For that wisecrack I'm going to put a great big target on your front door. In the center of the target I'm going to velcro a Redsox hat! PS got to give you credit that was a good one. You must be a peeping tom though as I did go shopping for the wife and did buy her a dress ????

Bass Pro Shop Broken Rod
For what it's woth here's what I found out I am in chicago on business. I broke a BPS rod ( probably my fault ). It was a rod I bought used and didn't have a receipt for. I took it into Bass Pro shops in Bolingbrook on my way up to Chicago. When I handed them the rod they were kind of whispering back and forth. After a few questions and stern looks they asked me how it happened. I explained I wasn't 100% sure. They also asked me how old it was which I had no idea. They said only Johnny Morris rods have a lifetime guarantee but that all rods used to have lifetime. They said the official rule is 1yr on all other rods. They said the rule changed fairly recently due to increased rod costs. They then proceeded to tell me to go ahead and get one which I hurredly did. That's what I know so use the info as you wish. Keep in mind this is just one BPS location so it "might " very from one to another. I bet houskeeping is wondering why I have a fishing pole in my motel room! FFI - AKA Matt Crum

I think that is one of the greatest things about baseball. It brings about very passionate ( albeit East coast biased ) opinions from all walks of life and age grouups. The dig ) East coast.. ) was not originaly supposed to be a part of my post Muddy; just a little messin with ya. It was too good to pass up.

A new toy Pflueger Supreme BC
I got a brand new Pflueger Supreme Baitcaster the other day frm Cabelas for $139 ( reg $179 ). I went out today and caught a bass on the first cast ( the bait monkey will be in overdrive ). So far the reel seems very sweet. I was fishing a very light weightless worm and it casts vey well. The reel is very low profile. I like the way the cast control nob clicks as you adjust it. This makes it easier to tell how much you have adjusted it. The reel seems very light compared to my Citica. ( I do like my citica as well. I love the color of the reel as well. I'll post a more detailed review as I use it more. FFI AKA - Matt Crum

After looking at it a little closer I agree with you they are not even close. In many categories Santo is much better Santo has approx 30% more RBI's in 10% less AB's while playing for some really bad teams vs Boggs playing with loaded championship teams Santo has roughly 300% more home runs than Boggs in 10% less AB's. Boggs' BA is much higher than Santo's but Santo's is respectable for a power hitter. Santo has 50% more stolen bases and more 3b's, Boggs is way ahead in 2b's. Santo has many more strikeouts. I guess they are very different players but I believe that if Boggs is in then Santo should be. I'm not sure about Boggs but Santo was a heck of a defensive player.

Another one for Glenn
I can see we're off and running and in perfect agreement! LOL I further contend that under is a one handed candidate and that over is only 2 handed. How can a guy hold the Bass Pro Shops catalog with the over method????

Storm swimbaits?
Like someone said its been hashed and re-hashed. I've caught many 4,3,2 lb bass on them, 3 -5 lb channel cat, nice crappie you name it. The bass were from lakes that you seldom see a bass of 4lbs usualy much less. I love 'em. People complain that they don't run properly. sometimes that is the case but a 2 second adjustment and it will run perfect. people often talk of "tuning a $15 crankbait these are no different just 50cents thogh. Everyone I've ever shown them to has caught fish on them. I met for the first time and fished with Farmpond1 recently. He was skeptical until he watched me fish with them and he is now a firm believer. it probably has a lot to do with fishing styles and what works for one person and not another. Neither opinion is totaly right or wrong. just my .02 FFI- Matt Crum

Shimano Combo
Good idea NJ that is an awful good deal on a Shimano combo better to make sure everyone knows. Anyone tight on a budget or a youngster looking to add; this would make a fine addition on a budget.

Another one for Glenn
Some time ago Glenn posted in a thread I started that never in his wildest dreams when he started this site did he ever think what I posted would be a topic one day. I of course being the shy type immediately took that as a compliment to my creativity! Maybe this one will be #2 ( pun very much intended ) The question: The paper ( you know which one). There's only oe right answer Under FFI - AKA Matt Crum

Ouch my friend Muddy; the dagger in the back I can feel it. You've got a point about the batting Muddy. A parrtial one at least anyway. Don't forget to take into account the juiced balls not to mention the flatter mound that Boggs batted against. Not to mention watered down teams. I just never got that he's a great player feeling from Boggs but I see your point. Now Mook brain as a typical New York fan you only paid attention to half the important stuff lol. What about defense? Santo was a heck of a defensive 3rd baseman. Boggs could have been better I didn't check those numbers. Eckersly was definately good and probably HOF material but not before Santo jL just Razzin ya as always Muddy

I noticed a picture of the 49 HOF players who were invited to the allstar game. One thing stuck out like a sore thumb. Despite their advanced ages only 2 or 3 of the 49 were wearing glasses. Some could have had contacts. Kind of maybe seems obvious that great vision is a huge factor? Speaking of HOF - Ron Santo deserves to be in the HOF in the picture were Wade Boggs, Gary Carter, Ferguson Jenkins, Don sutton, Dennis Eckersly and some others. Ron Santo is much better than any of those players. P.S. I read in Chuck Yeager's book that he could see the enemy a VERY long time before others in his squadron could. That is a large part of what made him such a great pilot

Keep an eye on the police blotter this weekend!

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
Well we got to skip July which was good. Then the poor kid gets an ovarian cyst which they thought might need operated on. It ruptured on its own which relieved the pressure. She went in on Sun night ( mon am ) came home around 7:30 pm on tues and I had to stop the car 1/2 way home for her to throw up. It turns out that her 1.5 yr illness decided to reappear as she was on the way home from the cyst illness deal. Man this is really starting to stink ( as if it didn't already). I'm not sure how much more we can take of this. I need to go fishing even if just for a few hours just to preserve my sanity. My guess is she has been in the hospital for all of or part of 20-30 weeks in the last 1.5 yrs ( not positive we've lost count ). With the job change I've got a different insurance co. If Mayo clinic is on the ppo I'm going to jump at it. I don't care how much it costs if not a ppo I might just go that route anyway. We've got to try something different.
