  1. While traveling for business about 1.5 hours away I got the pleasure to stop by and fish with Farmpond1 AKA Jeff Buck. We had e-mailed and phoned for several months and had talked about an outing and although a mini one it worked out. We fished a fairly small lake / large neighborhood subdivision pond. Jeff was a great host and put us on some fish while bank fishing. Fishing with someone new opened my eyes a bunch. I tend to lean toward one or 2 favorites but Jeff tries a bunch of different ones to add to his arsenal and for when the bite is tough. I was impressed at how many different baits he caught fish with. I can vouch for Jeff being a class act. It was great to get to meet a fellow BassResource.com member The fact that he put us on quite a few 1 - 2.5lb fish was a bonus. I'll post a pick if and when I ever get it from my phone.
  2. Robert, Just courious when you first saw the thread tittle what was your first thought?
  3. Matt 5 no way that stuff breaks w/o being a bad spool. I'm using 6lb and have a heck of a time getting it to break when I get a snag. No break off issues for me.
  4. Fried Chicken? Rimshot!
  5. Literaly, Hey robert I was watching some show about gardens and it visited Gilroy CA. Apparently Gilroy is the Garlic capitol of the US? How does it work does everyone live on the east side so when the wind blows they don't smell it? Is garlic even pungent before harvested? Learn something new everyday FFI - AKA Matt crum
  6. Voted PS Hey Hook watch it because you know Russ is going to hold his vote hostage unless he gets her phone#
  7. Lightning rod 6' ML I've got a couple of them ( one gen back not the newest ones) and love them.
  8. Thanks everyone but what I was really trying to find out was... ....as the weed and feed has poisons to kill weeds in it should I be concerned about the residual getting into my food chain as a result of using the grass clippings for mulch.
  9. Hey thanks Brent, guess I never thought about E-bay for those Maybe I'lll give it a try FFI AKA - Matt Crum
  10. I have a very small garden off the back of my garage. I usualy use grass clippings as mulch. This year I used a rotary spreader to put wee N feed on the lawn. Would anyone hesitate to use the clippings for mulch? PS I may have made a big mistake. I used that last pre weed n feed clippings to mulch. They were full of soft maple whirly birds. I think I am going to be growing tomatoes and Sherwood forrest! ( bad move maybe? we'll see)
  11. Wayne my fingers are crossed guy good luck. Red you might want to go heavier as the link said when you get the Sun p that it is much easier to get it again.
  12. Hey Red you didn't say but sunburn is one thing, sunburn with that type of damadge is a whole diff deal. Sunburn and being too sick the next day to go to work is proably in a league of its own. That is kind of like the difference in getting knocked out vs getting KO'd & throwing up and sleeping a lot. I have zero medical knowledge ( other than having 5 daughters ) but you probably should have went to E/R or min a Doc Her'es a link to sun poisoning http://www.mdadvice.com/library/ped/pedillsymp400.html
  13. Does anyone else think these are a huge rip-off I still use the name brand ones I know I could go to some re-fill outfit but haven't done it yet. We hardly ever print and it is always saying low on ink. It has been saying out of ink for 3 weeks and still prints fine. I'm beginning to think HP means Hardly ever enough ink to Print with
  14. Boy, did I learn that the hard way. The grass may be greener on the other side, but you still have to mow it. And mowing always sucks, even on a big riding mower. LOL, This may be one of the greatest statements ever made!
  15. Never knew about the favorites deal, learn something new all the time You can also right click in your browsers address bar, copy it, open a word doc and save it if you want to.
  16. That might explain something a big X2
  17. Hey that's my line! LOL That's the first thing I think...please god don't let this person have a lot of offspring!!!!!!!! FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  18. I'm thinkin very very slim chance! LOL jk
  19. Bass - hang in there you are hurting but your daughter needs you to be strong. As a thought yes bass are fun but they can be tough. Don't forget the other species like catfish bluegill, crappie etc. Your daughter probably won't care that it is not bass. She if probably just happy being with dad and enjoying the outdoors. Get your confidence up with some other fish and the bass will come. If you caught trout you can fish ( those things frustrate me more than bass ever will. In your industry I don't know how prominant it is but many co's offer a few free sessions with a counselor. Some churches offer some thing similar as well. I've never been to one but they work for some people.
  20. The good news is she's available again. The bad news is another hollywood couple calls it quits. I thought her and her husband would be forever. It is sad to see considering what a class act down to earth couple they always appeared to be.
  21. I use braid for spinning. The no break off thing is irrelevent to me. If it is an issue just use smaller pund test, same for leaders just use a smaller leader lb than the braid. I have had a fair amount of trouble getting braid or Yo-zuri to break. Yo-zuri is very high break vs lb test ratio. I've cut my hands too many times w either line to pull by hand. From the bank I use a stick and wrap the line a few turns around it and pull the stick. In a boat I would use a paddle, my pliers or anything else I can get my hands on. I'm never pulling on line by hand again. As far as wrapping on guides yep it has happened. Seems to happen much more so on my BPS extreme with a BC though. Could be the MH action? As far as line twist braid solves 99% of my problems. I am experimenting with flouro leader this year to see if it afffects my bite ratio.
  22. RW this is one time I hope you are right but I don't see it. Tell you what I'll put up a FFI - AKA Matt Crum's custom homemade 1/4oz spinnerbait delivered to your door vs 4 senkos or a smallmouth lure of your choice or something. The winner gets to post his pic with the losers's ( in this case your) picture (lol). Gas must be down to $2.00 / gal or less by Dec 15th Are we on?
  23. I saw a very prim and proper clean cut young kid maybe 13 or 14 wearing a t-shirt The t-shirt said " I'm here what's your other 2 wishes? " I laughed out loud in a huge crowd when I read it That shirt was hilarious! The kid had balls lol
  24. six of one and d1/2 dozen of the other What's right is what works for you FYI this seems to be the norm for spinning but not as much for BC which makes no sense. Again what works for you is what's right
  25. I use Stren SB and have absolutely no problems with line twist. If you have line twist then you'd be doomed with mono. Like has been said close the bail by hand, don't put excess line on and make sure you are putting the line on properly. I think a smaller pound test is going to cause more problem than large under the same circumstances. Sso untill you solve your problem I don't think smaller diameter is going to help. Also a big tip I've seen is if you are using a boat is to cut off the lure & let out a bunch of line while trolling. Several members swear by it helping get rid of the twists.
