  1. sometimes when using the frog,,i'll see the wake coming,,lets me conciously think about giving the xtra second before setting the hook,,but then, when fishing topwater, i always see the strike, never take my eyes off the bait, lost a few because i would look away,,(looking for next casting spot) right at the boat
  2. whenever my wife tells me to,,,she says fish fry,,,i bring fish,,,always selective harvest, never trophys
  3. i use the snaps,,,not swivels,,,allows me to change colors or size very quickly...
  4. the new points system is all about marketing,,,nascar does the same thing,,,to keep the fans interest and the big "dollar", in bass's pocket
  5. had similar experience, set the hook on a 3 or 4 lb'er,,broke off,,,3 min later, she surfaces about 20 yards off the side of the boat and spits my lure at me,,,,i just told her thanks,,,i was using a pop'r, glad to get it back,,,lol
  6. Matt, the suspense is killing me,,,i have to ask,,did you send a pm?
  7. lots of posts, lots of opinions, i run a 2001 19 1/2' Hawk, 200 merc, bought used for 13000, payments run 205 monthly, put enough down that it's almost paid for,,,,a boat is just a taxi,,,i would rather ride in a caddy than a yugo
  8. good history lesson,,,i didn't know that,,,lol,,,
  9. ha, yes sir, i see that the bridge is the pendleton, a little different seeing it from this perspective
  10. i understand that the bottom is a continuation of the suface, that there are points and ridges underwater, the hard part is figuring out the productive ones,,on any given day, at any given time,
  11. awsome picture, is that bridge in the indian mounds area? hard to tell where the pendleton is,
  12. a lot of info to digest, would be easier if i was on the water, visualization is not my strong suit, lol, please be patient, maybe something will click,,
  13. one thing for sure, this sounds interesting, i'll be watching closely to see if there are regional differences,,,in bait selections
  14. i am really in trouble now, i didn't get a decoder ring in my box...lol
  15. Ok, it seems to me, we end up at the same spot, no matter how you get there, 15' on a main or secondary point, is 15'? whether you relate to the channels or bank? now, once you get there, be sure to fish 360 degrees around boat. i can only guess that you use the channels, Catt, because your looking, really, for the miagration routes, breaks and breaklines?
  16. Catt, what hitmanFO says,,,,x2
  17. flechero, we're talking cedar creek, just 15 min west of athens,,,,matt, i hadn't considered wind blown banks, we stopped at the tackle shop and the man there told us buzzbaits along some bulkheads, of course there are a LOT of bulkheads,,lol..now, maybe that tells me which ones, i want to thank you for your opinions thus far, what would be the telltales of turnover?
  18. let me preface this with i'm fishing the bass champs this year and that ccr is the championship lake, oct 10th,,,my pardner and i had never been to the lake before last week, we'll be putting in at log cabin,,, i normally fish rayburn and toledo and this lake was COMPLETELY different than those, i've been told that it fishes a lot like livingston (which i have also not fished yet), i trying real hard to think along the lines of structure fishing, thinking a little deeper for better fish but not sure if this lake holds to these thoughts (sorry catt), most of the fish we caught while there came from flipping the docks, might have 12lbs last wed, didn't really go north past the iles, so i'm really thinking mid to south fipping docks but checking humps and back of clear creek during practice
  19. well, besides usc-osu,,
  20. i don't know about this weedend, but sure enjoyed the fact that some of the ranked teams played ranked teams, last weekend, made for exciting games
  21. Matt, i fished cedar creek for three days, middle of last week, are the docks the best pattern on the lake? i did pull a 3lb'er off hump in main lake, but only 1, i'm going back in about three weeks and wonder if the humps will produce in the fall? i caught the honey hole show that focused on ccr and they ended up going ALL the way back in clear creek to really get on 'em, and in august, just not what i'm used to, lol
  22. i switched to fluro and triple grip hooks,,,still let some get away, but not near as many, i, also don't "set" the hook, just steady pressure
  23. Catt, does that mean where the creek channels relate to 17' of water? i've read that you like that depth, +or-, 3'. and is it to early to start looking in the backs of the creeks? or should i not get to hung up on the depth? really value your opinion, thanks
  24. like others have said, not as much as i would like to, but i average 2 weekends a month, when not constrained by tournament time, then all day,,,,takes time to learn,,
