  1. here's a simple test you can do. Tell one of the sell associates to help you. Have him hold the tip end and you hold the rod like you're fighting a fish. Then tell him to pull the tip end down and pretend that you're fighting a fish. The way the rod bends it will tell you the action of the rod. For example if it bends 1/5 of the way near the tip, it's extra fast action. A fast action would be about 1/3 of the rod bending, medium would be half of the rod bending down, and finally slow action would be the 3/4 od the rod bending, and with slow action you don't really have any power to muscle in big fish, it's used in vertical jigging and other saltwater applications.
  2. it's a really good swimbait. For $10 it's an excellent swimbait. I've caught a good portion of my fish using this swimbait. I either use this or the sebile magic swimmer. Both are very good and have good action.
  3. no don't spend money on lucky craft. Those rapala x-raps are very good for the money. I've always have to bring a couple with me in case. About the lure going up when it suspends, I don't think so. Never happens to me. Anyways stick with these x-raps. You won't be disappointed.
  4. yea it's a very good line. I'm not fully committed to it as of yet, because I also use seaguar abrazx and invizx. But it's a very good line, and very cheap for a good quality line.
  5. You should also check out the bass pro pro qualifier reel also. It comes in a 4.7:1 and 5.4:1 gear ratio.
  6. use invizx. Trust me you will be happy you did.
  7. here's the difference in my opinion, glass has a slower reaction time compared to graphite meaning it takes a little longer for glass rods to load up and therefore with crankbait fishing, it allows you to set the hook better.
  8. I love berkley trilene big game mono. I think it's better if you use the curado 301E for heavy mono in the 20-25lb range. But I think that 10-17lb line would be perfect for the curado. I have the 200E7 that I use for weightless and texas rigged plastics and I spooled it with 14lb seaguar invizx and it works great for me.
  9. go with the citica. Best bang for your buck.
  10. which curado? I have the 200E7 and the 200E5. Is there a new one coming out?
  11. I don't know about you but I hate quantum reels. I would obviously go with the curado in my opinion. The 200E7 is great for worms and spinnerbaits. I use the 200E5 for my crankbaits now. Overall a way better reel than the quantum. You can usually find it cheaper, around $135-150 in the flea market or something.
  12. I like using a medium action for my weightless plastics like senkos and flukes.
  13. great job, and excellent rods. Now put them to good use.
  14. I like to use lipless cranks if your time is limited.
  15. X2 I also have great success drop shotting flashtrix, and that fishbelly hawg shad for halibut, and other species.
  16. I think those swept handles are nice. When I saw the steez first came out I was in love with it, but knew that I could never afford it. Anyways I did the next best thing and bought the daiwa exceler which comes with a swept handle and I love it. Now I'm thinking about buying one of those abu garcia reels, but d**n it's expensive.
  17. hey can you get me some? I'll pay for it.
  18. hey guys I need with installing the carbontex drag washers. There's a big and small washer. So what order do I put them in. I put in the small one first and the big one on top, but then the frame won't close correctly. Please help.
  19. that reel sucks. Take it from me, I bought it for my little brother and he couldn't really get used to it. I tried the reel, and it sucks. It doesn't cast far at all, and it is the reason my brother hates baitcasters now. Anyways if you're looking for an old reel to fix up, check out abu garcia ambassaduer reels. I heard their old models, after supertuning, are magnificent fishing reels.
  20. hey guys how bad is rain water on fishing reels. I mean fishing in the rain and you know how it gets all over your reel. Are there any adverse effects?
  21. like the comments on top, go with spinnerbaits, jigs, and worms for your small pond with weeds. In the lake with muddy bottoms try a crankbait that when you crank it is touching the bottom or swimming really close to the bottom.
  22. hey those phenix rods are nice. Especially those Ultra MBX series. They're light, and very sensitive. I custom wrapped a spinning a 2 baitcasting blanks from that rod series and man I love the feel it gives me. I use one of the baitcast for fishing soft plastics, and the other for fishing spinnerbaits exclusively.
  23. the pro qualifier is a great reel, but is not in the same class as the curado. I think the best buy would be the citica because it's fairly cheap and is almost as good as the curado. Only thing that the curado does best is casting weightless plastics. So it all depends on the type of fishing you're going to do. I love my curado E7 for worm fishing. SO FREAKING LIGHT.
