  1. Carbonlite 6'9" ML fast. If there is some grass and weeds you might go Med. With the rod sale coming up and these being on sale you'll have money left over for some finesse baits and tackle. They are light, durable, and sensitive.
  2. I like the Zoom Z Hog. It's a very soft bait but will last for a number of hook ups. Very good in grass and punching pads.
  3. I'm looking to buy a lews baitcaster. Is the Tournament Speed Spool worth the extra money from the plain Speed Spool? If so, why? Looks like about a $40 difference on eBay.
  4. Yes as long as it is working condition since they are given to under privileged kids. But call your BPS to make sure. In the past you give them the reel when you go in and they give you a discount voucher to claim when you check out with your new reel.
  5. I think you can trade in any reel as long as it works and get the discount coupon. I'm planning to trade in a Penn saltwater spinning reel and buy a PQ. It has worked like this in past years.
  6. Zoom...25% off at Academy now, 25% off at BPS sale this Friday....same old packaging...love those flukes, Z Hogs, and Baby Brush Hogs!
  7. Z hogs and baby brush hogs are really cheap for this sale. BPS will have 25% off for the Spring Sale but Academy baits start off cheaper and end up being a better deal. Also Seagur Invizix is $9.99 if you can find it.
  8. Take a look at the Daiwa Aird. You get an extra spool and it casts a mile. I had a Carbonlite and got a lot of line twists with it. I get none on the Aird nor on my Shimano Symetre.
  9. I use 20 lb power pro with a 3 ft seagur invizix 8lb leader. Works real good as a shaky head set up.
  10. Watermelon/red senkos, green pumpkin chigger craws, watermelon orange baby brush hogs, white flukes, rage tail lobster in Falcon Lake Craw color
  11. His jigs catch fish. Great workmanship, lots of variety in both shapes and colors, and he is "hands on" answering questions.
  12. I have a Falcon 6'10" MF XG low rider shaky head that I really like. I use it for shakies but I use it for weightless senkos, mostly wacky rigged. I've had it for about 2 years and really like the weight and sensitivity. I also have a St.Croix Premier 7' ML Fast for Rooster Tails, very light cranks, and small jigs like the Bitsy Bug. I use both a lot if I am pond fishing and like npboth. If I had to choose one, flip a coin.
  13. I store mine in zip lock snack bags. They are pretty small. They hold about 4-5 worms, creatures, etc. I use one bag for each type and color, then label them with a labels I buy at Office Depot like you put on folders. I then store them in an Academy Magnum Worm Binder. This is especially good for me since I am a bank fisherman. http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_516652_-1__?N=272574547
  14. I would appreciate opinions and suggestions for a spinning rod to throw shallow (1-3') crankbaits. For instance, Bomber Square A, Mann's Baby 1, Rapala DT Fat, etc. I was thinking 6'10"-7' medium/fast.
  15. Copolymer Silver Thread AN 40 at 6 lb. Casts far, good knot strength, very abrasion resistant.
  16. Also you might wait until BPS has their Spring sale which I think starts around 2/28. The carbonlites are usually marked down.
  17. I have a carbonlite 7' med fast with a Shimano Sedona spinning reel I've used for about 3 years with no problem. I use it for light weighted Tx rigs and wacky rigged senkos. I've pulled some 3-4 lb bass with no problem.
  18. I use 1 o ring and a 1/0 open owner wacky hook on Gary Y 5" and a size 1 on 4". Also a Gamy finesse wide gap works well. Use a baitcast with 12# fluro on the 5 and a spinning reel set up with 6# copolymer for the 4.
  19. Baby brush hog watermelon orange Reaction innovations sweet beaver dirty sanchez color
  20. I fish wacky rigged a lot. I use an o ring in the middle of a 5" GY Senko, rigged on a 1/0 Owner wacky hook (not weedless) on 12# seagur invizix, 7' medium baitcaster. If it's windy I'll switch to a spinning set up same length rod. I prefer St. Croix Premier. I cast, let them sink (as with most plastics, frequently get the tap on the sink). If I get no bite I reel a little with a little shake and wait. Watch the line because a lot of times you won't feel a tap but the line will start moving. Give it a little side sweep to set the hook but nothing violent.
  21. I don't own a boat so I do mostly open bank fishing and I can cast without obstructions. I'm using tx rigs, jigs up to 3/8, weightless flukes, jerk baits, weightless senkos, and some medium size cranks. Looking to replace a Johnny Morris black on one of my set ups. I've read about the Lews and the new Tatula and both seem great. Looking for suggestions on which to get. I also have a citica 200e and a Bass pro qualifier.
  22. When do know it's time to change your hook on a TX rig, besides starting to miss some fish? Is there a certain number of fish caught? For instance, change after 10 catches?
