  3. the instinct part is where the learning curve hurts the most,,,some get it, some don't,,,i hate being one that don't...generally speaking, I assume you pick a place that you want to be around,,Housen, six mile, etc,,then a starting point,,,then a spot on a spot? a bit early, but looks like no wind saturday
  4. always interested in learning more from you, Catt, Housen or any other place on the big pond,,,would really be interested in learning how you disect your fishing areas and make moves throughout a day on the water,,,
  5. I took my 5yr old fishing on the friday after turkey day,,,put in at 6 mile, around 10am,,,no wind and the temps was nice,,,,just barely up on plane, we went to mill creek,,,went to that point i previously mentioned and set up shop,,weightless trickworm for him,, 1/4 oz texas rig for me,,,he caught the first fish,,lol,,,named him freddy,,water temps were in the 62 degree range,,fished in 16-18 fow,,outside edge of grass,,action wasn't fast but steady,,,put 12-13 pds in the boat,,,my son loved it,,,i'll be back saturday for club tourny

  11. Jack, where do you intend to put in? what areas are checking?
  12. most all Jack's info should still be good,,,i'm sure he'll chime in when he can,,
  13. I felt sure there were fish there, BUT,,,maybe presentation wasn't right,,alas, there will be another day
  14. Catt, i went to main point of mill and clear creek, sw side,,big grass bed there,,started first thing in morning with buzzbait and spooks,,from 17' to bank,,,then went to cranks on outside grass edge,,17'-15',,switched to alternating between 1-1/4oz jigs with 3/8oz flipping craw,,,finally about 11:00am, switched to carolina rigged worm,,,no takers at all,,,two other boats came in about 10:30, second one went into clear just a bit,,,boom, flipped up a keeper,,,at noon, went to main point s side of six mile, carolina rigged,,,made three seperate passes, different depths,,,no takers, from there i meandered back to six mile ramp, stopping here or there to make a cast or two..i was sure in my mind, there were fish at my starting place,,but no bites to confirm

  17. set out saturday, early morning, about 42 degrees air temp, water was high 60's, so we had one of those fog, mist like conditions over the water, and man the fishing was TOUGH,,threw every bit of knowledge and bait i had, at them,,,,only produced two shorts,,made for a long day,,,more learning to do...
  18. Catt, are water temps still running 70? With this passing front, think the fish will be tight to cover for the next couple of days?
  19. Jack, give me a rough idea where kingtown area is
  20. some of the guys said north end was really muddy,,,down on south end, didn't seem muddy to me, friends of ours caught their fish with spinners along "plain" banks, on sun,,,didn't have a dock bite, no bites at the dam neither,,although, some people said they were catching some on shallow cranks,,,some limits were said to be caught by small worms,,but didn't say docks, or shallow or what,,seems the back of the clear and caney didn't get hit to hard, but, really, hard to tell
  21. six weeks would be sweet....i'm fishing a club tourny nov 14th,,,,trying to decide if i want to go to conroe for a day, this weekend or go on up and fish toledo,,,toledo club tourny on oct 24th,,,supposed to be nice weather this weekend,,,,if the weatherman is not lying,,,,lol
  22. Jack, can you give me some ideas why they're back there,,,seems with the north winds that all the bait would be pushed out of there,,,now, back of caney would seem right,,,
