  1. I have the Topwater and really like it. A lot of people complain about these rods being tip heavy. I just throw it and don't worry. I think ot's a good rod. If this is your price range, look at he Abu Garcia Veritas. I think they are better for the same price. But, I wouldn't trade my Mojo.
  2. I'd pay $2 more for a decent hook keeper. Heck, I'd pay $10 more for a decent hook keeper. The one thing that I don't like about my Skeet crankbait rod is the hook keeper. It's down below the reel instead of being by the reel. I ended up using the Fuji hook keeper just so I could get the reel in my bag.
  3. DVT, thanks for your time, I appreciate it.
  4. I understand that there is a difference between power and action. What I don't understand is why some companies only list the power and not the action. Is the power more important? And what does the line rating have to do? One of my rods is rated for 10~17 lbs, yet I have 65 lbs braid on it. What gives? Thanks for your help.
  5. I had the same thing to happen to my right knee. I was putting weight on it after two weeks and walking on it after a month. The rehab was two months and wasn't that bad. I didn't have ANY pain after the surgery. The hard part was trusting the knee after I got it overhauled. That was eight years ago.
  6. So, would " backbone" be the same as the power? Just trying to figure out the slang terms.
  7. I'm wanting to know all about rods. I understand about the different "powers" of rods and I think I understand about "tips". Some manufactures only specify the power of the rod while others specify the power and tip. Why the difference? I also hear some people talking about the taper of a rod. Is this the same as the power? Can one lave a low power with a xfast tip? Can one have a heavy power and a soft tip? I'm confused and just curious. Can you help? Thanks, Scott.
  8. I have the 7' and love it. It is whippy but the fish seem to stay glued on. I don't know what a good crank rod should feel like, but this seems to work good for me. It is a little porky at 6.35 ozs.
  9. What we perceive as sensitivity will come down to surface contact. The more surface, the better the sensitivity. If we take two of the same blanks and use different diameter grips, the one with more surface to hold will feel the best. I like the "Megaphone Effect" grip that Airrus is using on their new KW Nano Fusion rod. Another thing they are doing is using a "hard" material for the grip. I've often wondered if cork and EVA would damp some of the vibrations of the rod. I don't know, just my thoughts.
  10. Y'all need to quit! You're gonna make me go out and get one of these. What if I were looking for a good worm rod? What do you suggest?
  11. If they had that reel in a left hand, I would have had one long ago. I'm about to give up and get something else. Maybe they'll come through.
  12. I think the new ones have an aluminum frame.
  13. I have a Curado 50 and played with it some. I was wanting something that would mechanically engage the spool rather than me using my thumb as a brake. Maybe I should just use what I have, it will be cheaper!
  14. I was at BPS in Birmingham and all they had was the one from 2011.
  15. I've started saving my clams for a new reel. I'm wanting one for pitching and looked at the Pinnacle Optimus XLT. I almost pulled the trigger, but hesitated because I really wanted a left hand model. I got to looking at others and saw the Shimano Core 100 MGFV. Then I see it's only offered in a right. What gives? Yeah, I use a right for every thing else but I don't want to have to switch hands when pitching. I can pitch OK with the rod in my left hand, but it feels weird. What choices do I have for a left handed pitching reel?
  16. Those look awesome. Where in North MS are you?
  17. What about the Airrus KW Nano Fusion? That is a wicked looking rod.
  18. You can use a dremel with the cut off wheel. Just use masking tape to wrap where you're cutting.
  19. RW, you keep killin' me talking about this reel! I went to a few places in Memphis last week and didn't see one. I guess that's a good thing because if I found one, my wife would still be beating me. This one is gonna hafta be under the radar.
  20. What about the Pinnacle Optimus XLT? That is a great reel from what I've read. I'm saving my clams for one. Hopefully I'll have one by the spring. It's tough when all of my money goes towards the mortgage.
  21. I have the Falcon Cara Micro in the finese jig paired with the 50E. I like it and it'll cast the light stuff easy. This is my favorite combo.
  22. I have a nice spinning reel that I used for about 5 minutes. Wanna buy it??? I even have the rod. I'll make you a heck of a price on a package deal. The reel is a Saros 2500F and the rod a St Croix Premier. 6'6" and I think medium/fast. It's Christmas time and I'll make a deal!
