  1. Hard to argue with that. I've never had an issue with a bass angler. Mind you, it's not as big of a sport down here as it is in,other areas. I've had plenty of problems with saltwater anglers though. It's amazing how big the ocean is, and how quickly guys will jump all over your if you find a school of Dolphin out in the Gulfstream. Quarter of a million bucks worth of boat definitely does not buy you manners. On the other hand, I've hung out with some guys with equally as expensive boats in the Bahamas and found them to be some of the nicest people in the world. Doesn't matter what kind of boat you're in, we're all there for the same reasons. Some people are just jackasses.
  2. Hard to say much more than its about time. I'm sure there will still be an equal amount of PO'd people this year when team X or team Y doesn't get into the playoff. But it's a good start.
  3. Love the show. Looking forward to seeing what happens next time it's on. It's one of the few that I've really enjoyed in recent years.
  4. Wish I would have checked the boards last night and I would have taken up the offer. I've got some work I need to do around the house anyways. Good luck today. Go get em.
  5. Great fish, Mike. Bet that was fun. This weather lately has been killing me. I'm itching to get out and go fishing, but I'll be damned if it isn't blowing at least 30 mph outside right now. I'd get blown right off the lake. If you and Bruce go to Okeechobee tomorrow, be careful. I'd hate to be out there if its blowing like it is today. You've been on fire lately, Bruce. I bet you're glad as hell you're free until the end of the summer. Making up for some of that lost time during the rest of the year aren't you.
  6. Either one of the two rods will do just fine. Pick the power based on how heavy the cover is in the areas you normally fish. Both of them will work great. I've only got 832 on mine right now because I'm testing it out some. I've notice that it tends to dig in a bit more than other braids, though it is getting better over time. I've had it on for a few months now, it's not bad overall. I still don't think you can beat the performance of regular old Power Pro though. Especially for the price. It's only fault is that it's loud as hell going through the guides.
  7. Bunch of pages of stuff people have done to them.
  8. IMO if I were you, I'd spend a bunch of time doing some research first. You're looking at dropping close to $1000 bucks on the rod, reel, line, and lures. Going off of your post, you seem pretty darn clueless when it comes to swimbait fishing. There are tons of great rods and reels to pick from. Is the Calcutta a better reel than the Cardiff? Yes. Is the Cardiff a bad reel? No, not all all. It's one of the better buys on the market. You're going to want anywhere from a 200 to 400 size reel depending on what baits you're going to throw, what line you're going to use, etc etc. You need to sit down and think about the same thing for the rod. You mentioned Huddelstons. Great lure. But which one? They come in a wide range of sizes. And then they come in different weights in each size. Personally, I like a slower reel for swimbaits and a long rod with a nice solid tip, but one that still has plenty of give to it. Sensitivity is always important in my opinion. I like being able to feel what my lure is doing at all times. A good way to try it out on the cheap is to pick up a Cardiff, one of the Okuma BBS rods, and a handful of quality swimbaits. You may learn that you don't like it and won't be out much cash. Or you may find out that you really like it and want to upgrade at some point. Either way, you'll be able to recoup some of the money you spent fairly easily by selling the cheaper gear.
  9. Looks great, Robert. Love how it came out. I'm digging both of those bottle stands on the top.
  10. The tip may be fast, but you can all but ignore that. Due to the nature of it being glass, it's going to bend a long way through the rod. Do a search on tackle tour for that specific rod. You'll find plenty of user reviews on it.
  11. Or you could very easily make your own steel leaders to fit whatever length you want, Clayton. Will also save a few bucks over buying the pre made ones.
  12. X2 Now, on the other hand, if I'm on a really good school of fish I may be tempted to break something off far more so I don't spook them.
  13. Pretty hard to add much more than what the above posts offer. Growing up, I did a BUNCH of bottom fishing for grouper. Great fighters, even better on the table. If you go out trying to catch them and you're using little rods and reels, you're going to get worked. Plain and simple. Pretty standard fare is a solid boat rod and a pretty quick reel. You don't have time to mess around dragging them out. Basically think of it as flipping heavy grass for bass. Hook em, and just straight up yank them away from the cover. Once you get them away from the bottom, you can relax a little......unless you've got predators waiting in the area to eat as you drag them up. If that's the case, don't stop reeling until the fish is on the surface. Lures, 2-6 ounce grouper jig. I usually use a whole ballyhoo. Generally I'll add one or two more hooks depending on the length of the bait. Squid works equally as well.
  14. Owner Cutting Point. Straight shank, EWG, etc etc. I haven't found a better hook for the price versus performance. I still have some Gamakatsu hooks that see use, but that's starting to get less and less.
  15. I had to do it to each of my daughters exactly once. Just the thought of it now makes them regret doing anything bad.
  16. I'm as die hard Heat fan as they come. I still remember watching the very first Heat game while I was sitting on the floor of my bedroom watching on a little 13" TV..... Saying they will go undefeated is just silly. Maybe chasing that win total record for the year is possible, even that is sketchy in today's day and age though.
  17. A properly tied Palomar has yet to fail on me with any line type. When I rush it and don't tie it right on the other hand..... Bad things happen.
  18. I believe the 764 was made to throw Norman Deep Little N's. So it should handle most of your mid depth and shallower cranks without a problem. A 5 power will handle your deep divers without much problem. I've thrown 6XD's and DD22's on my 705CB Glass with absolutely no problems.
  19. For putting elaztech or 3X material worms on a shakey head with a screw lock, use a lighter and heat up the screw. Will go right on, and it won't come off for a good long while.
  20. I've met him several times. We're not on a first name basis or anything though. I consider myself very lucky to know and to have met some of the people involved with the organization.
  21. 15 pound AbrazX 20 pound AbrazX 50 pound Suffix 832
  22. Hell of a game. Hell of a first four games. Game five...wow. I haven't seen a team put a beating on another team like that for a while. Sure there have been plenty of phenomenal individual games, but wow. Proud of my hometown. Proud of the team I love. Proud of my friends on the team. I haven't heard that arena that loud in a long time. Partied very hard last night. Didn't get home till like 9 this morning. Looking forward to the parade on Monday.
  23. Dobyns 736C 50 pound 832 for now. Citica 200E Oodles of power to winch fish out of nasty stuff. Some people like the softer tip on the 735C for walking style frogs. Though really, I've never had an issue walking a frog with the heavier rod.
  24. I've been using the first one shown in the top video for a while now. Super easy to tie and works great. Ever since I first saw that video, I've been using those Grammy octopus hooks for flipping. Darn good hook right there.
  25. Ouch. Sorry to hear that happened, John. That's just filled with all kinds of suck. Glad the damage wasn't major and nobody got hurt. I'm sure that claims rep is just dragging her feet on getting everything processed.
