  1. Spots have some fantastic coloring. They get more agressive as the temp. drops. They tend to school more than LMB. They relate to structure more than cover.
  2. I'm going to El Salto this year so I'll be getting one of them out of the way. I would love to do a fly-in trip to Canada or Alaska sometime.

    Welcome
  5. DON'T rule out weighted guys. Although I throw weightless most of the time if I have the right conditions I'll add weight. If I have a fairly open bottom with little vegetation I'll take a trick worm and rig it wacky with one twist. I'll insert a nail in one end. Having one side weighted will make the worm stand up when you pull it. You will still get that wacky quiver but it will be vertical as it works across the bottom. JMHO
  6. This is a fish my buddy caught last year. Right at 10 pounds. It had about an inch of the shank of an offset hook with a foot of line still tied on sticking out of it's rear.
  7. Welcome to the forums guys
  8. Absolutely. It is my eyes under the water.
  9. I usually start thinking of what I might do that would make a slightly different presentation. A similar bait that is smaller or bigger, more or less vibration or wobble, different weight etc.
  10. My favorite was after working a bait in I burned it the last 5 feet. The fish tried to hit it at the bank, missed and shot out about 3 feet. I just grabbed him.
  11. My and my buddy will go a couple of hours without saying a word and then we'll both talk a little @*^% then two more hours or so of quiet.
  12. If it's during the week I just have fun and fish as long as I can. Usually a few hours after work. Every weekend one day is my serious day. I'll try to get on the water around 6am and fish until 7 or 8 pm. Usually this is a road trip that starts about 2-4am depending where I'm headed. I try to get as much time there as I can.
  13. Don't forget about a buzzbait. Burn something black across the top of that salad.
  14. I'll usually run a crankbait into the wood as hard as I can. If the bite slows down I'll run back thru with a spinnerbait.
  15. You have some good advice here. I'll usually try it a few ways. If it's thick I am flippin'. I'll usually have a 3/4-1 oz. tungsten with a t-rigged brush hog, super hog, beaver or tube. If I have a lot of openings I'll throw a t-rig worm or a senko. Cast it out there and pull it across the pads. When you come to a hole let it fall in. No explosion, pull it up and keep on moving it along. And of course there is the frog/rat bite. Have fun and let us know how you do.
  16. I'd clap my hands, stomp my feet, try to stay in time Ballad of curtis lowe Looking for love at the back of a taxi

  18. 6lb on a littly whippy spinning rod here. My problem probably has more to do with suspended fish. >

  20. I love fishing in the rain. I approach it like it's a change in light conditions and keep on fishing.
