yeah, the shooter was already released with no charges filed. Louisiana has a stand your ground law that apparently makes it easier for people to get away with blatant murder, though im not sure it applies to this case or not. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/12/02/louisiana-law-make-it-easy-for-citizens-to-shoot-to-kill/
  2. clock management has always been a knock against him. but either way he still has won a lot of games. it doesnt help that his QB was throwing up on the field during the super bowl he did make.
  3. in the instance you mention, i dont think its so much about what gear a person has. its about how the person with that gear acts and conducts themselves. Sure, its great that one is able to afford the nice high-end equipment, good for them, but dont make it a point to rub it into someones face who may not be able to afford that nice high-end stuff. Just because one owns that nice high-end stuff doesnt make them a better person than someone with a Zebco 33. Theres no need to be constantly bragging about it, and using it as a reason to put someone else down. Its one thing to say "hey, look at this nice new combo i got" and another to say "hey, look at this nice new combo i got, its way better than anything you own, youre not going to catch anything on that cheap gear youre using". Thats the point youre overlooking. Its the ones who have something better and use that as an excuse to put others down that get heat thrown back at them, and get comments like "i can catch as many fish on my cheap gear as you can on your expensive gear". what do you expect someone to say when a person is using what they have to put someone else down for what they have(or dont have?)? Now, on the flip side, if someone who has nice high-end gear and is humble about it and doesnt use it as a means to degrade or put others down, and another person without high-end gear is making snide remarks about the person with nice stuff, well thats just jealousy and is also unwarranted. and also, correct me if i am wrong here, but i think the OP, when he says bad anglers, isnt referring to ones skill level, but is referring more to their demeanor and how they act as a person...
  4. they may be more productive in the spring/summer when fish of various species spawn. fry hatches and hides in there, predator fish outside waiting for an easy snack. otherwise i have no clue and just taking a guess really
  5. i have the abu 6601 reel with bait clicker. i use it for striper and catfishing. i have it spooled up with 25lb big game. i easily bring in striper in the 25 inch range without problems. havent had a cat big enough to truely test it yet in that regard, but it handles striper no problem...i gave away the old zebco rod i had it on away to my brother in law this past spring. just havent bought a new rod for it yet, it never saw the water this year...
  6. Black friday should only be an issue if you actually go out and participate in it, which i dont do. Unless just the ads really get to you, but even then stuff is advertised year round regardless if its on sale or not..
  7. i dont set yearly fishing goals, i dont want fishing to seem like working or a task, so yeah. I just fish and dont worry about the end all results...
  8. while i feel the same way about the Chiefs, seems like theyre overachievers, theres one thing that people often overlook i believe. and thats Andy Reid, the guy doesnt have a SB ring as a HC, but he is constantly fielding winning competitive teams year after year. I think he is a great coach that doesnt get enough credit.
  9. Coaches have to be able to adjust to the personnel available to them. They have to know their players strengths and try to scheme the players into positions theyre comfortable with. For example, it would be foolish for coaches to try to force players more suited for zone coverage into constantly playing man coverage. So even if a team has the right players, if the coaches arent putting them into position to succeed then things dont work out so well. Also, here lately Rodgers has made several remarks that have been skeptical of his coaches. There is a possible rift there somewhere. The public may only see a puff of smoke but not see the raging fire behind the scenes. The packers arent accustomed to losing in recent years, now that they are struggling there may be some finger pointing going on within the locker room. I'm not quite sure what youre getting at here. are you saying the packers coaches dont have those standards? Belichek has been highly successful in NE, but his way isnt the only way to a SB trophy. Of course a player who gets traded from say, Cleveland, is going to see a huge difference in the standards. But my remark about the packers coaching has more to do with than just the head coach or their standards. They also have had a success with 7 straight years in the playoffs and a SB win along the way, so i'm sure they have some sort of high standards. My remark has to do with the coaching staff as a whole, I dont think their coaches are horrible by any means, what im saying is that sometimes coaches are too stubborn to adjust their schemes when they lose players to injury and dont have suitable backups to properly execute their scheme as its intended to be run. Coaches need to be able to adjust to the players available to them throughout the season. the packers maybe havent done this
  10. i can point out a variety of possible reasons: -Injured players on the o-line, but even then they need upgrades regardless -No running game, aside from poor o-line they just dont have any talent at RB. Lacy, when healthy and not overweight, is extremely overrated, at the same time underused in a pass heavy offense. Starks is a decent role player but not a true #1 workhorse RB. -The secondary is in shambles, Both starting CBs out, and barely average players across the board of those that are healthy enough to play. -Defense lacks talent overall, Clay Matthews getting old and oft injured as well. Packers have given up like 99 points in the last 2 games, and like 160+ points in the last 4 games. -In fact, personnel issues all over the team, lack of playmakers and role players. Young guys are forced into action before theyre truely ready, mostly due to injuries, but also because the GM refuses to utilize free agency to his advantage. And i dont mean going out and spending huge money in free agency, but there are some nice value players to be had who can either start or serve roles. The Packers mantra is to draft and develop, but if you dont draft well EVERY year then youre going to see the results on the field. -Coaching has to be blamed somewhere
  11. ive had this combo myself, except the older model. i used it for everything and it had success. i still have the rod, i gave the reel to my uncle when i stripped the handle threads on one side, i moved the handle to the other side but since i cant/dont reel with my right hand i gave it to my uncle who does, still going strong too...for 20 bucks its not a bad combo at all, it will handle the above fish. the rod is a 7ft medium but its thicker around than a 7ft ugly stick would be...
  12. if im out on a boat, i totally agree. but if im on the bank a lot of times but not always i will throw out a couple lines with live bait, set them in rod holders, and then go toss around a lure for bass for a bit while keeping an eye on the live bait rods. a lot of times the live bait fish hook themselves, especially if im using a slip rig with slack line and the pressure of the line tightening when fish run with it will set the hook itself good enough until i can get over there and drive it home. this also depends on where im fishing too though...
  13. thats an impressive yellow perch, biggest one i ever caught was 10 inches. did have a bigger one follow a pearl white fluke in while bass fishing once, it was chunky looking and atleast 15 inches if not a little more...
  14. How big is this lake? A lot of times big lakes can be tough from the bank, especially if there is no cover around the banks or within casting distance. Also if there is not much structure within casting distance. If there, try fishing stuff like downed trees and around any kind of vegetation, perhaps underwater rock piles or stumps. Also, see if you can find stuff like underwater humps, dropoffs, points, and transition areas. Finding stuff underwater from shore or without electronics can be tough. If the water ever drops low, pay attention to what you can see that you couldnt see before, even take pictures like i did when my favorite lake dropped real low. You mentioned having a canoe, get out on it and explore a bit more and fish from there. also, sometimes dragging your bait from shallow to deep can be impactful when dragging from deep to shallow isnt getting it done. Try different presentations, if the jigs and grubs you mentioned havent been working so well, its time to change up your baits. Try some moving baits like crankbaits, spinnerbaits, topwaters. Try some worms or senkos. Try a drop shot. are you using trailers on your jigs? if not could make a big difference. dont limit yourself to things that arent bringing you success, just because you like them, learn to be versatile, theres a ton of options out there available to you...
  15. seems to me, in the waters i fish, that when the water starts to cool down in the fall, the catfish i catch are bigger and the flatheads like to come out and play a little more in the cooler water. same in the spring when the waters still cool but warming up after the winter...
  16. i agree, id go with a Pflueger when it comes to spinning reels. most times i see a thread with someone having reel troubles, its most always a shimano
  17. This. I will fish for pretty much anything if i have the chance. I love to catch fish of all types. A common misconception that i see is that bass are the only fish that need to be "figured out" or "have a pattern" or "competitiveness" etc..simply not true, granted some fish are easier to target and catch than others, but for all species you still have to be in the right spot at the right time with the right baits and equipment...
  18. fished a super moon before, it was horrible fishing wise...
  19. another bait i got a lot of bites on but had a poor hookup ratio was these real tiny hellgrammite baits with hooks already inserted into them. nearly impossible to cast too. i just couldnt get a hookset with them, but the panfish were tearing it up bite wise...
  20. Where: on the couch How: with one of the many nintendo wii/wii-u bass fishing games
  21. never heard the coffee creamer thing, but even had them die overnight and sometimes almost instantly in an aerated bucket. i actually dont have a proper bait tank. when i do get some they end up as cut bait for catfish once they die lol
  22. the leader is probably not necessary, bluegill will actually attack line(even FC which is supposed to be invisible underwater) and pretty much anything else that moves... the last couple years ive been throwing trout magnets for bluegill and panfish, slays them...
  23. maybe your house is sitting on it?
