  1. I respect other peoples property and give them plenty room. I don't go up and just start fishing, as I've seen other people. I respect their privacy, just as I would want mine respected. I while back, and I can't remember where, I guy was fishing on a river and some property owner told him to stop that it was his property. According to the law, the river was NOT the land owners and the other guy had the right to fish there. The fisherman argued and the land owner got ticked and shot and killed the fisherman. Now, who's the fool? Right or wrong, that guy will never fish again. My object is always be able to fish another time. This is the reason I give people and their property plenty of room. I want to be able to fish tomorrow.
  2. Thats exactly what I do. You can get a pair of Channel Lock needle nose (6") at Home depot for about $12 and they work perfect, plus, they're made in the US.
  3. No worries if you do it with a slack line.
  4. I smash the barb on all of my single hook stuff. I makes it easier on me and the fish. Since starting this, I haven't noticed losing any more fish.
  5. So the lure is horizontal?
  6. Whatcha mean sideways? Do you have a pic? Thanks.
  7. I use them on about every kind of soft lures. My local Walmart had them on clearance for $1.50 a pack and I loaded up! It is a really versatile hook, though.
  8. For a few dollars more, you could get a pack of Zoom Swimmin Super Fluke Jr, and a pack of 3/0 weighted swimbait hooks (Walmart has all of this) and you'd be way ahead of the game. This spring, I have smoked them (roughly 80 LMB on 2 outings) using this combo in white ice.
  9. As others have said, tha carolina keeper is the gig. On heavier weights, 3/8 and up for me, use two keepers.
  10. Having a rod that is "too sensitive" for any lure is like saying that you caught too many fish. It's impossible.
  11. I got my 10E out for about 4 hours this past Saturday, my first real trip in it. I fabricated a rudder out of aluminum and lexan that works great. I have it on a hinge so it won't get ripped off and it's mounted with velcro. The velcro is enough to hold it on, yet is easy to remove. I machined a rod holder out of lexan toady because I was afraid I was gonna knock a rod into the water while fishing. The rod holder will also be attached with velcro. This will keep my reels from getting scuffed and be more secure than just laying them on the side of the boat. I love this little boat!!!
  12. I used to use 50lbs when I fished from the bank. If I got snagged on something, it was either coming to me or the hooks would straighten out. I was able to save a lot of lures this way.
  13. When you say machined, do you mean machined from a billet? Because I don't know of any low profile that is machined out of billet. Everything I've seen is die cast aluminum. To machine a frame out of a billet, you're talking several hours work. BPS used to say their Pro Qualifier had a machined frame. What they really meant was the frame is cast, then the holes are machined on a CNC. As a machinist, it would probably be the most inefficient way of making a reel frame. It would look cool, though! There would be about a minimum of three, different setups to machine a complete frame. It looks to me that most of the reel frames are vacuum cast aluminum. This lessens the chance of pores and other inclusions.
  14. I have a Lamiglas Infinity Bass 735 (with a Core 51) for weightless plastics. I throw all of my weightless stuff on this except Senkos, which I have a different combo for.
  15. Although I have many colors, the watermellon black flake and green pumpkin are my best. I like the 4" and 5" rigged either taxas or wacky. I've caught so many fish with these that I have a combo just for this, a Curado 50E on a Falcon Cara micro T7 finesse jig with 8lbs Inviz X.
  16. I have the 201E5 and love it. Buy with confidence.
  17. Small ponds are all I fish. My best producer is a 4" Senko either wacky or texas. Watermellon magic and green pumpkin.
  18. I just got a Crucial crankbait rod, 7'mh/mf and love it. I've got about 2 hours with it and it does cranks really good and seems like it will be a versatile rod. I just wish the handle was a couple of inches longer.
  19. I spray it on the night before I go and then when I get back from fishing. So, before and after.
  20. I like the wacky saddle kit. Using one oring puts the hook parallel with the worm, where the wacky saddle puts the hook perpendicular to the worm. I was loosing a lot of fish with one oring and I didn't like using two and crossing them. The kit was the answer I was looking for.
  21. I have the Veritas 7' heavy Xfast. It doubles as a chin up bar when I'm not fishing with it. I really like it and think its a great rod. TW has them for $80. What are you gonna use it for?
  22. Tha Pro Qualifier is $70 at BPS right now. Get two of them in different ratios and double your fun.
  23. Their floating lizzard works good on a jika rig.
  24. OK, maybe he'll show up and give us an update. I'm ready to try some.
