  1. use it on a jighead. To me it is basically a jig without the skirt, and you just have to put the weight you want on it.
  2. wow very nice custom rods. Too bad I'm getting out of the hobby.
  3. yes go with the shimano citica if you can. It's a great reel and like all of shimano's reels are newbie fisherman friendly.
  4. I'm using a shimano citica reel for this.
  5. what? Man I haven't caught a bass on my red eye shad so far this year especially during this time. The same time last year I was getting bass to hit it like crazy, but this year, it's completely different.
  6. man my year started off good and now it's going bad. I've been skunked the last 2 trips including today. Aw man my biggest was a 4lber. Man this is very disappointing
  7. OMG! those are the nicest crankbaits I've ever seen. Keep up the great work.
  8. X2 on the sufix performance braid, I like it better than power pro. I like the lo-vis green color, works really good for me.
  9. steer away from okuma reels. I've had bad experiences with them. Go with shimano, daiwa or abu garcia, you'll be better off. For spinning reels look at the shimano symetre(around $100), sahara($70), and sedona($50). These are really good reels for the money.
  10. watermelon w/ black flake, green pumpkin, and junebug
  11. I use a swim jig on my spinnerbait rod. They're both pretty much used for the same reasons, but I like using the swim jig when I want a bigger profile or present a different offering to the bass.
  12. I think they are worth the money. I like to buy the deeper ones that will run at or as close to the bottom as possible because I want it to dig into the ground and stir up a commotion. It's worked dozens of times for me. I like the norman crankbaits for this reason.
  13. yes the curado is a great choice for a reel. And what do you mean by pikesnogle that the curado can't cast light weight baits. I use it especially for fishing weightless plastics. In my opinion it is a very good reel.
  14. excellent choice for a crankbait reel. I promise you won't be disappointed by it. It's my go to crankbait reel right now.
  15. I think it depends on the conditions, but lucky craft pointers are halibut killing machines. It also catches other fish also, but halibuts are the ones that we in southern california target the most.
  16. micro guides are the way to go right now. It's a huge improvement in casting distance at least for me. I custom wrap my own rods, but I don't think it's much different from factory rods. You're also pairing it with a curado 200E7. Man that combo will be SWEET. ;D
  17. use a rapala DT crankbait. I love using them to trigger strikes in rocky lakes.
  18. it's a really good line. Although if you like to fish in areas with a lot of rocks or trees then go with abrazx. But invizx is very good. I haven't used the 15lb test, but have used the 10 and 12lb test on my curados and it's my go to line. I like it a little better than yo-zuri hybrid.
  19. Here's what I do first. I always throw the crankbait that will dive to about the water depth that your lake is. Suppose your lake is 10 feet deep then throw a crankbait that will dive up to 10 feet or more. Then if I don't get any bites, I throw a shallower one and work up from there. It's always produced bass for me. Also don't forget the difference between square billed crankbaits and regular crankbaits. Makes a lot of difference especially in cover.
  20. I'm from Long Beach, CA where the big bass are. ;D Anyways thanks to everyone here for the great tips. I understand now how to skip and will be trying it out pretty soon.
  21. okay great advice guys, but how do I skip the bait. I'm very accurate with the side arm cast because I love fishing spinnerbaits and I always make the softest presentations as possible in my local lake. So how do i skip a lure. Do I just do like what I do for pitching?
  22. hey guys I would like to know how to skip fishing lures. I've seen it in videos and such, but I don't know how to do it. I can flip and pitch, and therefore would like to learn how to skip to make me a better fisherman. So please any tips would be helpful?
  23. here's my opinion on this reel seat. I have built a few rods with this reel seat and a few ones with the ECS reel seat, and I prefer the ECS reel seat better. It all plays into how you hold your rod. The ACS reel seat has those ribs on the back and it gets uncomfortable for your palm after a while, but the ECS is comfortable all day to me. Others may have their opinion, but this is mine.
