Brooklyn Dodger Johnny Podres Died Yesterday
Unfortunately, I'm old enough to remember him. RIP Johnny.

Countdown's...
The Countdown is an excellent, underused and underrated bait. It'll catch anything that swims and is very good on both LM and SM.

Need advice on which hook sharpener to get.
I have to disagree with the previous posts. There are perfectly good hooks which can be brought to a high degree of sharpness with just a couple of strokes of a file. This could apply to hooks on new lures which just need a little touching up or sharp hooks which have gone a tad dull after catching a couple. I see no reason to toss them. I use a couple of files of this general design:

Pete Carroll to Atlanta Falcons?
If the Colts' job is open, I'd be surprised if they went after Carroll. I think they're too well run to not go after a coach with proven NFL success.

Fishing a ribit frog
I use Ribbits as a topwater, like a buzzbait, under typical conditions for topwater. Most of the time it's used in or close to vegetation. I rig it with a 4/0 Mustad Ultra Point hook.

In the meantime, why not copy and paste before replying until the feature is reactivated.

is it just me or
Yes, it's slow. I brought it up a few days ago and LBH implied that it was being worked on.

Adding braid to my reel?
I think you'll be fine, especially if you can add 50 yards or more. You usually don't need more than that for bass fishing, so the knot wouldn't even come into play. Just keep adding 50 yards at a time and you'll get two or three uses from one of those 125- or 150-yard spools.

A question regarding spinning rod length
I think a 7' gives you a little advantage in casting distance and fighting a fish, while a 6'6" is a little better casting under tighter conditions. I use the 6'6" for non-fishing reasons: I like one-piece rods and a 7' is not something I can easily transport or store in my basement. But I've never felt deprived by limiting myself to the shorter of the two. Another factor is that I like short handles, and my short-handled 6'6" rods probably fish close to the same as a long-handled 7'.

Diawa Regal xi question/help pic inside
I think that's a relatively new model and maybe nobody's had a chance to use it. I've used Regals for years and have been pleased, but that's no help on that specific model.

Winter Needs to end really soon
I've lived here all my life and never get used to it. Just like every other year, I b*tch and moan and eventually spring arrives. :'(

The Do's and Dont's of fishing a Crank Bait...
Not getting them wet. 8-)

a few questions
Maybe it's true for that brand, but not true as a generality. I have various brands of M power rods with fast action. P.S. I just looked. The guy doesn't know what he's talking about. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=98372&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults

Bass Fishing Books
You might take a look at Knowing Bass, by Keith A. Jones, PhD. This is not a how-to book, but a book that is mainly about how a bass's senses work and how it responds to various conditions and stimuli.

Gimmick or Great Idea?
I think it's a gimmick, but I think it will also work, as do virtually all lures. Crankbaits work, spinners work, why not this? But I'd be very surprised if distribution of this lure will result in more bass caught.

Site has been s-l-o-o-o-w for me
Seemed to start about three or four days ago. Anyone else?

swivels or knots?
I use duolock snaps, not swivels.

Who makes the best crankbaits? What's your favorite?
I don't think there's an answer. Over the course of 38 years I've used many brand and models, most of which can get the job done. They all have properties that appeal to a fish's senses. Rapala Original Shad Rap. Don't ask me why, I just have a lot of confidence in it, but I haven't attempted to test it and try to determine if it's better than others.

braided line diameter
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it depends on the manufacturer and what each one wants to tell you. For example, Power Pro has an enclosed sheet which states both actual diameter and approximate mono equivalent.

Best thing about the BCS BOWLS
Syracuse beat Northeastern today.

Fish weight formula
Largest point of girth.

trout fishing
The answer is yes, you can catch stream trout with a spinning rod. Spinners, grubs on jigheads, spoons, crankbaits will all catch fish.

Best thing about the BCS BOWLS
When the last one is over, it's only 51 days (actually, it's more) until I can seriously start thinking about getting some lures wet. :'(

light fishing
There's this lake I've fished for almost 30 years. The lily pads were always great, but not as much anymore. The elodea among the pads has gotten so thick, that dropping lures into holes in the pads is almost a thing of the past, thanks to that plant.
