  1. Try to figure out why you're having late hook sets. Is your reaction time slow, is the rod too slow, is it the stretch of the mono??? Might be a combination of all. I'd figure that out first, before spending more money. I'd switch over to some fluorocarbon line and see if that helps. It transmits way better than the mono, and I'm sure would help.
  2. That was kinda what I was thinking, John. Hopefully, I can test drive Jeff's and go from there. Thanks.
  3. Jeff, my schedule is more than flexible. You tell me where and when. Scott.
  4. Jeff, I'd love to take you up on that offer!
  5. I have a Curado 50E and was wondering how it would compare to the Core. I know the Core is lighter, but is there $150 more worth of difference? Thank You, Scott.
  6. What reel would you pair that with? I have a Curado 50, how would that work?
  7. I have the 7' heavy xfast that I'm gonna try this on tomorrow. Maybe Guntersville will give me a good test......
  8. I agree about the Citica and Curado. Now if I could just save my clams and test the Core.......
  9. I have the PQ on a Veritas. A very good combo for less than $200.
  10. Goose, it seems like it's luck of the draw. Mine is as smooth as any of my Shimanos. Others say the grinding is horrible. When I got my second one, BPS was out of the for several weeks. Maybe this second run was fixed. I know I was nervous waiting on this one, reading some of the other reports had me skerd I was gonna get a "grinder".
  11. I have a Micro in the finesse jig. I love it and use it for most of my plastic stuff. Sometimes you can tell if a fish is just looking at it!
  12. I got a left handed one when they were on sale a couple of months ago. I had to return it because the drag was messes up. The store didn't have any in stock so I had to settle for a refund. A helpful guy that worked there told me it would be best to order online and have it shipped to the store. BPS was out of stock for a few weeks and when they finally became available, I ordered another and had it shipped to the house. I was nervous from hearing of the stories from others about the rough gears. I got the reel yesterday and the new one is as smooth as greased butter. No roughness of the gears what soever. Maybe the new batch was corrected? Anyhow, the new reel is super smooth and I am happy.
  13. You say that Customs held up the rods. Where are they made? I thought in the US.
  14. I agree with Stasher. I have a Mojo and a Veritas. The Mojo doesn't come close. Don't get me wrong, I like my Mojo, but the Veritas feels a good bit lighter and better balanced.
  15. Another vote for the Pro Qualifier. I iust got one in the 7.1 ratio and I really like it. It reminds me of my Citica. They're even better when they're on sale for $80.
  16. I just played with mine for about an hour in the yard. I carried it to work this morning and douched the spool bearings and used Starrett spray lube. I started with three brakes and the mag on five. As I started casting harder, I was getting a few overruns and ended up with all six brakes on and the mag on three. This gave good distance and no overruns. I wish I would have tried it right out of the box to see how it was. This reel reminds me of my Citica E, real smooth and a bargin when on sale for $80.
  17. I have a Pro Qualifier and some 17 lbs XPS that should be here tomorrow. It will be OK. I ain't worried.
  18. I got mine today. 7/0 flippin hooks and 2 decals. Talk about heavy duty, these are some serious hooks.
  19. On a Sworming Hornet Fish Head Spin. Pull it up and let it fall.
  20. I have the Mojo topwater which is a 6'6" MH fast. I seems to be a very versitile rod.
  21. Yeah, I have the bone Jr in bass color. I like it because you can retrieve it several different ways. I like bringing it back with a real slow retrieve. It has a big wobble that seems to work good. I've also had success working it like a popper. I don't think there is a wrong way with this lure.
  22. I still find it hard to believe that it is machined out of a billet of aluminum. It sound like the wrong tems are being used. In fact, a billet aluminum frame would have to be the most inefficient way to make a frame for a low pro reel. Ninja, this isn't dirrected towards you.
  23. Glad it worked out for ya. These are some nice reels. I wish I had a couple more, I use mine for everything.
  24. Yeah, the "machined aluminum" frames that BPS talks about are machined cast aluminum. They aren't cut out of a billet. I've never had any trouble out of my cast frames. I treat all of my stuff with respect and don't forsee anything going south. On the other hand, I could see where corosion could be an issue with the aluminum and not with the plastic, errr, I mean graphite.
  25. Make sure the brake surface is clean. I had one that was acting funny and it turned out, a little oil was on the surface. I wiped it clean and it was fine.
