  1. Hurd did the "I love u sign".
  2. I have a few in bluegill. It's my personal favorite. If that's what they're feeding on, then you should be golden! Just like everything else... Everything else is not quite that finicky. A guy was trying to modify one on here a while back for this reason. Lures sometimes differ from bait to bait, but the margin for error on mine is very very fine.
  3. Have you tried a "walking the dog " technique?? this has been successful for me. When its just below the surface Walk it a little, then let it drop, reel in to get it back towards the surface and walk it again, repeat until you get a bite or its back at the boat. Very rarely do i actually just cast and reel. I did and actually thought that was the only action that looked the good, working it with a little slack like a spook. But again but wasnt able to connect even though they were chewing other baits.
  4. There's alot of variables to consider. The main thing (and most important) factor when fishing a river is current and how the fish are relating to it. Is it a tidal river? A few more questions. Whats the bottom composition? Is there fishable cover? Weeds? Boulders? What depths are you encountering? Do you know the forage the bass are feeding on? If not I'm sure something that resembles a craw is a good start. Personally a good ol' texas rigged worm or tube in any shade of "dirt" would be my first option. Here locally right now the fall topwater bite has just peeked (smallies). And a buzzbait or sammy is my weapon of choice. Also try to stay low and conceal yourself as well as possible, it dont matter what you throw if the fish are looking at you! Good luck
  5. I've been really disapointed with mine. You have to get the retrieve speed just right or the action is poor. Its as realistic looking as all get out, but just doesnt get bit for me. Personally I'd look elsewhere...
  6. Get the 6:4, I throw alotta bandit 200's at that depth and much prefer my 6:3.1 revo for this. If your cruising down a bank casting at shallow cover and fighting a fish in close quarters you will at times need to take up line quickly, the 5 wont cut it. Also note that the 5. reel is limited in what it can do.
  7. I have that same rod. It was the first "nice" rod I owned. I didnt know better at the time and thought I was getting an all around rod, but its a little light in the britches for alot of things..Just keep in mind if your around bigger fish/cover your not gonna have alot of control over them. I like mine for open water app's like jerkbaits and poppers, even a senko now and then. Its very light and comfy to fish. I use #10 yozuri hybrid on it.
  8. Bottum line is they will never go anywhere with wade as head coach. Credit where credit is due, the defense is good and his system works. But there is absolutely no accountability, discipline or vision as a team. The play calling is horrible. Personal decisions, with the exception of finding a few undrafted free agents have been horrible. For the last three years I've watched them beat themselves over and over. Its embarassing. The sad thing is they were in position to win both games so far and gave them away.
  9. The signature series are good reels for the money. My thoughts are this, due to the weight and not being the best 1/4oz- caster its better served as part of an arsenal with other reels. (some of the same things are said for the revered Diawa Zillion) Its not a reel thats going to excel at tip up presentations, but its a GREAT reel for rattlebaits, topwaters, etc. THe dual cast control is user friendly and is very accurate in my hand.
  10. Follow the good looking and fat guy around in the bass tracker.
  11. metal detecting, reading, hunting, older chevy trucks
  12. Thanks guys! For the record I was looking at the chronarch D. I think Im just going to stick with the E7 due to the extra line capacity/price. The money saved will go towards my first cumara.
  13. Im in the market for a new reel. I LOVE my E7, but the chronarch has me intrigued. I have a few questions: 1. Does the chronarch handle light baits much better? 2. For an all purpose rig where some loooong casts are made from time to time. Is the lower line capacity an Issue? Judging by how far I can fling a trap with my E7 I wonder if I'll spool a chronarch if I up the line size. 3. What other advantages does the chronarch have? Thanks, Josh
  14. lighsout i want to know where i can get TRILENE 100% FLUOROCARBON for $2.99 a spool?? [/quote Do a web search for green top sporting goods in Richmond , VA. It's stren, not Trilene. I thought the price was a mistake when I saw it, but no its correct. Your best bet is to call them and ask for Stan.
  15. JF- beautiful fish! The 12 is friggin strong. Last month it proved itself to me while pond hopping. I had accidentally left the drag on my beater revo sx pretty much fully tight. Was jigging a yum houdini shad directly in front of me when a 25'' fish inhaled it at the bank. The fish surged hard as soon as it was hooked but the stren held great. Since then I've dragged about half a dozen "chunks" up to 4lbs through trees with not one issue. I'd really reccomend giving the trilene/stren in #12 a try RW. Its a trustworthy flouro at a good price. Greentop sporting goods here locally sells 110 yard spools for $2.99
  16. How would you compare the trilene and abrasix? I've been impressed with stren (trilene) in #12. Very very strong and abrasion resistance has been fine, but not the best handling line Ive used.
  17. Get a spool of Yozuri hybrid or CXX in 10 or 12 and just go fishing.
  18. Whatever batsons they put on st croix mojos....Lost an insert outta two guides. That has never happened to me in 18 years of fishing.
  19. For what your looking to do I would go curado and spend the money you save on a better rod. I simply love these reels and you will too. Abu really lit a fire under shimano with the revos and the curado is a homerun at any price. A few reasons I reccomend the curado: 1. The ergonomics are great (it sits extremely low on a reel seat, is light, and the big septon knobs feel amazing). 2. It casts amazingly well. I am blown away how shimano can make a reel that holds that much line, yet still casts light baits as well as it does. You will not need to spend more money to get it to handle lighter baits. 3. Shimano's customer service is above reproach.
  20. All things being equal a reel with more line will cast farther....I have noticed this several times over the years. Alot of baits will dang near spool a low-pro. baitcaster full of line anyways. I have E7's and a revo Sx that I can cast to the point of seeing metal on the spool with a rattlebait. If I spool it half way I'm gonna lose a lure.
  21. The only other thing I may add is other than a couple 50 and 100 series shimanos, most round reels have heavier spools and dont handle lighter baits that great.
  22. save up a few more bucks and get a pflueger president. Under $50 the only reel I would reccomend is one of the abu cardinals.
  23. RW, after looking at the specs as well as T.T.'s review of that rod, I think your reccomendation is EXACTLY what I'm Looking for. I'd never considered a glass rod, but I think that soft tip will load nicely and do a good job keepin em buttoned on. It's pretty light also for what it is! The price is up there, but I might justify considering I really need a rod for lipless baits. Do you have any experince with it? Is it discontinued now that skeet is w/ wright and Mcgill? Thanks Josh
  24. Every year for the past 4 years Ive murdered prespawn females on a certain flat on Saltwater XRAP 14's. I've decided to purchase a rod dedicated for this technique. These weigh 1 1/2oz. I would also like to throw the occasional XWalk 12 (1 1/4oz) with this rod. I'd like to keep it around 7', and be light and sensitive. Any reccomendations? I want a quality stick, but want to keep the price under $175.
  25. More often than not, the graphite sideplated low pro reels are cheap to begin with. Sloppy tolerances, and poor build quality overall are blamed on the graphite. There was a guy on here not long ago blaming the poor performance of his BPS tourney reel on the graphite side plates ;D Funny micro mentioned that, I inherited a Daiwa Procaster (forget the model) from my grandfather that was the reel he used for 20+ years. And to this day it works great...Again its the design, not the matierial.
