  1. Since I don't know your region or location. What was the lake temp prior to the week long cold front? After the cold front? What did the warm front do to water temps? Heres the deal. Even though you may have a 60 degree day with lake temps sitting at 50 degrees, How much would the lake warm with one day of sunshine? The key to remember is, the sun is getting further away in the fall and winter months and the NIGHTs ARE LONGER which means longer cooling periods and less sunshine means less heat. We start having longer nights and short days. It really depends on the water temps. Warming trends definetly trigger some feeding activity. Just don't assume that just because you have above average winter temps the fish will be active, it takes alot of heat to warm gin clear waters. Lakes start to warm up when the days get longer and the nights get shorter and the sun is nearing our part of the hemisphere again.
  2. Those times could indicate cooler water temps. The only times it seems to be a bad time is summer, which means some higher temps. Spring, fall, and winter indicate possible cooler water temps.
  3. Maybe certain conditions set up the bait fish for them to be in that cove. Only Catt and mental notes would be able to evaluate the situation. Moving baits, reaction baits seem to be the ticket in Catt's cove which normally would dictate some type of feeding since they are willing to chase a trap. Any certain wind conditions that set this cove up? Times of the year, times of the day, any keys to the puzzle?
  4. Lane Kippen has nothing on the "ole ball coach" when it comes to one liners and bulletin board material for other teams, Spurrier reigns supreme when it comes to gamesmanship. Some of his statements to other Universities. To Florida State: Free Shoes U. for the violations in the past. Georgia Tech Coach, Ray Goff became Ray Goof when refererred by Steve. Or to Philip Fulmer and the Vols, You can't spell Citruis Bowl with out UT in it!!!! Which is given to the second place SEC team, normally Tenn. Or when Manning returned for his 4th year, Spurrier replied, Well, you can't spell Citrus without UT, and Manning is after his 3rd Citrus Bowl MVP trophy. Alls I know is, Florida hadn't won an SEC championship in the 57 years untill Spurrier showed up, and that changed the SEC for ever. In late 89, Spurrier signed with Florida and the next season, the SWAMP was invented and the rest is history. I give Spurrier heck since he's been at USC, but have utmost respect for what he has accomplised in a short career. Taking Dukes program, yeah, the one that amassed a few losing seasons back to back from the grave and T-1st in the ACC was one of the best turnarounds considering we aren't talking Duke basketball. Didn't the ole ball coach start the season off the same way as years past? with some gamesmanship, he left Tebow off the all sec list.
  5. If an ump sitting in a booth was seeing the TV views on most of these calls like the fans are, there would be no delay, not anymore than there is already, beep the ump and tell him to change it based on TV ump in booth, no need to have the ump go see the call, thus just tell him they screwed the pooch and over turn the call. Sorry, in todays market, they show ten times more games than they did in the 60's and such, back then, there was no cable or TV revenues to garner and the games weren't broad cast to 50 states and 100 countries either, it is now days. Sorry, the game changed because of the owners and money, I see no reason it can't change for the better after watching the 100 terrible calls this season that required one view only, the original view. LOL, two bad calls in the 4th inning by the same guy. Live broadcasts will always try to give the fans the best view the first time.
  6. Whats sad is, that wasn't his worst call of the game. The fifth inning beat the 4th by a mile or two.
  7. For the many you will ruin or could ruin, it would be cheaper to just buy the right baits for the job. I have used a dremel and taken some of the wide portion of lips and thinned the bill, added coffin corners to some of my bills for deflection. I also dress my lips when they get dinged up. A dremel will smooth those lips and make them aero dynamic again. Change a few hooks, split rings, add some red for gills, added some suspending dots, but now days, theres enough suspending baits on the market that do what you want the first time. I'll buy a new bait.
  8. This is the playoffs, the Championship is on the line. Get it right the first time. post season, regular season, just get it right.
  9. Ditto the traps, sexy shad, and Tenn shad.
  10. Over rated compare to who? Rivers? that just shows that wins are what counts. Since Rivers came into the league, he has been #2 in stats, and how has that proven Eli is over rated? What it proves is, stats don't tell the WHOLE STORY, Eli has the Ring!!!!!!! Not too mention the 11 straight road wins on the march to win the Super Bowl against the 18-0 Patriots. Eli beats Brady on the biggest stage, and he's over rated? ;D ;D ;D ;D
  11. The Bizz just made the Jay Leno show tonite. That pretty much sums it up, he gone nation wide, he's done gone and got even more famous now. 8-)
  12. I'm sure Art appreciates the raise.
  13. Always been a Horns fan, but never had a reason to be diehard Longhorn mens fan for b ball, that is until Rick Barnes showed up at Texas. It was football, Lady Horns basketball with Jody Condradt and onto baseball with Gus and now Augie. I watched some mid night madness the other night. Go Big XII. Hookem
  14. I think baseball forced Marge Schott out and the NFL got rid of Art Modell . Art was continuing to claim financial problems, even with a no cost stadium lease that brought in then an estimated 25 mil in parking and concession revenues. NFL asked him to sell and he did to his minority partner. Today, Modell still owns 1% of the team thats worth an estimated 600 million in todays market, so thats about 60 million. Not a bad 1%
  15. I am sure you designed the garage for the boat? Congrats on the new house.
  16. Most transformers hum, whether they are a step up or step down transformers , no matter whether its 1000 volts or 5 volts, no matter if its on a telephone pole secondary grid or a $5.00 peanut transformer in a Sega Train track set. It don't matter if you have 20 chargers plugged into the same outlet either. Its not the supplied voltage causing any issues. You can eleminate each one individually. You can remove the leads individually on each battery to see if it disappears. Every battery has individual leads from the bank charger or individual chargers. Just remove the postive wing nut and remove those wires on that battery, if systoms gone, you have isolated the problem .
  17. I have still have some and catch fish using them on certain bodies of water, and they are purple with an assortment of colored tails, yellow, white, pink, orange.
  18. We have seen a few more hoover/air boats on the Rio Grande, they have to fish parallel to the banks, they don't maintain steerage way to place the nose of the boat into canes and maintain position to tie lines in and under the canes lying over the water. They'll climb the falls easy, but once your off the gas in moving current, you have loss of steerage way. The only place to get jets for years was out of Cali. at San luis Obispo. A cracked shoe in the 90's for a 40 hr was 500 bucks. Not cheap to maintain if running rough waters all the time. We do run some rough water and climb some falls, and that takes big cajones. Funny, the older I get, the more aluminum I squeeze from the sides every trip up and down the river now days.
  19. if the charger is setting on the boat, you may feel the small transformer of the charger, they'll hum and feel like vibration at times, just like the one next to your house, they hum and vibrate at times. You can't leak or lose ohms. Resistance can break down over time, but not in the manner that was mentioned. Ohms is nothing more than resistance. Is it possible to build an EMF with charging of 5 batteries?, I'd say so. Ever walked under a power line and had hair stand up? Or get that tingle feeling?
  20. You have to fish the Owners Invitational on Lake Norfork at least once. One of the funniest tournaments ever. Also, join the owners forum. Just like this one, except its made up of Cat owners.
  21. yep, he may be, but he has a ring, and he don't care. And winning 11 road games in a row that year to win the Super Bowl. Shows just how over rated he is. Or leaving the SEC and playing for Ole Miss and leaving there the 5th all time QB of all time in the SEC, and thats saying alot considering the passing machines that Spurrier had at Florida before leaving for the NFL. Yea, I'd say with the genes in that family, he's over rated too.
  22. With all the technology and terminal tackle available now days, most plastics can be fished thoroughly in all parts of the water column, and that don't mean they are the best choices for the situation or most effective. To me, when the water temp drops below 55, the only plastic I will use is a jig/trailer or tx rigged craw. That is just my style, I realize with dropshotting and other finesse presentations out there, you can target some zones with plastics that weren't available years back. I also don't like plastic in muddy conditons unless its noisy/rattles/ displaces alot of water due to bulkieness or creature style and is scented, normally, again, its gonna be a Craw or jig and craw combo cause fish feed from their lateral line in muddy conditions. All these baits and terminal tackle are just tools in the tacklebox, and special jobs require special tools. Its hard to get plastics to walk like a true Zara Spook does. It hard to get plastic to mimic a trap. Just because fish are chasing bait does not mean the only effective lure/baits are hard baits or spinner baits. In some cases, yes, in some instances, no. Magic shads/flukes/swimbaits all work on active feeding fish sometimes.
  23. That round was first used and issued by Russia. Its very similar to a 30-06 in ballistics. Known and used by snipers in late 1800's. The nickname of that round is the "russian 30-06". One of the few bottleneck rounds still used by the military. This round was ahead of its time.
  24. Welcome to the BassCat family. Matt
  25. Has that playoff appeal. 2 heavy weights teeing off on each other. Thus far, Brees has the early round. 7-0
