  1. For finesse jigs, I like to use a 7 ft H rod for that extra power. It's a little different from what others use, but it gives me confidence that I will not lose a fish. For Bigger/deeper jigs I like to use a 7'6 H. As far as a reel, ALWAYS use a higher gear ratio. This allows you to reel in slack line more quickly to get that hook set. The I use more the most part is 14 lb braid with a 12 floucrabon leader.
  2. I agree Buckeye and North Star are my two favorite Mop Jigs, but if I had to pick one it would be North Star because of the realistic factor. When it is standing on the bottom, the skirt/hair are constantly moving, which of course helps the bass think its alive.
  3. Thanks Raul and J! Anywhere you guys know of where someone would want to buy them?
  4. x2 on the hippy jigs! I always use a trailer; whether it has subtle or erratic/enticing characteristics depends on water temperature. Also look at the profile of the jig (profile includes trailer). Make sure you are using the right size bait for the lake you are fishing. For instance, if I am fishing for numbers over quality, or high pressured situations, I will size down my jigs and vice versa.
  5. That's exactly where I got them from! Forgot to mention the lazy ikes, but I'm just trying to figure out if any of the other ones are rare enough to try and get some extra cash
  6. Anyone know anything about these lures? Are they worth anything? I believe some of the, are old heddons and a jitterbug, but the other ones I'm not sure about Thanks, VC
  7. Same! I'm going to have to admire my Dobyns 765 flip every time I walk into my room without being able to use her :-/
  8. Good bait. I like to burn them through the pads like a frog

  12. ABSOLUTELY! These are a close second to pointers for me, but the perch colored x-rap deep as caught as much or more then my pointers. Definitely stock up! Also I am confused about an earlier post that said they seemed too light to cast??? Has anyone else had this problem? I can chuck them a mile
  13. Flipping: Brush hogs Sweet beavers Punching: Brush hogs w/ a punching skirt
  14. This might be a suprising idea, seeing how most people use these as trailers for spinnerbait, chatterbait, etc, but it is very subtle and my favorite cold water "big jig" trailer Split tail
  15. Agreed. Those guys are awesome. When I was putting my order in over the phone the guy I was talking to would put in his two cents with almost every product/color I wanted. It was great hearing someones point of view that new first hand what he was selling.
  16. In cold water situations, like you said, I pretty much never have a top water bait on. But when I do it is a Pop-r. The reason is because of the pace in which I like to fish it. Popping the bait and waiting 10-15 seconds aggravates the heck out of those sluggish fish. So overall I like to think of it as a sllllooowww technique that forces those fish to bite, and in some cases that's the only thing that works for me.
  17. If line capacity isnt your number one priority, try out the curado 50
  18. I've been up there a few times, but not enough to comment on where to fish, you catch them EVERYWHERE in the boundary waters. What are you going for? Muskies?
  19. If maintained, how is the casting ability compared to the newer chronarchs?
  20. Specifically the 100A and the 100MG models. What are your thoughts? Never used this reel, and I am looking for some quality vintage Shimano reels
  21. x2. RW got me into this combo and its like a match made it heaven
  22. Wanna buy me a few(6-8?)in assorted colors and stuff em in a flat rate box and get em to me? I'll pay for shipping. If I can make it out there today I will for sure. The only problem is we have a foot of snow and the roads are a sheet of ice.
  23. Dobyns Savvy Flip. You would be able to get this rod with the %20 off sale at TW
  24. Just called and like the others said they would, TW got my order over the phone and got my problems with the gift cards squared away!
