Cubs vs Mets
- Meet Mr Ghoti
Well I didn't get to meet him but I had a nice phone chat with him the other day. He's a sharp guy and a class act. I get the feeling this guy could tell some stories. He had some very nice things to say about his conversations with Long Mike, Avid and RW ( + some others that I forgot ). Nice to talkin to you Ghoti We may not get to fish this year but I'll call you first and drop by the college or Cat for sure. FFI AKA - Matt Crum- Cubs vs Mets
Any chance you might be re-considering this? I'm not sure Lou could have done enough to cure what's going on now. We did get 3 starters injured from the time that we clinched. I'm not sure it all matters with as bad as we stink right now Plus it more than likely would have shown up in the long run not the short one we are about to have(?) FFI - AKA Matt Crum- Had to turn on the heat today...
Wussy!- All Star Rods
I had some similar questions a while back about Allstar rods. Cart7 ( who has a huge amount of fishing knowlege ) sent me a very informative message. He said I could pass it on to you. I hope he doesn't mind me posting it here for all. FFI - AKA Matt Crum Quote from Cart7 """"""First off, I have no knowledge of the Instinct series or the new ASR rods. From what I've read by those that have one on this forum, the ASR rods are pretty nice. They're IM10 blanks like the TAS series but also have split grips. They're supposedly amazingly light weight. I've never used a split grip rod before and am not sure I even want to though this rod line does intrigue me. Now for the lineup I'm familiar with: All Star American Classics - First off, don't let anyone tell you different. The new Classics are just as good as the old. I've fished with both and can't tell the difference. The rods are IM6 construction, are sensitive and amazingly lightweight. I still have 2 of these. A 6' med/fst I use for small cranks, small spinnerbaits and jerkbaits. The other a 7' mh I use for pitching. These sell for around $90 retail but you can get them at Bobby's rods and reels for around $75 each new. Great rods. Team All Stars - These are probably their biggest sellers. IM10 construction. Durable. Honestly, weightwise, these rods are virtually the same weight as the Classics but more sensitive. I no longer have any of these but am looking for a TAS Big Boy for flippin. The big boy series are heavier duty rods in the TAS series made exclusively for pitching, flippin and froggin. These are great rods. Bobby's has the TAS rods at $85 each. $100 for the Big Boys. BPS and Cabela's sells them for around $99 - 109. Platinum series - These are the top of the line. Keep your Loomis GlX's or Kistlers and their $300 price tags. These are the best bargain going for soft plastic fishing. I don't have Platinums per se. I'm using the old Titanium series. The only difference is Titanium guides vs non for the Platinum series. It's not a big deal. These rods are light, light like a GLX or Kistler and very, very sensitive. The last time we were at Washco, dink picked up one of my 7' Titanium worm rods and compared it to his St Croix Tournament Legend rod. He couldn't believe the All Star was so light weight. He was floored when I told him you can pick up new platinums for $115. BTW, these rods are tough as well. I know you've read the Loomis guys saying that if their blank gets a nick in it, it's a break waiting to happen. Well, I've got a 7' Titanium I use for C rigging. I've had it a few years and the big egg sinkers have beat that rod up pretty good. Everytime I set the hook I expect that rod to break and yet it just keeps on going. Like I said, the cheapest place right now for All Stars is Bobbys. Classics - $75, TAS - $85, ASR series - $75, TAS Big Boys - $100, Platinums - $115. Shipping is like $18 and he can ship 3 rods at a time.""""""""- -700
I like the split the money deal Maybe weight it, 80% to the people who lived within their means and the 20% for fallout from the lone sharks. Plenty of business majors in college and out who can take over for the guys that fall by the way side. I did hear a unique perspective on what happened. This came from the finance co that runs our 401k. His take was that this was caused by a poorly written software ( 2 different packages no less). The lenders wrote the software to ssave themselves money on researching loans. The home buyer inputs his data into the software. The software calculates and says go or no go. The second software checks the first. In no instance does a human check the data input by the buyer. If the buyer put in he made $75K instead of $50K then the computer said ok. I can maybe believe bad software but I find it difficult to believe that somewhere along the way that lenders or agents didn't know what was going on. I also find it difficult that buyers didn't know they were on a very thin limb. FFI- AKA Matt Crum- I can't do it ( great story, great inspiration )
The next time you think or hear someone complain about how bad they have it, have them read this. What an awesome kid. The pres ought to invite him or he should be on Oprah and the late night shows. http://www.pjstar.com/sports/x1205933476/Supinie-Playing-time-low-on-priority-list- Pfleuger Supreme Bait Caster
Hey adclem, I used it again today and the drag was smooth as silk. So far its been a lucky reel as I've caught bass with it every time.- the last fishing trip
Most of them in fact J/K Avid just messin- Your thoughts and comments please...Update.
More like 30, keep it honest ;D First off Congrats Catfish As far as Robert... Muddy beat me to it. Robert you might be in sales but none of us was buying that 20 year line! lol- So, my 1 piece rod is now a 2 piece rod...Suggestions???
Good deal that it isn't broke. We've all been there done that in one way or another! lol- Pfleuger Supreme Bait Caster
I bought one just recently ($139) and I like it. I haven't used it a ton yet but it seems to work very well. Anytime you can get a $179 reel for $119 I don't think you can go wrong. I own 4 Pflueger reels in total and like all of them; never a bit of probelm with any of them.- Your thoughts and comments please...Update.
Hey Cat you've got a lot going on in one letter. On one hand you are asking someone to a relatively simple dance. On the other hand you are suggesting atleast the good possibility that you'd (although slowly) might like to pursue romance. That's a lot to throw out there all at once. Girls tend to have an idea something is going on ahead of time on these things anyway. The letter is very well doen by the way. Not a big deal good luck with it and have fun either way.- Best Price on St. Croix Avid's.....Anyone Know????
A little suprised at these prices as the 2nd most recent series was on sale for those kind of prices not very long ago at all. Those prices were to make room for the very recent newest series that is presently out. No biggie either way because both series are known to be great rods and $99 is a good deal on either just my .02- Rods for around $50 to $60
fish-fighting-illini replied to fish-fighting-illini's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsYou've got a good point RW I should have explained better up front my mistake. Then again I still don't have my mind completely set on the idea in general. I hate to tie and tying in the dark is a bear sometimes so I like to have several rods 4-6 with different lures. I will probably upgrade my cheapest rods from the $15 ones to $50 - $60 ones. I'll keep my Avid and HMG & maybe my BPS extreme for now anyway as I got pretty good deals on all of them. Burley, Someday I've got to witness your humor in person. The stuff you come up with at times is priceless. FFI - AKA Matt Crum- So, my 1 piece rod is now a 2 piece rod...Suggestions???
If it broke and you did nothing wrong why wouldn't you immediately not think of taking it back? If you think it was a fluke then exchange, if you think its junk then get a refund. I just posted not long ago about what I just recently found out about BPS's rod warranty. Check this thread out on my post http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1217516699/25#25- Rods for around $50 to $60
I'm set on reels and have a couple of nicer rods ( 1 Avid 1 Fenwick HMG but I am going to keep the rest of my future rods in the $50-$60 range if possible. Forget the new Berkleys they are out. I'm leaning toward the Shimano's in my price range. Sale priced BPS Extremes are possible when I'm near one. Anything other ones I might be overlooking? Thanks in advance FFI - AKA Matt Crum- WHAT A BUNCH OF MORROOONS!
They are abusing the days as they are sick days and nowhere does it mention personal days. The union ought to re-negotiate and maybe trade 2 sick days for personal days. It makes sense as it helps for doctors appointments and house buying etc. Hey Muddy, As a suggestion maybe next year a 1 or 2 week advance heads up to them in e-mail or verbal if not a ton of people. Something like " hey the fair is coming up and someone always calls in sick its a fact of life. Can we maybe under the table kind of coordinate things to help everyone out." I'm not sure if this wold go over well with the co but just a suggestion. Maybe start now for next year then again close to fair time. FFI AKA - Matt Crum- Morton Water Softeners
A little long sorry It is a tad early but so far Morton brand water softeners seem to be a joke. I've had one in service for less than a month. I bought it at Menards ( who I despise but are close ). This is a replacement for a Kenmore softener that bit the dust after 20 years of good work. I would have rewarded Sears but their units ( to my surprise ) were huge and clunky and my space is very limited. I checked Menards and another box type store and they had basically the same brands. Morton is kind of the Cadillac of softener salt pellets so I figured it safe. My unit developed a problem so I dug out the manual. Get this the manual says 1 year warranty but only on parts you must install them yourself! Labor is not re-imbersable if you are not talented enough to repair yourself you must hire a plumber at your own expense! This is on a nearly $500 item no less. I check all connections ( no problems ) then remove power and back to same error all before I leave for work. I then call tech support from work. Tech support says check the connections. I mention I already had done so thoroughly and I politely mention my more than run of the mill qualifications ( electronics degree, former bench tech etc.). They won't take my word so I say I'll double check after work and call tech support back. After work same deal, the lady has me remove the motor and asks if it is spinning. I say no so she says bad motor and will have in 2-3 days. I think to myself I want to be sure. I check with my elect meter and no voltage is getting to the motor ( neither AC or DC ). The motor has approx 80ohms resistance so I suspect it is probably good. I call tech support back and explain ( 3rd different person ). He has no clue but is adamat that my motor is bad and they must follow protocol. He did mention although open till 8pm for tech support the more advanced people go home at 5pm cdt. I will call tomorrow but right at the moment my opinion is this aoutfit is a joke. I'll let you know how it all ends up. I will probably send a link to this thread to their customer service either way. Sorry again for the long post FFI AKA - Matt Crum- White sox or Cubs?
Go Cubs Go hey Chicago........ say no more- Did anyone hear from the kid IKE
Glad to hear it git r D- NEED FLASH DEVELOPER NOW!!
Muddy has been known to flash fellow anglers; does that qualify him?- Cubs vs Mets
oooh ooouch a grand slam by the Cubbies pitcher The game is not over however Pinella's words were instead of resting people they owed it to MLB to play their best against Milwaukee and NY. I'm not so sure I agree. I think the only thing you owe anyone is to do everything in your power to win the world series. What are your thoughts?- Who is your favorite all time quarterback?
talent = Montana ( but a jerk ) Bradshaw = Superbowl rings Ken Stabler to execute a drive Bob Giese = gifted quarterback For entertainment = Jim Mc Mahon ( def not for talent ) Len Dawson Daryl Lamonica Staubauch Elway- A sense of humor is what it takes.......
... To get through a week like this Police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, you name it and it has happened this week. On of the kids totaled a car, while waiting for the police the car caught fire. It wasn't a big one but a smokey mess none the less. Passengers of both vehicles went by ambulance to the hospital. At least one was released within minutes. Things could have been much much worse they were lucky. The good news is we had full & proper $$ amount of insurance. The bad news is the occupants of the "victim" vehicle are probably going to want a bunch of it and possibly then some for a nest egg ??? The best news is I could only get the brakes off of and replaced on one side last week. Now I don't need to worry about it! - Meet Mr Ghoti
