  1. Currently fishing my 'dream' spinning set-up. Custom SCV 6'9" ML/XF with a CI4 2500. But like J Francho said, I have another dream rod on the brain. It's gonna be a SCV 6'10" M/XF extended to 7'2" and I'm gonna put a new Sustain on it. I don't really know what I'd like for a dream casting set-up. Fly? You can keep 'em, don't do that. Center-pin. Currently have a 13' Talon ITM with a silver Islander. I dream of a 15' CTS with a Paine Falls 5" DeMarco in green or olive drab.
  2. I have the Storm version. Never got a hit with one. Kinda surprising considering how good they look and how much Poorboys and Gulp don't look like a real goby, yet work fantastically.
  3. You mean like this? http://www.gobyreplica.com/GobyReplicaSwimbait_p/gr1.htm
  4. At least it wasn't a custom
  5. Built a few rods for a guy that is Daiwa all the way. He left his reels so I could match them to the reel seats. Wasn't impressed... I'll take my CI-4 and Sustain over his Certate and my old Chronarchs over his Steez all day. Come to think of it, he must not be all that into Daiwa as he has a CI-4 and a Stella too.
  6. Croix's MH is a VERY powerful stick. I built one for throwing C-rigs and it was too beefy for my liking.
  7. You don't need to spend a lot of time to figure out the main lake that time of year. head out the channel and go right towards the smokestacks. start throwing jerkbaits or tubes in 6'-14'. You'll find them in no time. You'll get numbers in the bay and an occasional lunker, but the bay can't hold a candle to the quality of fish from the main lake.
  8. There are some days when the bay is worse than the lake...I can think of a few SW blows where they bay was white-capping and I fished the lake just fine. To be completely honest, I haven't fished the bay in years......absolutely HATE it!
  9. I have some pics of it with the reel on it. I'll post them as soon as I dump them off my phone.
  10. I use ML/XF rods for dropshotting. I'd use that one for sliders, small tubes and jerkbaits too light to throw with a baitcaster.
  11. Thanks for the compliments. I hope it fishes as well as you hope. BTW, I didn't align the thread with the reel seat, that's a new wrap to trim the front of the winding check. I just happened to have the exact thread match that Loomis used on that rod.
  12. I came across a deal like that quite a few years ago. Gander was clearing out their "Classic" line of rods. Final cost was $9.98 each. I can't buy the guides for less than that. I bought 6 or 8 of them in various actions and powers.....can't remember. I kept one of them and used the rest as door prizes at our bass club Christmas parties and other functions that I felt a donation would be nice.
  13. I prefer XF rods for topwater. I have a 6'8" M/XF Rainshadow RX8 that I'm trying to build for myself......just can't find the time.
  14. I just ordered your parts today, so it'll be a little bit!
  15. I'll probably have a pic posted before you even get here to pick it up!
  16. Thanks Dwight. I got a PM from Lucky Craft Man earlier today.
  17. Favorite is St. Croix. Don't have any experience with their customer service cause I've never broke one. Guess I'm not hard enough on my equipment?
  18. The gulp stuff might dry out, but if you're careful, it will still be good. The regular powerbait worms will be just fine too. I have some that are many years old.
  19. I think I'm fishing 'my' perfect dropshot spinning set-up. Custom 6'9" ML/XF SCV. Split Tennesse grip. Fuji Ti/SiC guides. Shimano CI4 2500.
  20. Basically, they're the same rod. Both series are made in Mexico on the SCII blank with the same components. The Mojo has a split grip and the Triumph has a full grip. There might be a couple models in the Mojo that aren't available in the Triumph. Other than color, that's the only difference.
  21. I LOVE PA. When it's not open bass season, it's C&R. There's no closed bass season except on certain approved trout waters.
  22. Thanks Dwight. The pics on the NFC blog are OK, but the ones on my website are better. Here's the link to the NFC project. http://www.shfishins...arb-rod-fw-461/
  23. Capt. Frank is good, but I gotta endorse my buddy Capt. Matt. Actually, when Frank is booked up, he sends people to Matt.
