Are there any good swimbait rods in the 7' and under range?
Im looking into a swimbait setup and can't fit anything over 7' in my car. Are there any cheap(under $100) rods that could work for tossing swimbaits around 1/2oz-2oz? Thanks in advance!

Mann's Stone Jig-Mike's Special?
Thanks for the info! I was actually thinking of using this color for a baitfish imitator, and throwing a smoke single tail grub on the back, I want to learn how to skip and pitch skip with casting gear, I have read that these jigs are perfect for that. I have just recently ordered two of these jigs, one in the Mike's Special color and the other in Black and Blue.

Sebile Spin Shad
I have seen those and think they are awesome looking. I kinda wanted to try adding a spinner blade to the back of a lipless just like that. I would have to drill a hole in the blade, and add a swivel to the treble hook, but I think it would work.

my first jig fish
Good job man! I just recently stuck my first jig fish too. You should check it out, its smaller than what you caught, but a jig fish nonetheless. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1265319086

Mann's Stone Jig-Mike's Special?
Has anyone used this color jig with any success, if so what trailer did you use, and what were you trying to mimic with it? Thanks! Here is a link the color combo: http://www.***.com/descpageJIGMANN-MSJ.html#pImage

Stuck my first jig fish!
I just felt weight on the end and set the hook, and FISH ON! Last week I had one as well, same thing, I felt weight and set the hook, fought it to 2ft in front of me and came unbuttoned.

Here are a couple pics of the fish I got today on my jig. I was working a jig for over a week straight and this is the result. What do you guys think it weighs?

I'm having some reel issues here.
I have the same problem with my Abu Garcia Silver Max. Every now and then the thumb bar will not reengage but the crank turns and the level-wind goes back and forth. The spool stays still. I have taken my reel apart for oiling and tried to figure out what was happening but couldn't figure it out.

Got my first jig bite, lost the fish...
I have told myself that I should fish a jig exclusively until Im comfortable and confident in my jig fishing abilities. As for the scent I use Bang Pure Crawfish and I slather it with that stuff. About fishing at Tri City, im there almost everyday cuz its so close to my house. Im down to meet up at Tri City if you wanna check it out, I can show you some spots that have produced for me. But that would have to stay between you and me... :-X pm me when you want to go.

Does anyone know where to get swept reel cranks and drag stars?
I really like the look of the swept handles and drag stars, I have a couple reels that have the regular handle on them and want to switch them out for the swept design. If any of you could let me know where I could find these parts that would be amazing.

What size hook to use when Wacky rigging Stick baits
Most of you may think that this is too small, but I use either a size 1 or 2 (not 1/0 or 2/0) owner weedless wacky hook or the owner mosquito hooks.

.set up help for a rookie
With my limited knowledge of bass fishing, I just started as well, I started last year. What I would use your set ups for are as follows: 1. This could be your flipping rod, its too heavy and fast for cranks 2. Worm and jigs 3. This is your crankbait rod 4. Light T-rigs, or anything too light to throw on casting gear. That is what I would do with those setups. You will probably get more detailed answers from other more experienced fishers. Hope I helped you out!

Got my first jig bite, lost the fish...
All the great answers are greatly appreciated! I went fishing today to the same lake I fish, pitching to the same submerged xmas tree and got bit twice. I have a problem with my reaction time with setting the hook, I feel that I analyze what is happening on the bottom too much. Maybe I need to work on instinct and not think too much... It literally felt like the fish was chewing on my jig and I was trying to figure out if it was a fish or not and didnt set the hook until it was too late...

Whats with the big craze about Beaver Style Baits?
I feel your pain on these baits, I have some the Berkley Beasts(small) and BPS Tiny Beavers. Fished with them, no results yet. I think your main problem is fishing from a ' 10" jon boat ' i think ten inches is a little small to fish from, unless you are fishing in your fish tank in that ten inch boat... ;D

Jig and Worm line?
Thanks for the responses so far! I use casting gear for jigs and worms, I fish city lakes mainly and there is sparse cover and a lot of fishing pressure. Im thinking about picking up some 12# Yo Zuri, I have not had trouble with this line ever. Also I was contemplating straight fluoro for these applications, if I went the straight fluoro route what pound test would be beneficial given the circumstances and conditions that I fish?

Revo SX
Considering I have two of them already, I highly think that is accurate. I have owned them since October of 2009. My local Pro Shop always has them in stock, although they sell like hotcakes. Now this may be true for big stores such as Cabelas, Bass Pro, ***, which I know still stock older model Refvo SX's until they sell out or get close to it. How do you like the new Revo SXs? Are they better than the older models, casting wise? I have read on this forum that the older SXs can be a little problematic at times. Also do you have the 6.4:1 or 7.1:1 or both, which do you prefer?

Shimano Chronic 100B ?

High Speed reels?
Thanks for all the great info guys. I was just asking mainly because Im expecting a new Revo SX(2010) and its 6.4:1 and I dont know when Ill be getting it. I ordered it in Nov. The rep has told me that he has a high speed if I wanted it. Im trying to decied whether or not to wait or just take the high speed that he has offered me.

Revo SX
I have heard from a Pure Fishing rep(which owns Abu) that they are not going to be releasing the 2010 Revo SX's until they deplete their stock of 2009 and earlier models of the SX. Another little tidbit of info that I got is that the new 2010 SX are going to be considered 2010/2011 and will be released over the next few months. Which sucks because I have special ordered one when I went to the Bass A Thon show in Anaheim in November and I still have not gotten it yet... I got a free Vendetta rod for buying the reel though, so that kinda makes up for the delay(not really...). Just sharing the information that I have.

Got my first jig bite, lost the fish...
Rod: 6'6" MH/XF Vendetta with a Silver Max(I have a Revo SX on its way...) Line: 10lb. Yo Zuri Hybrid I already had the weedguard trimmed to a little past the hook point. I ended up cutting out some fibers after I lost that fish. I plan on thinning out the rest of my jigs. After losing that fish, it has increased my desire to become a better jig fisherman.
