  1. SWEET!!!!! I hope you are planning to this again next year. LBH : you did a great job putting this together. Awesome idea! ;D
  2. Congatulations Russ, Chris, and Roadwarrior! Now we have 1 moderator per 1,000 maembers; plus Glenn! ;D I think that this was a great idea!
  3. I have never actualy tryed stitching but I am assuming you set the hook with the rod. I dont think that it would work to well to use your hand!
  4. Reel Magic will work. You can also use it for many other purposes.
  5. I would at least try a buzzbait. Buzzbaits have the tendancy of producing bigger fish. At least they have for me!
  6. Thats awesome!!! Congatulations! I would be really excited about that too! I hope you get to show it to your friends at school. That is so cool!
  7. As soon as I sense a fish, I set the hook. If you wait too long the fish might spit the bait out or swallow it. If you jerk it away from the fish it might come back and hit again. That is why I set the hook as soon as I sense a strike.
  8. [glb] Great topic! [/glb] I also have to say that the thing that makes me better is time fishing. The more I go fishing , the more expirence I get, the better I become.
  9. Roadwarriror: I totally agrree with the big bait big fish theory. I normally fish for numbers in the ponds that I go to. There are not many 4lb.+ fish were I fish, If I know I have a chance at bringing my bait past a big fish, I will use a biger bait. If you know there are no big bass in the pond, You might as wel up your catch by using a smaller lure. Kayl: I also like the worm rival. I use the brown colored ones. I have caught some huge bluegil with this bait. I will have to get some black ones. Thanks for the tip on fishing them.
  10. You have inspired me to change my signature.
  11. It is starting to get a little late in the year for bass fishing (up north). I have not had very good sucsses this time of year in the ponds that I go to. I have had most sucsses at dusk. I would recomend trying a small spinerbait fished fairly slow. No bites, try fishing a 1/8oz or 3/16oz jig. Remember not to fish to fast, and don't use a bait bigger than 4 inches. Hope you catch some!

Avid, I would use a 1 ounce tungsten wieght. If you have trouple getting a baby brushhog through the mats, you can cut the little things on the side off to make it thinner. Tungsten wieghts are smaller so you can punch trough easier. Like Paully siad, A 3 inch craw will work. One of my old mags : Professional won event flipping a 3 inch craw type bait with really heavy tungsten wieght. Good luck!

I like the zoom baby brush hog in watermelon red. Peg the wait while flipping.
  14. Not enough. I have about 6 ponds that I have gotten permision to fish. I dont want to fish those too often so I dont upset the owner. (Have had a bad expiereance) My uncle usually takes me up to Presque once or twice a year. Thats always a lot of fun.
  15. I wouldnt use a hook bigger than 2/0. Offset hooks work good for this. The reason for the small hook is so the bait floats better. This is important for carolina rigging.
  16. I also know a way to get back at them. Ignore them. It is probably the hardest thing to do, but it is the best thing to do. I would continue fishing there and comletely ignore them. Retalyaiting would just make the situation worse. If they continue to bother you consider finding a different lake, or pond. Good luck with these disrespectful people.
  17. I dont think that the fish were green just because they were in shallow water. There is probably a lot of weads in that pond, thats why the fish would be more green.
  18. I would recomend trying a 4 inch senko. Fish it wiegtless on a wacky rig. A wacky rig is where you hook the worm right in the middle. (Thank rebbasser for pic)
  19. I would have to say around 3.1 pounds. Nice catch.
  20. I am the Pond Pro!!!!!!!!!! ;D 8)
  21. Get some spinnerbaits from wal mart. There is usually a box of them for $1 each. They work.
  22. Yeah, the September 2004 issue of Bassmaster mag had a 4 page atical about lures that attract and trigger. It was basically the same thing you have been writing. The last section of it was titled "The right blend" Here is a link to it if you feal like comparing. http://espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/s/b_fea_bm_0409_attract_trigger.html
  23. Thanks for all the information. Bassmaster magazine should have consalted you before writing their "Lures that attract and trigger" artical. Great Job!
  24. With a worm I set the hook as soon as I feel somthing different. Use the size 2/0 or 3/0 for that size worm. When I use EWG hooks (which i do a lot) I skin hook the bait. This alows it to remain weadless but when a fish bites I usualy hook it. If you do jerk it away from the fish when setting the hook, a lot of times he will follow it and strike again. The main reason that I set the hook quick is to avoid hooking the fish deap.
