  1. Glenn's video is very informative. As for the lumaflex skirts they're awesome. I ordered a bunch of them from Basscraft and am going to use them this weekend.
  2. I don't personally use spinnerbaits with a trailer hook. I only use trailers such as the rick clunn twin tail trailer and it has always produced fish for me. Don't see why I would use a trailer hook at all. However I heard that trailer hooks help catch short striking fish.
  3. I believe the sedona is the best reel in that price range not including sales on more expensive reels. For that price range you can't beat what the sedona offers. I have 2 sedona reels, a 1000 and a 2500 and I've had them for about 6 months and still as smooth as when I bought them.
  4. hey get some X-raps. XR-06 and 08 have caught me some nice bass.
  5. hey you should go with a slower reel that has a gear ratio of 5.1:1 or something in that range. This is to allow your swimbait to be in the strike zone longer. Just my opinion.
  6. hey guys I have a question at this time. I am in the market for some spinnerbaits looking to buy some for prespawn bass fishing. My question is what type of skirts do you guys recommend? silicone or lumaflex? I heard lumaflex imitates baitfish better but I want to know the expertise of my fellow board members. Any suggestions would be helpful. :-)
  7. you have to burn off that guide with the broken insert. Then replace it with a new guide and rewrap the guide again.
  8. I heard that comment from a similar thread posted in this website a while back. If you search for it you will find it.
  9. hey just to let you know both H20 and lucky craft lures are made in the same factory with the same components just a different name. As far as results go I don't see any difference. I catch the same amount of fish on both company lures. I would go with h20 because their lures are cost efficient.
  10. Here's my take on this. I'm a custom rod wrapper and I believe like you guys that a well maintained rod can last over 10 years. However the answer to the question about rods weakening is not because of the manufacturer, it is the fisherman who determines the durability of his rod. A rod is only a tool for which to catch fish. Here's a link that will explain why rods break and how to care for rods. http://www.rodbuilding.org/library/rodusage.pdf
  11. you should buy the huddleston weedless trout swimbait. Never get hung up on me. heres the link: http://www.***.com/descpageSWMHUDDLE-HD6WT.html they also have the huddleston weedless grass minnow: http://www.***.com/descpageSWMHUDDLE-HGM.html
  12. you should go on rodbuilding.org and ask those guys.
  13. yea it's been professionally cleaned but I would want to upgrade it. I also have the 153 hst reel as well and is there more options for that reel or is it the same as the 150h
  14. hey you should buy some of those strike king sexy swimmers. Of all the swimbaits in that class size that's the most affordable swimbait that can catch fish of all sizes. This is my swimbait of choice.
  15. Hey guys I've been looking online and read about this concept called "supertuning." It's supposed to help your fishing reels improve casting performance and durability. Now I wonder if anyone can do it on this website? I would like to improve my team daiwa advantage 150H reel. It casts good and is still smooth but I want it to be better. I want to do it myself but I don't know how to do it or where to start. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  16. Hey guys I'm going fishing at El Dorado Park on Saturday. Anyone want to meet up down there and we can fish and chat. Always looking to learn from others.
  17. that is an excellent rod. Bought one for my brother on thanksgiving and he's loved it. I bought the 7' medium heavy fast action one and my brother uses it for spinnerbaits. Well worth the money
  18. hey I had 2 all star rods and they're okay though but they're made cheaply. The spine of the rod is not even lined up with the guides and reel seat. If you ever use 20lb or more on one of their poles and you catch a big fish you will see what I'm talking about. Go with shimano man their things are way better.
  19. 1. Spinnerbait 2. Senko 3. Strike King Sexy Swimmer 4. Lucky craft Pointer (size varies) 5. Strike king red eye shad
  20. hey you should try those H20 express lures. I heard that they are getting great results. They're supposedly made from the same company that makes lucky craft lures. You should check them out.
  21. phenix blanks are the ones that I custom wrap. They're pricey but well worth the money.
  22. yea that's right El Dorado Park baby. But why do you want me to stay away from the shoreline. During spring I caught my first bass there using a rapala xrap XR08 in greenish color. I just want to know what would work right now because I've thrown almost everything and still no bites.
  23. I use the Diamond Two Rod Finish which costs from $15 to $40 depending on the size you want. I know it's expensive but trust me it makes your rods look so much better. The guides will look nicer and remember that it is your own custom rod so why not spend a little more money to make it that much better.
