4 all the Danica Patrick Fans
Right there with ya Mike, she may be young but something about her just says I'm smokin hot. The fact that she is married to a much older man doesn't hurt ( ok not quite that old ) but you get the point. The fact that she grew up a short drive from where I live is also a plus!!!!!!!

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
Well the good news is Chelsea is home from the hospital as of late Sunday. Thus it was a late tues night through Sunday stay which is light by our recent standards. She went back to school on Monday to try to salvage all of the work she has put in for the semester. The only bad news is we still have no firm handle on what it really is, how to mitigate it quickly nor how to prevent it. Those are the cards we've been dealt and many others have much worse problems than Chelsea. It is starting to take a toll on everyone but we'll keep our chins up. Thanks to all for the good wishes. WIII60 ( aka Josh ) thanks for the pm it helps and I fired one back at ya. Keep up the thoughts we as well as others may need them.

Reel selection from my list please help
Why do most of your choices have so much line capacity? Unless you are fishig for huge fish that are making long runs you don't need it. I'd scratch the Mitchel, the Shakespere and the Quantum in this price range for sure. The Pflueger is maybe my #1 choice based on the other Pfluegers I own. Abu's Cardinal reels look pretty decent lately. Their are several choices in your price range better than what you've posted but as you said you don't want to hear about them.

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
P-Rock, Jr, Muddy thanks for the support. She's doing a little better. She started eating last night and might get out tomorrow. No long term solutions but better than the present situation. She might be able to salvage this semester possibly at this rate. That helps keep her on the insurance which is good.

SNOW!!
That is a little on the late side Glenn. Here in Ilinois I remember all those years of umpiring. The HS baseball season opener was always the last couple of days of March. Some years you started inshort sleeve shirt and sweating. Some years in all the clothes you could get on. some years you started out sweating and a week or 2 later you were wearing all the clothes you could find again. Spring is just an uncertain time.

UPS delivered some sweat reels today
And added a Shimano Sticker? LOL

Quantum- fading away???
Their was a fairly recent thread about Quantums. You are right though Russ. It seemed more like a Bandito's than a Posse LOL. Fluke I gotta disagree about the advertising. They are all over the place advertising in my opinion, magazines fishng shows. Geez they've got Vandam and Dance ( and I think Shaw?). You can't ask for much more than that for heavy hitters. Its doesn't appear to be working though. I agree big time on the lack of something new though.

instruments anyone?
Was 1st chair trombone for several years. I loved it. Then when getting to 10th grade they made you march and I said no thanks. I loved to play but didn't want anythig to do with that whole march thing with wool uniforms.

Bummin' Out About The Carrot Stix...
With winter being so long this year the spring carrot planting was severely delayed. Thus your rod is late! LOL

Gander GST = Pflueger Medalist ????
fish-fighting-illini replied to fish-fighting-illini's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsThe "cut and paste" narrow minded Pflueger bash. Who really cares? The Gander GST and the Pflueger Medalsit appear to be one in the same or very similar. Just pointing out an observance end of story move on.

Gander GST = Pflueger Medalist ????
fish-fighting-illini replied to fish-fighting-illini's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsMedalist I'm almost sure. I do own the Gander and the Medalist as well as a President. The handle machining & knob are identical to the Medalist as well as the color. Some of the frame parts are ever so slightly different. The President is a very different color but I will take a look at the frame compared to the Gander to see.

Gander GST = Pflueger Medalist ????
I just bought a Gander mountain guide tournament series GST40F( ? ) reel via E-bay for $31 I bought the reel thinking that from the picture it looked almost identical to my Pflueger Medalist. The reel came today and it could be a virtual twin with a few minor differences. Even the color which is somewhat unique is identical. The handle is identical. The frame is just slightly different and the spool is slightly different although one is a 30 series and the guide is a 40 series. The verdict is still out but I'd say Pflueger is more than likely making this series for Gander. FFI- AKA Matt Crum

There are a few select things that maybe corners shouldn't be cut on! The old saying you get what you pay for! LOL

Which baitcasters do you own
I voted Citica ( only BC I use anymore). I use spinning reels the most.

ebay
I've bought several reels. I wouldn't buy if it didn't say new or used. How would you know how much to pay w/o knoing that. I had one bad experience. I was sold a reel as new in box. When I got it the reel had line on it, was dirty where the line was and had a huge cut like someone had been messing with it. The seller was a little miffed and a jerk. They had pretty decent feedback prior to that. I saw a couple of problems after that then poof the seller was gone and quit selling.

Who plans on "video-ing" this year?
Roll film can be easy its the "action" part that doesn't always want to cooperate! LOL

friggin cold front
Jason, I don't want to hear it. I still haven't been on a "real" outing for the year yet. Its either been too cold, too windy, snowing or too rainy to get the boat out of storage. In some cases all of these at the same time. This week I think thurs or fri I might get to go for the first time.

Not as good as we thought, lol
In a round about why I'm kind of glad I thought to myself ... These guys are going out and in 15 minutes they are catching all of these fish. I thought man I must stink. Still might but atleast I've got a little breathing room it looks like. I feel better.

frugality 101
Ok this could be funy, a great way to pick up some ideas, or embarassing or all 3. What do you do to save a few bucks? At work I eat out only once per week. I save what's left over from a $20 and stock pile to buy fishing gear We will re-fill water bottles and use 2 or 3 times ea ( mainly feel bad for the landfill mountains ) For car liscense plates I mail it in to the state. I don't need to pay another $5 to a bank to hand me a sticker Car insurance - I try to pay the full year premium so you don't get dinged with the $5 every time for splitting up the payments. x 4 or 5 vehicles and it starts to add up
