'm half tempted to go put the boat in the water and mess around for an hour or two now.

Which Would You Rather?
I'll go with Erie. I've never touched or seen, much less caught a smallie. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while now. I've got just as good as a chance at catching a big largemouth here at home as I do traveling to Texas.. Now if we're talking Falcon........

Warning Points
Don't like it? Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Seems like a good enough system to me. You get far more chances before you get banned now. I could see that as both a good and bad thing, though I'm sure the tiered warning points will certainy make up for the more egregious infractions. Honestly though, who cares? Chances are you know what you're doing when you hit the post button and whatever happens is going to be deserved.

Mono Or Fluro
I just wish I could buy the bulk spools locally. Lol. Heck, I'd be happy finding some 1/4 pound spools. I've got some saltwater gear I need to spool back up. Those 275 yard filler spools just don't cut it for the bigger reels.

Mono Or Fluro
Buy some Yo-Zuri hybrid and use it for just about anything you want. Cheap and effective as all hell. I've wasted a lot of money trying out different fluoros. While the added sensitivity is nice, the poor manageability just gets annoying after a while.

Shimano Cardiff 200 For Swimbaits?
X2 If you tie it properly, you'll be fine. Each person will have his or her own preference. Whichever knot you tie, learn how to tie it right and chances are you're going to be fine.

Show off your Stuff
It really is. That's the primary use I bought it for. It's a very versatile rod also. Not a bad spinnerbait stick. Doesn't do a bad job tossing a fluke either.

Carroll Shelby Dies
Man. That's sad. I enjoyed meeting him a few times at a couple of car shows. Nice guy. Complete car geek. Did a bunch for the muscle industry. May he RIP

Do You Match Your Gear?
Mostly Dobyns rods with Shimano reels mounted on them. Still have a few Shimano rods, a handful of Loomis, and one Pinnacle rod that I really like. Got a pair of Daiwa reels on two of those rods right now that don't see much use. Not exactly frankentackle, but it's the closest option.

Shimano Cardiff 200 For Swimbaits?
Gotta agree with Francho.....again. I was a little leery of using my Cardiff 200 for swimbaits. I've never had a problem where I've run out of line using mono. Since switching out to braid, it's not even a concern. Fantastic feels for the price. My only complaint about them is how you have to pull off the side plate to access the VBS pins. Once you learn the reel though, you'll probably never have to open it up anyway.

You and me both. That's absolutely great.

Gear Ratio For Lipless Crankbaits
Agreed. While I love my Curado 200DPV's for cranking, for some reason I just don't like using them with traps. Not sure what it is, but I never feel like I'm in contact with that specific type of bait unless I'm absolutely going crazy cranking on it. For deep divers though, it just feels perfect.

Skinny/narrow Tie
It comes with being the owner and caring about what happens. If I don't hire good people, the company loses money, therefore I lose money.

Skinny/narrow Tie
Nope. I wouldn't look down on them at all. I'd much rather look at other things first. Depending on what position they're applying for though, a suit may be required. I generally like to tell the person first what type of attire they'll be wearing most of the time. No matter what it is though, I do expect them to come dressed in proper interview attire. As far as hiring one over the other, that's very hard to say. Depends heavily on the person.

Skinny/narrow Tie
Special Events and Production Company Some do, some don't. IMO, wearing a suit to an interview is a good thing. Shouldn't matter where you're applying for a job if you're a professional.

Cheaper Reel For Swimbaits
Cardiffs are a very hard to beat reel for the price. Basically it's a poor mans Calcutta. Great reels. Very dependable. Built like a tank.

Long Sleeves, Hot Weather???
Hmm. That's interesting. Might be something I need to look into myself.

New Rod Suggestions
Agreed. The new GL2 lineup is definitely not worth the asking price, IMO. Nice looking rods, they just seem to underperform for the dollars being spent there.

Goals Of The Year
My only personal goal for the year is to break into the 13 pound range. I came close a few times last year, d**n sure trying to do it this year. Other than that, it's the standard teach somebody new to fish, spend more time fishing with the kids, etc etc. Everything else will fall into place.

Skinny/narrow Tie
Best piece of advice you can get in this thread. Personally, I don't like the whole skinny tie thing, but whatever you go with, wear it with confidence. Make sure you're comfortable in it. I can't tell you how many times I've had people come into my office, dressed impeccably, and looked totally uncomfortable in the suit they were in. Really is funny when you look at it from my side, but I can just imagine what the poor dude getting interviewed felt like.
