  1. Just wondering if anyone uses loop knots, and for what baits. Thanks
  2. I've been fishing since I could walk, but started strictly bass fishing 2 years ago. I was always (and still am) trying to learn the most about the sport as I can. I've searched the internet countless times for subject matter, and usually I find it right here. I've been a member on here for almost 2 years and I'm thankful I found this site. All the members are great, the forums are wonderful, and the articles are amazing. I'd like to thank the moderators for doing such a great job here. I just wanted to share this and hope others feel the same way. No other bass site beats bassresource.com!!!!!! Btw... I am not being paid to post this. I just love this site
  3. I personally don't use swivels or snaps, but I see some pros using them. Do any of you guys use them? Just wondering... thanks
  4. the biggest thing when starting out is thumb control. Here's how I learned. I did this while watching tv sitting on my couch..The object of this exercise is to learn " thumb feathering", which is learning how much pressure to put on the spool and when to put pressure on the spool. Attatch a 3/4 or 1 oz. weight to your line, loosen the drag and disengage the breaks. Now hold the rod out straight in front of you, click the button with your thumb on the spool, And let the weight start dropping. You want it to fall at a normal fall rate, but you want to train your thumb to apply more pressure as the sinker is about to hit the floor. You basically let if fall and try to stop it 1 or 2 inches from the ground. Reel it back up and do it over and over and over. I did this for 2 weeks before I ever even casted my rod and I never had a major backlash that the "push on the spool and turn the handle "(as in the above video) method never solved.
  5. for my cork I spray windex on the handle and use a small scrub brush (or fingernail brush) to get the heavy gunk off. then I'll spray them again and wipe them down with an old rag. You may have to do this process a couple times. With my reels I use windex and an old toothbrush, then windex and a rag.Befor cleaning my reels, I strip my line off on baitcasters and remove the spool on spinning reels if I plan on using the line on them. When done cleaning reels, make sure you oil them!!!! If you want to clean your rods, use windex and a rag to wipe down the rod, and q-tips to clean the guides. You could use a little car polish on the rod and buff it off to make it shine ;D. Hope this helps
  6. I rig mine like picture #3. I dont have any jigs with those little bait keepers, I would definitely use the bait keeper if it's there. I guess you could do it any way you want, but yeah, #3 looks the best to me. Good luck
  7. I'd use a 1 ounce sinker and a 1/0 dropshot hook. 70 feet of water I think would be hard to tell when the fish eats the bait and starts swimming away... thats deeeep
  8. A "like" button would be nice, but I think Facebook might have it trademarked...
  9. Love that movie. I knew it was real, But I've never seen it in PA. We have laffy taffy..haha...
  10. I love the south park "naggers" episode. Here's a joke. Two rodents are hanging out poolside when a georgous womas walks by. The one says "wow look at the butt on her" the other replies, "it's nice, but me... I'm a mouse".
  11. yep, but I don't tweet. I like it for updates (obviously)
  12. In the NE part of the country, I usually see gray, tan, brown, blackish, and red. They can also be mixes of any of those colors. Like others stated above, there's only one way to tell... find some...
  13. I believe most taxidermists could help you. They'd either have them or could get them. Or you could do a google search for fish taxidermists...
  14. Im jealous. I can't wait to get out...
  15. What is the dumbest thing you've done fishing? I'd say mine was launching my Jon Boat without the drain plug in. So while i was parking my truck my boat was under 2 feet of water...
  16. Just wondering at what depth/depth do the bass spaw in your local lakes? do spawning depths differentiate around the country (NE, SE, MW, W) or are they all pretty similar?
  17. I know our economy isn't great, but if you are planning on spending 100 dollars on a reel, why go through the hassle of argument and yelling and bickering for another 30 dollars. I mean really... Don't be so d**n cheap. Anyway, I think the rod and reel you got are good.Good luck with them
  18. I have the same problem. A good buddy of mine has horrible breath constantly. Gum and mints dont help at all. I thinks it's either his tongue ring (kinda douchy for a dude), or he doesn't floss. I want to say something in the worst way but I don't want to offend him, and I don't want him wondering " how long did he not say anything for"... No easy way to deal with this subject...
  19. I don't use it, and probably never will.
  20. If your cereal bag tears to shreds,I'd hate to see you open a condom !!!! hahaha
  21. You will see every brand of line posted here. Everyone has their own choice. You just have to experiment for yourself and find one you like ( and one within your price range, if it matters). I personally like yo zuri hybrid ultra soft....
  22. I'm going crazy to go fishing, but I just had ankle surgery and I wont be out of my cast for 3 more weeks, so I have no choice but to deal with it... the bait monkey bites me almost everyday... ordering online...
  23. I'm single. If you go through all that trouble for fishing gear, where do you keep porn? In a secret bunker somewhere? Lol ;D
  24. Just wondering if anyone uses Clear braid, or fireline, and if they like it compared to say a colored braid. Are there any advantages or disadvantages of using this compared to regular braid? Thanks!!!!
  25. It won't. I fish lakes within a half hour of me, and I have a Jon boat with an electric motor
