I might have bought from them before. Anyway the reason I'm on E-bay is I'm generaly looking for a deal on something used. Or a deal via something someone just needs to sell for one reason or another. I will keep Simmons in mind but if I'm going to buy retail I would prefer to do business face to face. rec'd my '09 BPS today Some things I noticed. 1) Shimano / US reels has an add right in the middle of the Shimano BC pages. Shimano even has more BC on the next page so it kind of doesn't make sense. Not sure what if anything to make of this although I doubt anything special ????? 2) Daiwa - has an anniversary special Zillion. The color looks kind of funky. I imagine it looks different in person but in the add it makes it look like cheap plastic ( which I doubt it is ). I think it also has a 7.3:1 gear ration and they tout it as fastest in the industry 3) Pflueger gone are the Summit, Supreme, trion and the old president baitcasters ( now Pres 2 ). The top of the line is the Patriarch. Also still list the Asaro and the Cetina 4) BPS released a Johnny Morris Gold which looks good. 5) The rod section seems very thin As silly as it sounds I realised that I really like my reels to look nice as well as perform well. If I'm going to spend Cadillac or Ferrari money I want it top look good. I'm not likely to buy a boring beige Ferrari. That is one reason that in the past I didn't like a lot of Diawas as they just looked ugly ( Like the TD's . Several of their reels now look pretty good. Not the most solid philosophy I know but if they want my money that's what it takes..

I'd say seller friendly no but a sellers market yes. Very few items that I typicaly look for show up any more. The ones that do are never any kind of deal. I could buy down the street for the same price. For the most part I do mean auctions vs e-bay stores.

I've been checking a bunch since and E-bay still has nothing on it that I regularly look for.

For about 3 years I worked 3rd shift 11pm to 7am I didn't like it but I learned to make the best of it. I slept imeediately after coming home. I was able to almost live a normal 1st shift family life this way. I made almost all the kids's activities school plays etc. The weekend switch back and forth deal was kind of tough but doable.

Hey Bassn, Take it back and take your time asking questions when you do. Then go back and buy it again a day or 2 later. Then re-peat the process. It will be cheap entertainment; well till the wife's lawyer comes along anyway! lol

Normaly I'd say go for it with a few qualifiers. With it being the sister of a friend you should be extra cautious on how you handle things. Only date her if you act like a very mature young man and handle yourself with class at all times. Same for the other way around; is she mature enough to handle a breakup? If the answer is no then forget it. This way nobody gets hurt when it goes south as most do. Many people can be good friends after a breakup but often they cannot. Note: I said normaly... Things in print don't always convey the authors feelings but as your first 2 words say I'M Bored I'd say this is a bad idea at this stage in your life. Just my .02 FFI

Rumor has it I might be getting a Bass Pro Shops about 1min from where my office is! If it happens it would be the equivalent of the monkey being on super steroid doses. Whoooo Hooo! Oh wait that could be very bad too! Keep in mind the nearest big store of any kind is 2.5 - 3hrs Did I mention that I get an hour lunch? They're going to think I work there. Maybe I'll buy a BPS shirt and hat and they will give me an employee discount. It has been rumored before so I don't think it will happen but wishful thinking anyway.

This thread is piceless all by itself! Bsassinsolldier be careful on what you buy or you will defeat your purpose. I have 2 now 9yr old daughters. I bought them ea small Shakesphere closed face nderspin combos and felt I had checked thm over as best as I could for quality. One of them worked for maybe a month then bit the dust. One never worked wll at all and scratched the line something fierce early on. I ended up returning them. The girls were around 5 or 6 then and the frustration had a large hand in their getting burned out. I went ahead and let them use a decent spinnig reel or 2 of mine and they did fairly well. Tangles are inevitable and they don't like to ask for help so you have to keep a close eye on them. I learned after the fact ( and too late) that braid would probably have made this to be a non issue. You are probably safe on the Zebco 33 In case she wants to try something tht is a little closer to the real thing Here is something I always thought about trying http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58698____SearchResults Keep in mind this could be junk I have no idea I've seen junk reels by a bunch of manufacturers including ABU, Shakesphere, Quantum I've never seen a junk Pflueger or Shimano but mine is not exactly a scientific survey. If I were you I'd buy her a New or Newish Pflueger President for around $35. I'd only do it if you think she could handle a spinning reel. I would also spool it with braid as it would virtualy eliminate line twist. It won't break the bank and if she doesn't like it you end up with a very usable reel. I think the thing will take a ton of abuse.

Let's try and get a few things straight; Dicks has reels that say : Made for Dicks by Pflueger, or Dicks Exclusive and on the label it says ( by Licence from Pflueger) so if Dicks has a well know relationship with Pflueger and Acknowledges this HOW IS THIS ILLEGAL? They make different colors to ID the exclusive as being sold by Dicks, and they want to sell those house brands because the profit margin is greater and they want to have call back and loyal customers searching out those brand names. First, geez Dominick settle down a little. I don't mind Dick's having an exclusive Pflueger deal it makes no difference to me. The only thing I disagree with is using the name "Medalist" on the reel and only if in fact it is not an exact Medalist in a different color. If it has less features or is a totaly different reel then I think that is borderline deceptive practise. Very similar to the BPS rod being avertised as whatever it was some time ago with the old model# switch deal. Muddy I love most BPS stuff and I'm a very dedicated Pflueger fan so I have no axe to grind. I just don't like co's using what I consider as unethical marketing practises. I doubt they are illegal but I'm not sure that they aren't borderline illegal. It appears my statement "They could in fact be exact reels painted different I don't know one way or the other" was overlooked or I thought it was objective enough but what I meant was if the Medalist and the Gold are in fact exactly the same reel with different paint jobs then it is simply a great bargain. Muddy and anyone in the field do you think the drummers brushes ( I think that's what they are called ) will become a lost art? Do you think they might in fact disappear completely? Old Navy does let you remove all of you info ( including changing your name, removing your address etc but they just won't let you be copletely removed. I did a couple of quick checks and Sears allows you to buy online without registering likewise does BPS. just my .02

I don't know about that Intensity vs Purist deal as I think those are different reeels? The one Dick's exclusive that I knew about first hand was the Pflueger Gold Medalist. Note: not a Medalist but a "Gold Medalist" The real Medalist is mainly silver while the Dick's Gold Medalist is mostly White. The name of the reel is kind of a marketing cheap shot / even borderline illegal. They could in fact be exact reels painted different I don't know one way or the other. The price was vastly different though.

I could hae swore I already had rec'd a new catalog from one of the 2 BPS or Cabela's but can't find any now. Has anyone else received an '09 catalog of any kind? Old age is setting in though so???

Due to some shopping my wife did online I got wround to doing some shopping. I noticed that she had "registered" with several sites to purchase gifts. Old Navy, Target etc. question ) I don't shop online that much, do most all require you sign up or can you usualy input your information and buy? FYI I wish my wife hadn't registered but so be it. When I tried to unregister her from Old Navy their customer service replied " sorry but we cannot remove you from our database" I wasn't too happy about that and am in the process of writing them a letter and refusing to do further business with them Was curious on your thoughts on this in general FFI - AKA Matt Crum
