  1. Zoom Merthialate trick worm, 2/0 gammie, weightless, fished over grass. Tidal Waters.
  2. Regal man, regal. I know you gave the RmfC shout out!
  3. Nice catch JVM rock-n-it like GarymfBusey...
  4. That is tragic. My thoughts go out to their family and friends.
  5. Wow guys, BASS did an article on our rez! Kudos to our locals who posed for the pic, great lunkers for the photo op! http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/fishingtips/news/story?page=b_fea_dest_BMM0908_Occoquan
  6. Linewinder, The Occ is tough in the summer, carolina rigs produce off main channel points. Senkos and dingers are also a great bait for this time of year. If you fish the rez, fish early or at dusk...
  7. Technique may be the issue here... Fishing grass and fishing structure are two different approaches. The river will produce great fish for some while Fountainhead will produce great for others. Reading this thread tells me your presentation and technique might not be suited for the river. Try horny toads, weightless senkos, and trick worms on the potomac matts. Throw weightless senkos and carolina rigs at fountainhead. Tidal fishing can be very tough as well, the fish position themselves where the current works in their favor. In reservoirs the bass hold in deeper water and tight to structure. Either way each body of water has plenty of fish, it is up to you to figure out what they will strike and where they are located.
  8. Well Michelle this time of year is generally a slow presentation! Weightless Senkos and Carolina rigged Lizards work great just about anywhere. Search the Fishing Forum for any of this terminology and you will find how to tie these rigs and their presentation. To increase your chances of catching good bass, find a body of water that has boat rentals. Boats are a lot of fun and gain you access to a lot of great areas! Good luck and feel free to PM me.
  9. Great catch!
  10. Everyone gets a baitcaster at some point, it's a question of sooner than later. It can be a $100 or $300 they have the same mechanics but different qualities (bearings, ratios, braking, etc.). Start with what you can afford, see if you like baitcasters, if not, you keep using spinning outfits.
  11. NewAngler, Dan is absolutely right, baitcasters take practice and require adjustments. Professional overruns (Bird nesting) happens often, and you learn to carry multiple rods after one becomes decomissioned.
  12. I use spinner baits all year round at Fountainhead. When the bite gets tough I usually C-rig a 6" lizard. If you can use a jig well, that will pay off huge...
  13. New Angler, Depends what type of fishing you do. Spinner baits, C-rigs, Pitchin flippin jigs, crank baits. As always you get what you pay for. Bait caster vs. spinners, as your skills improve you'll want a baitcaster, etc.. You'll need to match you reel to your rod and then get the right line.. Mono, Braid, or Flouro... Your best bet is to do some research and figure out the technique you will use. An all around rig for me is a 6:4-1 baitcaster on a 7" MH rod with 14lb mono. Everyone has different tastes.
  14. Great fish another siteer! Fountainhead has been a tough bite for the past few weeks, JVM had some good catches C-riggin. As far as a Topo Map, they are a great resource as you mark them up when you find good spots. As the summer goes on Fountainhead gets tougher, alot of C-rigs and Jigs will work with a slow presentation of main points.
  15. New, C-rigged or T-rigged lizards, spinnerbaits, and jigs are the primary baits at Fountainhead. As the summer moves on and it gets hotter, you'll have to slow your technique and stick to main channel points. Top water action at Fountainhead isn't as strong as the Potomac, however you will catch an agressive one now and again. The shoreline can be fished but it is advantageous to rent a boat with a trolling motor. On the weekends a man named Smokey works the rental office and will always give great pointers of the week!
  16. Chartrues Buzz Bait ,Carolina Rigged, with a Medium Bobber. JK Ataylor17, normally that intel is dropped via PM. ;D
  17. Fantastic park for family outings, but not so hot on fishing (in my opinion only...)! Try Fountainhead, your chances of catching a biggin will go up exponentially!
  18. Lol... Thanks for the kind words JVM! That Charlie Moore is quite a character. The water was tough, the only thing that seem to work was multiple casts, tight to cover. Muddy water is hard to fish and breaksdown confidence in a hurry. I'm appriciative of the rain though, I definitly don't want to see a summer like 2007! The Rez became a pond that summer. Looking forward to hear how you do on Friday another siteer.
  19. Hey guys, April was fantastic! May has been a bit tough, JVM and I will be out on the 11th to tear'em up. See you out on the Rez! TRE
  20. Sounds like a plan. I've had the pleasure of living/fishing up here for the past 10 years, and ironically im from Chesterfield VA!lol What days work best?
  21. Nice bag! JVM! RMFC!! Hopefully we can produce on Monday!
