  1. Thanks
  2. What happened to the Ned Rig group of topics at the beginning of this section?
  3. Yes it's the knob at the top that you loosen to let the fish play the line. I loosen it and when I pull line out the knob turns with the drum so the drag tightens down. I can reel the line but the drag is real tight
  4. I have a Pflueger Supreme 30 spinning reel. When I loosen the drag the line starts coming off then the drag star turns and the drag locks down tight. I oiled and did some superficial cleaning. Any advice to get the drag working?
  5. I can't wear contacts so prescription Maui Jims but they are expensive. Lens are polarized. I wear a strap around my neck so they don't fall into the water.
  6. I googled "where to donate fishing equipment" and put in my local city and State. I found an organization that provides fishing gear to underprivileged kids. They pay for all shipping and give a charitable deduction.
  7. Siebert is my choice. Mike can help you design some jigs for your needs. Also Strike King Bitsy Flip Jig is pretty good. Tackle Warehouse will probably have a 15% off sale around Memorial Day for brand names like Strike King.
  8. Avid X 6'9" M Xl for super light finesse fishing. Shaky heads , Wacky Worms etc. Falcon Cara T7 Spin Rod 6'9" Medium Fast
  9. Looking for some advice. Just got a Daiwa SV 105 Casting Reel. I have a Dobyns Champion 6'8" Med Fast rated 3/16-5/8 that I was going to put it on. I'll be fishing small Jigs, Bitsy Bugs, weightless worms, and 3.5" Keitech Swing Impact on a light jig head. Water will be shallow and clear. Think this will be a good combo or should I put it on one of my MHs?
  10. Hags Tornado is the best floating worm i have. Great on a weightless hook or a Shaky Head. Great colors and several sizes. Check out at TW
  11. Keitech Tungsten Spin Jig at TW Pair it with a Paca Chunk Very light and small Also the Keitech Tungsten Mono Spin Jig is a very small finesse jig. It's smaller than the Bitsy Bug but very effective in clear pressured waters. I use it on spinning gear Both have really sharp hooks
  12. I tried fluoro on my spinning reel once. I got line twist every third or fourth cast. I now use 20# PowerPro braid with a 6-8# Fluoro leader on one and a copolymer called Silver Thread AN40 in 6# on the other No More line twists
  13. Living in the Dallas area, we have several local fishing stores. One specializes in Dobyns and is usually well stocked. If he doesn't have it, he'll call Dobyns and get it. Also carries Falcon, St Croix, etc. plus all the major reel brands and lots of tackle. I think he carries every color of GY Senkos. We have all the Big Box retailers but I never go there. I'm a lucky guy. I try to support the local guy even though TW has no tax and the occasional 15% sale.
  14. The FR702SF is their finesse rod, but it seems whippy to me. IMHO the 703 is the way to go. It will do finesse well and will give you some versatility with things like senkos and light Jigs
  15. I like his Enraged jig. The trailer stands up well on this head. I use it on rocky or sandy bottoms.
  16. The BPS fishing sale starts Friday but the rod and reel trade in does not start until next week according to the flyer. I called today and they confirmed it. Pretty screwy.
  17. Hags Tornado It stands straight up and has great colors.
  18. I read that Moderate is good for treble hook applications and a fast rod is good for Plastics like T-rigs, Jigs, small plastic swim baits, tubes, etc.
  19. The sale starts 2/17, but in my flyer, the trade in starts 2/23 Kind of weird
  20. I'm lucky to have a few local shops in Dallas. One carries Dobyns, St Croix, Falcon rods. Several years ago the local Academy was good but not really a decent selection today.
  21. I want to back my baitcaster with some Mono before I put on 12# fluorocarbon. Should the mono be 12# too or can it be 8 or 10# Does it matter what pound test the backing is?
