  1. approx 2.5 mo's in to this and still doing fine. Trying to stick to every other day routine. You guys were right the diet part is the hardest but I'll get there. The exercise part has to be a step in the right direction. I can't wait to see the doc's face on the next appointment. My numbers have to be greatly improved from where they were.
  2. Hey Cart what was the problem with it? did it fade bad? hard to work with? snag lures easy? rot out?
  3. In illinois they do in fact play a 3rd/4th place game ( on tv) and reward trophies to the top 4 places. Recently the coach from the girls 2A? played all of his players thoughout the entire game ( and a bunch ea ). My hats off to him. Those kids who may have spent as much as 10years preparing for this will remember the experience for the rest of their lives. Who won 3rd vs 4th will be remembered probably for about 1hr after the game. Don't forget these bench players are the ones who showed up for practise evey day and helped the main players be as good as they were. The class and the balls it took for this coach to do this will be remembered by those kids forever. In a small way it will help mold these kids in being who they will become. I'd be honored to have had my kid play for him. I knew in advance that the overwhelming majority would vote "the win at all costs".
  4. Thanks, keep em coming. I did have fish of some sort I can't remember what kind. It was in Detroit near Woodhaven I think. Anyway it was a white sauce that had pecans of some sort. Maybe one of the top 5 dishes I've ever eaten.
  5. Ok I'll try again Pretend you got beat in the semifinal so you don't get to play for 1st or 2nd for the state tittle. Thus your last game is to see who gets 4th and who gets 3rd. The question is do you play to win 3rd at all costs? or do you reward your bench for all of their hard work and get them some playing time for the memory of a lifetime playing in the state tny? Sorry for the confusion hope this helps Is it clearer now?
  6. I've got a decent fish market ( for the midwest anyway ) close by. I would like some recipes for cooking it. I plan on grilling it. Some good made from scratch sauces to put on it would be great. I know their are several kinds of Salmon but I'm not familiar enough to decipher them. Any input on what sauce for what Salmon would also be greatly appreciated. Or even what kind of Salmon is best in general. The best I've done so far is coated it with a generic mixture of spices and lightly grilled it. Then I pan seard it in red wine w a little garlic. Thanks in advance, FFI - AKA - Matt Crum
  7. Thanks for the post dmac; very nicely done I might add re "Haha nice well i guess you type a little faster" Nope I think I had a head start! ;D
  8. I'll go first Pflueger President spinning reel 6730 and the 6735 models The spool size and size in general seems a little small for bass on the 6730. This would be a very personal thing though as I tend to like more line capacity ( for breakoffs ) and weight doesn't bother me much. The 6730 does make a smaller bass reel that can double as a nice crappie reel though. This is an excelllent looking reel with a sharp blueish gray finish. The handle is a very sharply machined piece of polished metal with a chrome finish. The knob on the handle is made of rosewood ( or wood and rosewood finish?). I love the look and the feel but it might not be a hit with purists. The reel casts buttery smooth and the craftsmanship is very evident when operating the reel. The drag has proven to be very smooth. This is probably one of the finest sub $100 reels and at $59 list anywhere ( or less ) is probably in a class for value by itself. I've owned these for 2 or 3 years now and have never had a single problem. I'd give these a 5 bobbers ( out of 5 ) rating for value and for quality OK someone else step up with another product review Thanks in advance FFI - AKA Matt Crm
  9. Ok at long last it's here the official review thread. Here are the guidelines. 1) you write the review good or bad about a product reels rods whatever 2) nobody else gets an opinion on the product as a direct reply following the first post. 3) nobody gets to suggest a different product in place of another. 4)If someone wants to review the same item please post it after some time has gone by so as to not look argumentative 5) just the facts and your opinion from having used the product you are welcome to cut and paste from an old post of yours 6) tactful questions are ok but not so as to be argumentative Mods, I know you are busy people but maybe you can help me out by keeping an eye out on this? If it goes way awry feel free to delete the whole thing. Thanks in advance FFI AKA - Matt Crum
  10. There is no right or wrong answer on this. Keep it civil. I think I know how the vote will go but I won't predict in advance. I should have prefaced the obvious but just in case you have already lost out on finishing 1st or second. The only thing left is 3rd or 4th If anyone thinks of another choice I will add it. Thanks FFi - AKA Matt Crum
  11. I've thought for a while now that this has been a lot better than a couple of years ago. FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  12. That is one great line
  13. Welcome Jon, Im near Peoria but have spent a bunch of time in Rockford as I have a bunch of cousins up there. The Stone clan mainly.
  14. Welcome Jake. I'm from the middle of Illinois now but used to be fromthe QC's I've visited a bunch of places in Iowa but never Waterloo. Like Sam said pretty state. Played flag football with one of the Rubley brothers in fact. You might be too young to remember them though! lol Born and bread Illini fan so those Hawkeyes are another conversation! lol
  15. My thoughts exactly. The removal of an apex predator like that can't be good. Removal of an apex predator is never a good thing. I think my Apex predator is still attached and last I checked still works ok!
  16. Matt, If we ever meet, you can fish with a couple of custom Loomis rods. Nice gesture Keith I will keep that in mind. Maybe someday you never know. Come to think of it I was in Texas not long ago ( San Antonio ) for a week.
  17. I should add break 80 on a legit course and also to get a hole in one.
  18. I thought of one for you Mike " To wear shoes w/o velco again "
  19. What are some things that you want to do before you get too old to do them? Some of mine: 1) play 1 or 2 games of football ( touch is ok ) I just always liked playing. I can be deceivingly quick so I want to just once blow by a youngster on a pass route. Working on getting in shape as we speak to do this. 2) watch my oldest children's faces as they watch my parents dance again. I always took it for granted but my kids had no idea that my parents could dance this well. At my parents 50th I saw my parents dance but didn't notice my children's faces. We are running dangerously low on time for my parents plus they've had some health issues. 3) take the grandchildren fishing ( don't have any yet ) 4) fish with or own an upper end Loomis rod 5) go on a short fishing trip with dad again and watch his face as he catches a few nice bass 6) Catch a 5lb LMGB 7) Catch a 6lb LMGB 8) Catch an 7lb LMGB 9) go on a BassResource.com road trip You don't have to be old to answer. What are some of yours? FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  20. Maybe remove the door and put your own lock on it. Perhaps he'll get frustrated enough to get the hint.
  21. LOL They are some sort of storage plastic bag that you can put about any food in. They make banannas andapples etc last a lot longer. I imagine you could put about any food item in one.
  22. Anybody else use them? We think they work excellent; stuff lasts a lot longer These have to be putting a damper in the produce market
  23. Maybe try to watch the local little league but make it a park board thing not the fancy teams. Yea the bats are aluminum but the ball is pretty pure. On the other hand parents can kind of screw that up as well. Maybe check out one of those wooden bat leagues like my brother plays in ( at 52 no less). Better yet join one and show em how to play the game old school. My brother has seen 70 year old pitchers that nobody can hit. God luck witht the search.
  24. Still hanging in there and still doing approx 3 x per week. Man it feels good I should have done this 20 years ago. for anyone considering starting it is much easier than I ever thought it would be. Still doing 40 brisk minutes on the tread mill. Then 2 walking laps on the track followed by 1-2 laps running then reapeat once. About an hour total ea time. The dieting is a little harder than I thought but I try to keep it in check anyway. Lets see where the excersize gets me. Thanks again for all of the support! PS Sam that reply was a classic gave a good chuckle. FFI -AKA Matt Crum
