The end
Yes We made it!!!!!!!! No disrespect and I almost feel guilty as we don't have it nearly as bad as as many for example in the broken fin fishing thread but 26 solid weeks of in hospital stays spread out over 1.5 years aside our daughter Chelsea finally completed her degree and graduates this Saturday with a 4yr degree in nursing. Many of you sent well wishes and said many a prayer for her. For that my whole family thanks you and are deeply appreciative. If times pick up one day I might start a $500 scholarship in her honor for " the most tenacious student" award at her college. Now all we have to do is get her through the Nurse testing and insurance period ( long story) as she already has a job offer in hand and accepted. I salute the entire BassResource.com family Sincerely FFI - AKA Matt Crum Student Chelsea Crum ( Bach of nursing from Methodist college of nursing. )

HDTV Antenna
Correct or an older TV, a UHF antenna and a digital converter box between them Note: I was sloppy in my earlier post. Basically I was correct but as Cart7t clarified HDTV is just a higher level of DTV. ALL my HDTV references really should have been just digital TV which I believe is often referred to as SDTV (?). I've gone back and edited it.

Low-flow toilets
Yep the government had their hand in determining the spec's on these. It was a disaster for quite some time. So much so that their was literally a "black market " for standard toilets when these came out. The plumbers are going to make a killing in the next 20 years. As we speak the government is working on or has finished revising the spec's for washing machines. I'm thinking of "warehousing" some washing machines. FFI - AKA Matt Crum

HDTV Antenna
My sister in law lives way out in the country and uses one. They have a digital ready TV and get crystal clear reception using just a rabbit eared UHF antenna. I believe that digital does better than analog in general but the drawback like Cart said is that digital is a go or no go nothing in between. One question you might ask is if they have an old existing non digital ready TV & UHF antenna then maybe they have not bought the digital converter box? If not a digital ready TV and no digital converter box then they are not going to get anything once digital only comes into being. If the local stations have already converted to digital only ( as mine have ) then that could already be their problem. Let us know how it comes out as we all could probably learn something from this.

Need Help Selecting a Laptop (this should be good)
I'd stay away from Compaq / HP if it were my money. My kids bought identical laptops and they have been a pain. Keys falling off, display gone bad, several other large and nuiscance problems all relating to quality. Most were in the warranty period. Tech support is a joke. It takes multiple calls of being on hold forever then dealing with the impossible Indian accent of course. They have very little flexibility despite your skill level only a rigid tech support routine. They want to re-format your hard drive for a key that falls off! I complained several times in a very tactful manner w very little response. The last time I sent a message to the President. I got the impression that they just didn't care. I told them if I didn't atleast get some feedback to my complaints ( I didn't want anything out of it just communication ) that I would tell as many people possible that their co was garbage and they still didn't seem to care. I will give them credit when you do get through the ugly maze they have an excellent system for sending in under warranty. My guess is they have it down pat as they get to practise it a lot! just my .02

Things that people pay way too much for
Because the Fusion gives the best shave I have ever gotten. Protect your eyes from the sun and flying objects. Would you trust a 5 cent condom? Unless they are safety rated you haven't protected anything from flying objects. In fact by wearing anything non safety rated you could be putting your eyes at more risk. Now if we are talking about bugs that is a different story.

Things that people pay way too much for
I went to buy my usual off brand of razor blades. I had kind of a hard time finding them but eventually did and they were $3.54 for a 10-pack. These will probably last me for close to a year I'd guess. I couldn't hardly get to them because the $16 for 4 blade ones were all in the way. I don't get it, why would anyone pay that much for a razor blade? The second thing I can think of is sunglasses. Maui Jim's Costa's etc. again I don't get it. I 've had the same pair of sunglasses for probably 4 years, are polarized, help me see fish and work well. What does a $100 - $150 per pair of sunglasses do that a $15-$25 pair won't? Gucci, Coach what a waste of money. If you think of it you could easily add gold and diamonds to the list. What does either do for the average joe? nothing? People who can afford to have the very pricey ones often have knock off's made and keep the reel ones at home so as to not get stolen. What sense does that really make? doesn't that prove the point in itself? Gold is a little more complicated than that but almost in an artificial way in itself. Just kind had to semi-vent as I have been curious about this for a lwhile.

Swine flu- Question for Raul?
tyrius Thank you very much for your feedback. Unfortunately the virus is now in Illinois in the Chicago area with one confrimed death a 6 or 8 yr old? ( I think don't quote me on that ). I knew it would get here but I didn't think it would get here so soon. My wife and I started talking about what our reaction(s) is going to be. When an dif she will leave her job. Our 2 9yr olds have a school concert coming up. We are contemplating whether to avoid it. Ironicly due to school growth they haven't had one for about 3 years. We are deciding as to whether to avoid it or not. One of our other daughters is going to be graduating college in 2 weeks. We have invited out of town guests including some from Chicago. open questions to all - at the risk of sounding paranoid how would you react to these situations? will you be doing anything precautionary? Swine flu- Question for Raul?
Silly question but I've got to ask it Aside from how it is transmitted is this flue anymore dangerous than any other flu or is it just a regular old flu?

Whats the word I'm looking for here?
Why in the world under any circumstance would anyone answer the add? To follow through would mean sure death. What logical sense would that make unless they thought he wasn't serious and wanted to cash in? The guy is a total idiot and if sane should suffer the result that he intnded for his victim.

Swine flu- Question for Raul?
I'm glad someone started this thread. AI visited the thread a couple of times before it made me think. My wife works once a week as a clerk at a Pharmacy. In the last 8 months or so she has been getting sick more often than she ever did before. She tries very hard to use bacterial wash after any sick customer. She might even do it after every customer. Its amazing how stupid / rude customers can be. They will cough right at her w/o ever so much as turning there head! Not to mention they will cough into their hands then reach in and with the same hand give her money and think nothing of it! After thinking about it if this virus hits in or anywhere close to IL she's out of there. It is not worth the risk at all let alone for once per week @ $7/hr. This place takes pictures for passports so this could be even more of a double whammy. FFI - AKA Matt Crum

What milk do you drink
What kink of milk do you and or your family drink? I was just curious as to how much things have changed over the years. When I was a growing up all we ever had was whole milk at home and school until maybe high school? We drink nothing but skim milk here now. My wife has started watching a 9 month old and he is supposed to drink whole milk. There is about 6oz left of a 1/2 gallon ea week and I am the only one who will drink it. My kids have known nothing other than skim. Man whole milk still tastes good but even 6oz a week is probably too much. PS. I thought about making a bunch of spelling errors. That combined with a poll I figured might have made Long Mike's day! lol FFI - AKA Matt Crum

A brush with greatness...OR
Pigeon Forge eh? That kind of explains Burley. Hmmm Burley and Dolly Parton in the same picture I'm not sure we could handle that one! lol FFI - AKA Matt Crum

A brush with greatness...OR
Burley you are going to like him. Ryno does a good job and handles himself extremely well in public. He was very involved in the community when he was here in Peoria. I regret that although I went to some games I didn't get his autograph or get to talk to him. He is one class act. They ought to send Bonds and a bunch of others to the Sandburg school of class! With you guys being WVA I don't know if your town will embrace him as much but they did here. His only drawback is staying in games lol. He got thrown out of quite a few. I'm sure he is trying to shed the good guy image so he gets some respect from the umps.

A brush with greatness...OR
Me neither.... and I'm serious. You need to brush up on your baseball as this is probably the greatest 2nd baseman of all time. Top 5 minimum but the greatest due to his all around skills hitting and fielding.

Pure Fishing Does it Again
Having worked in a large electronic board level master repair facility this could simply be customer service by TAT ( turn around time ). We used to do that with certain pc boards and assemblies. Instead of setting up to repair one this week then one 2 weeks later you have exchange stock for replacements. It is much more effecient to work on the same model or product line for a week than a day here or a day there. The cost of the stock is pennies. Same principal as auto repair parts that have a core charge.

Motivation Problem
Don't take offense to this, but just because some students got C's and D's doesn't mean they skated by. I would hope if your the one doing the hiring you would also judge them by their character. I can remember some interview questions I had to answer that would give the employer some insight on my character/ethics. I think that is better to go by then grades. Just my opinion. No offense taken and good point. No I wouldn't base anything on GPA alone but it is definitely an important factor. I hear everyone on the core class focus but you only get so much attention on a resume or an application. Every application I can remember not only asks degree but also has a place for GPA. I'm in a little more white collar industry than normal maybe but not exec stuff. Very good point about the athletes Davis; def something to watch for. I'm confident that I would know if their grades were completely bogus. Goods diverse points guys Hey have we hi-jacked this thread or what?

Motivation Problem
I may not be in the norm but I've checked a lot of applications and degrees over the years and I always look at the GPA. There are a lot of ways to look at it but I rather hire someone who did well not skated by. I also tend to think C's are party boys probably who are going to approach their job the same way. Afterall the point of going to college is to learn something. One would assume a large pat of that is the tools that you will use in your job after college. I'm old school I know but my .02 anyway
