  1. Just ordered my dobyns champion 766 flip it will be here in about a week so I will post when I get it. Thanks for the heads up nick saved me 25 bucks!
  2. I don't mind spending the extra dough just wanted to make sure it was worth it. I'm mostly gonna flip but would like to use it for some frogs. Does anyone know if there's any sales anywhere on the champions. I'm gonna order tonight I can't find any but didn't know if anyone alse has.
  3. What's the difference in the 2 and is it worth spending the extra 70 bucks to get the champion. I'm looking at the 766 flippin.
  4. I was just going to order a Revo stx from BPS and was reading this post I didn't see anything about the free wiley x glasses. I haven't placed the order yet. Was wondering if it expired or happened?
  5. Thanks guys I think I'm gonna go with the savvy. And I'm gonna pair it with a Revo Stx 7.0:1.
  6. I'm looking for a flipping stix and cannot for the life of me decide on a rod. I've been looking at the dobyns savvy series but have never held one or know anyone that has one. It is in the price range of the 7'6" premier I own a premier and was wondering how it compares? Thanks for any help.
  7. The 2 rods I like that are telscopic are the kistler micro mag 7'6" and the st croix legend 8'. But I think the 8' might be to long for me. My one piece rods are carrot stix, st croix 7'3" xtra heavy and I've been looking at the dobyns savvy 7'6". Probably can't go wrong just a matter of pulling the trigger.
  8. Thanks for the help. I was wondering about sensitivity I would imagine a one piece is more sensitive because there's no seperation in the blank. The problem is every flippin stick I like the most is telescopic. So now I'm wondering if I should go with some of my second choices that are 1 piece.
  9. I keep seeing rods that's say telescopic or retractable butt section. My question is is there any difference or are they the same? Also what do they mean? Are they 2 piece rods or does the rod retract inside its self like a telescope would do?
  10. I couldn't imagine using a 6'6" for flippin. I always see technique specific flippin rods and they always seem to start at 7 and go to 8. That's why I was gonna go with a 7'3"-7'6" I figure its a happy medium. I just want to make sure I'm not losing anything by not getting a big rod.
  11. Every time I see a pro on T.V. There using 7'10 or 8 foot flippin sticks if I end up getting a 7'3"-7'6" what would be the downside of a smaller rod? The only thing I can think of is maybe less leverage.
  12. I did look at the mojo but in the st croix line I was looking at the legend series they have a 7'3" extra heavy rod that I think would work well also and 8 foot flippin stick but I think that may be to long for me. I would like to be somewhere in the 7'6" area and have been thinking heavy only because of the heavy hydrilla and frog usage. I have used st croix and like them. Never used a carrot stix or kistler rod but have been reading some reviews on them and they seem pretty good.
  13. I'm getting a Revo stx 7.1:1. But need a rod to pair it up for flippin in heavy hydrilla and grass. Also for some frog work. My question is what length power and action would be better. I know it probably Is a preference thing but this is gonna be my first flippin stix so would like some input. I like st croix but was looking into kistler and carrot stix. My price is anywhere from 150 to 250.
  14. That's kind of what I was thinking. And I definately don't want a rod that's to long and possibly akward. Just didn't know if it would help with leverage in heavy cover.
  15. I'm looking into getting my first flipping stick. My question is what does length add to a flipping stick? Another words if you have two identical rods and one is 7ft the others 7'6" what's the difference besides length if any? Or is it just personal preference.
  16. Not to jump in on someone elses thread but how is the GL2 flipping stick?
  17. I have a couple st croix premier rods that I really like there 100 bucks and they also have the premier series glass crankbait rods for 100. I haven't used the crankbait rod but I have been pretty happy with the st croix line.
  18. How is the G-loomis GL2 7'6" H med fast for flipping?
  19. I would be looking to spend 150-200. Some of the ones I've been looking at but haven't had time to read reviews are the kistler magnesium TS, daiwa light and tough, St croix premier and avid series, and the johnny morris elite series and signature series. Any feedback would help. Thanks.
  20. This is going to be my first flippin set up so I appreciate the input. Any suggestions on a good rod for the job? I've pretty much used st croix as all my other rods.
  21. I was actually leaning towards a reel with a low gear ratio to muscle them out of the heavy cover. I know most of it is personal preference but I just wanted to hear some people experiences with diff set ups.
  22. Was looking at spending around 200.any one have any recomendations on a reel and gear ratio you would get. I have a 6.3:1 shimano curado baitcaster right now on a 6'6" med fast st croix rod. I use this for most things but when I'm around heavy cover its 50/50 if I get the fish out.
  23. I'm looking into getting a new flippin set up. But had a question about the round baitcasters compared to the low profile ones and which would be better? I figure the low pro are more comfortable but the rounds seem to be more powerful and durable. I've never had a round so just looking for some insight from people who have one or both and there preferences.
  24. I'm going to just to see what they have to say about it.I hope its a quick turn around I've never had to send a reel back to the manufacturer.
  25. It seems weird to me though that these parts could be shot. The reel is new and not over used. Are they just defective parts or could it have been something I've done?
