You might want to check out the Avid AVS68MXF rod. It has an extra fast tip and rated for baits in the 3/16-5/8 oz. range. I would advise you to take that two hour trip and check the rods out yourself though.

It sounds to me that you have got your priorities in order. First came love' then came marriage , then came the baby carriage. Believe me fishing can definately take a back seat to this glorious occasion.

The rods just came out , I doubt if too many people have them. A s for the reels , I don't remember anyone saying anything about them but I'm probably wrong about that.I guess I just wasted your time telling you this dumb crap.

Bandits are an excellant cheaper bait. I've done well with the rootbeer color.

This whole section is dedicated to small mouth , why would you want to break it down even farther .You either fish them in streams or lakes.Please clear this for my feeble mind to understand.

I have a st. croix fiberglass rod that I use for baits with treble hooks. It's a med. power , moderate action 6' 6" length. Having a rod with a softer tip helps to land the fish when you are using treble hooks. I usually change the stock hooks with VMC barbarians and I usually go up one size in hooks. In my opinion I think I land more fish with this set up but you will still loose some fish , it is just the nature of the bait.

I guess I'm not as particular as a lot of fishermen are but I'll buy Stren superbraid , Suffix braid , and Power Pro when ever I get a good deal on them. I think all three lines are good quality.

Power Pro faded very fast when I used it two years ago , other then that , it is a great line.

I have to agree with you on this. I have one 7 to 1 ratio reel and I am going to relegate it to plastic worm duty. I use a 6.3 to 1 reel for Rat L Traps and jerk baits, but a 5.1 to 1 for other crankbaits and spinnerbaits. I totally agree.
