  1. We did read it, and you mispelled "comprehension." LOL I had that coming Micro
  2. Note: It's Cart's thread but for the 4th time He didn't ask for Reps!!!!! He asked for tackle reviews by average Joe's who've used the equipment. Pay attention! lol A bunch of people have failed their reading comprehension homework ;D
  3. Thanks everyone. I understand that my theory was off base. It will take a while for it to completely sink in but I follow what you are saying. Like RW said "great thread" not because I thought of it of course but because of all of you more advanced fisherman who answered the post. Thanks everyone
  4. I've got a vacatin day today but you don't now get back to work! lol JK of course check your pm's in a minute or 2
  5. My hats off to all of those who've posted. So far for a fairly controverisal topic the replies have pretty much been first class. Although not a tny fisherman I can see it both ways. As a spectator via T.V. I'd much rather see fish than one comeing loose at the boat. Maybe the rule should be ammended to " the handle of the net must be visible at all times" This would prevent the 4ft down tree stump "rescue ". Just a quick thought ???? FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  6. Yep I thought a couple of people had kind of misunderstood the original intent of the post. Again I think a review thread by brand would be a great idea and ultimately cut down on bonehead posts. I also think it would be the perfect venue for BassResource.com to "lure" ( sorry for pun) the advertisers to the site after the fact.
  7. Sorry Bilge I didn't see yours before. It sounds like a great idea to me. Attn MODS: Come to think of it wouldn't it prevent some of those petty arsed arguments wnen someone asks "what do you think of the Diawa XYZ" and some trout head says "its junk by a Shimano" ?? Maybe it would prevent a lot of that garbage and feuds etc?
  8. I understand that you need them for weeds and heavy cover but it seems like I see a disportionate(sp?) amount of them as compared to M's and such. Truth be told I gauge this mainly on what I see for sale in various used venues. Maybe that sums it up they bought wrong and are changing? It would seem to me that with all of the talk about sensitvity that MH would effectively ( maybe only in a small way ) reduce sensitivity. Just curious of your thoughts not a big deal
  9. The menu lists Pike Bluegill & Yellow Perch I tried the Perch as I have heard it is supposed to be hands down the best tasting freshwater fish. I was a little dissapointed but it was ok. I don't think it was the resturant's issue as everyone else's dinner was excellent and then some. Next time I will try the Pike
  10. Mike that is hilarious! Good One! Fourbizz your's was right up there as well
  11. Hey Gone I was in Milwaukee over the weekend. One of my daughters had an away college basketball game @ Mt Mary College. BTW We stopped in Mukwanego just of I43 on the way back to eat. We found a family resteurant called Zeneli's(?). It was excellent for the price about $7-1$0 for a very nice and very good tasting meal.
  12. I posted this and forgot to check for responses until now. Good stuff everyone and a lot of good theories. It just seemed like last year that people were selling a lot of stuff. Gander mtn, Shimano, Pflueger you name it. There were great deals. Now there is not even a lot of those products. I assumed that is was fisherman hanging it up for the year to re-arm for next year. Or people rasing funds for cristmas. Both could be greatly affected by the economy but not the raising money for x-mas so much. The sellers policy post brings up a very big difference from last year. I'm not sure what it is maybe last year was the odd duck? Either way good stuff guys great posts
  13. Probably so, My first thought was man they don't know their market but Zebco hasn't been around as long as it has by being lousy marketers.
  14. Is it just me or has anyone noticed that there is just not much on E-bay these days for fishing items? It has been this way for several months. Anyone have an opinion as to why?
  15. I saw in Bassmaster magazine or Field & Stream an article about this year's new equipment. They listed a Zebco combo that had a Split Grip Tenessee handle! I'm thinking why bother? If you know enough to know what a split grip is you are not going to be buying a Zebco!
  16. At the risk of quibbling I honestly believe "High end" reels start at $250 for list price. I think the Chronarchs, Stellas, Sustain's, Zillions, Steez's & Premiers etc are high end. The $150 to $220 is just excellent quality at an above average price The $59 to $149 is Mook to (Mook ) high end range lol For rods I'd say maybe $150 and up? FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  17. I use a 6' ML what length you use might depend on where you fish from If it is from the bank with a bunch of trees behind you and stuff then maybe 6'. If from the bank near trees in the water then maybe a 7'. I also use my 6' ML for bass and have caught several up to 4lb w/o a problem
  18. The ACT is a test similar to the SAT. Here's a map: No problem Hook by the way my fee is 10%
  19. Still $1.79 in central il my town Odd though I drove 1.5hrs to my old hometown to attend a wake and gas is .40 / gal higher there and not at just one gas station ???? It is only 100miles away so what gives with that///
  20. I've raised one college student and am in the process of 2 more. One of the first places you start is right after the first of the year filling out the FAFSA. www.fafsa.ed.gov every school that gives scholarships requires this to determine your families income situation. This tells your economic needs and determines what you can get for Federal and possibly state assistance. In IL it also satisfies the state automaticaly as well. Here's another pretty good site for information http://www.finaid.org/ As was mentioned your guidance counselor should have been talking to you long before now. Don't wait for them to call you go see them. Finishing in the top ten of your class is a big + as well. Finishing as #1 in your class makes a difference as well. You can also check in a lot of other places. Depending on your field of study someone or group might have a scholarship. If you dad or mom belong to a union or an organization they often have them. Often the parents place of work offers a scholarship or 2. I could go on but for now this might be a start Oh I almost forgot; singing the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" is not necessarily a good move for your college aplication! J/K LOL FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  21. I still vote for Squirrely Burley
  22. I'm all right Sam I got a couple of them. If I ever want another one though I'll just have to pay full retail at Gander
  23. I posted several times about a particular Gander Mountain reel that I thought was good for the money and always available on E-bay Not long after and ever since I haen't seen any of them on E-bay I don't think I'll be making that mistake again
  24. Except Pflueger is not rated this way. They typ go by a 25, 30, 35 or 40 size. The first 2 numbers depends on the model of the reel ex 6025 A 30 or 35 size would be similar to a Shimano 2500 size. Size is generaly related to line size and capacity. You need to know what size line you will be using to pick the reel. To know the line size you need to know the type of fish you will be after. In short 8lb test for spinning gear is pretty routine unless you need to get a fish out quick do to weeds etc then often a much higher linze size is used.
  25. Have you ever thought about signing up for the do not call list? I had someone call me the other day at dinner time no less. They had some bogus opening line. I said " hey I'm on the do not call list you can't call me". They said oh no we are not selling anything. I said "ok then we've got nothing to talk about" click.......
