  1. Without a doubt it's a great reel, I have enjoyed mine. My only complaint is the lack of line capacity. I agree completely. Performance wise, I can't say it's much better than the 50 MG... just cooler looking.
  2. Another stubborn Team Depends member. $50 says your boy will fish frogs with braid Flechero. ;D I have no problem with braid, or anyone that uses it... I just don't like it for me. He might love braid... but he won't find out until he gets a job, earns some money and buys it himself!! ;D ;D
  3. I think you'll appreciate that more and more over the years! Remember that just because the pretzel was great and her top pick, that doesn't mean the show wasn't "very good" in her eyes! You only asked for the favorite. :-X ...lol
  4. In over 40 years of bass fishing I have never had this problem before. Well, to keep things in perspective, There probably wasn't a time in those 40 years that you had access to data from 17,000+members and their friends. We get info now that is better than marketing studies of years past, just from member input. We have an international cross section of the fishing public from beginners to pros. As a side note on the guides... the batson tips aren't bad, they are just not as stout and durable as the fujis. Hit the tips a couple times and inserts get loosened. It just takes more abuse to knock out a fuji insert... but I see a lot of them knocked out as well. (that's why most tackle shops and sporting goods stores carry tips and the tip kits) Although I am much more careful these days... I have knocked out a 1/2 dozen or so tips in the past.... both fuji and others. It happens.
  5. Regardless of the posts above, let me suggest that you replace your tips with Alconites (or even Fuji Hardloys) they are an upgrade, more durable than the Batsons but are still under $3 each.
  6. It's my buzzbait skirt. Rigged bushy, like the second pic. (but don't tell anyone!)
  7. yep, still looking... have a message to russ*** to see if he can get the right color. True, I got that batch from Gulf Coast Tackle about 7-8 years ago... I had trouble finding them back then. A friend who was traveling through the area called and said he found some- how many did I want... I took all of them. (about 40 or so) I'm down to the last few. :'(
  8. I'm looking for input from guys that have and use the inflatable pfd's of any make/model. I plan to buy auto or auto/manual. I have considered them for several years and just never bought... this time I am going to buy. I'm looking for any and all advice, pro's con's etc. What makes some more or less comfortable, etc. And in cold weather, do they adjust to fit over coats and heavy clothing? Thanks!
  9. Seriously, it doesn't count if you never post a picture. Really, Kent, an occasional picture is a good thing. Decent digital cameras can be found for pretty cheap. This comes up a few times a year... buy a camera! If you don't, I just might mail a letter to Mrs. roadwarrior and suggest it as a Christmas gift! ;D
  10. Do you mean besides the sponsorship dollars? Frog, I don't think you are meaning to come across as a arrogant, but you really are. I grew up fishing north and east texas... call it open if you like but I'll bet some serious coin that there is as much slop as anything you fish. Just because I don't use or like braid, doesn't mean my water is any more or less open. ...lol And just because you can't do it without braid, doesn't mean I can't... I have for many years.
  11. And that's why it's called slop. ...lol The point is that you can find slop in every state... ours is as bad as yours. Suggesting that all mono users are ignorant goes a shade or two past stating your preferences, don't you think?
  12. Very, and I do mean VERY carefully use a dremel tool to cut it off. You'll have to make 2 cuts to get it into 2 pieces. You shouldn't have to re-wrap the keeper. I would make the point of the check my stopping point. You'll never be able to make it all look perfect unless you completely strip it and essentially start over. I'd use a new razor blade and cut the finish in front of the check so that when you remove each half, the finish doesn't peel with it. As for finishing off the newly exposed area, you might just marble some epoxy.
  13. Frog, You probably should have qualified those remarks. Lot of guys here that only fish mono and have no trouble with slop, frogs or 7' rods.
  14. Thanks, Munkin! They look the same, I bet the are as good as the old ones... Now, to see if he can get them in blk/wht.
  15. I make all mine... and only use exotic burl (Lamar) these days. If I remember correctly, most of the guys here turn their own grips.
  16. maybe I read it wrong but it actually sounds like you need to go down a weight to 4 weight line...sound like either your rod is slower action or line is too heavy, making it throw like a wet sock. http://www.superbob.org/CC.htm check your rod, flyrods are commonly mislabled so this will tell you exactly what you want to know.
  17. I know these are old school rubber skirts but I really want a handful of them. (I'm nearly out of my old stash- and they are starting to dry out) Anyone that can make them, I'll gladly pay top dollar. Nothing crazy, just black over white... white being longer. Anybody? Thanks, Keith
  18. No problem. Actually many builders suggest a coat of wax on the blanks. (at least the shiny ones!)
  19. I'll be following closely! Looking good so far!
  20. I would suggest the very opposite. Regardless of what so many people think, sensitivity is completely independent of power. The power of the blank does not change the fiber's ability to transmit vibration. Many people think that a delicate tip, or just a lighter tip is more sensitive because they can see it move... that's not sensitivity, just a weaker tip. If you just go by the function of the blank's taper- I would argue that the heavier power rod is actually more sensitive since it is less likely to dampen vibration in the tip. When you feel something and are unsure of what you feel... one of those times when you can't tell if it's a very subtle bite or brush- what do you do? Do you look at the tip or close your eyes and feel? A lighter rod may "show" movement with no transmission of vibration. Sensitivity in a rod is something I define by feel, not sight. I'd even take a heavy over a med-hvy to worm fish... because I think the lighter rod dampens more. keith
  21. I won't go near it. My wife checks up on our nieces and and nephews... and her computer has been infected with so much crap we had to have it cleaned up several times.
  22. Gary / Kent , Glenn must Pay well. ;D Not to mention that the BM is pretty pleased with your contributions to his 401K.
