Big 12 Tonight: Nebraska at Missouri
Went to bed with 1:47 to go in the 3rd. WOW One of the best defenses against primary passing teams that run the spread is wet weather. I'd say VT was blessed as well, it was monsoon rain in that game and the Mizzou game looked no different.

Big 12 Tonight: Nebraska at Missouri
Big XII North is better than you think, and they are a big win away from making noise. As for Kansas, they have veteran QB, Todd Riesens, who a few years ago, beat VT in the Orange Bowl and was 12-1 for the year, and his wideout is still with him. They also beat Texas the last time we played them in Kansas with the pass. Last year 8-5, Todd has big game experience and this is college football, anything is possible. Mizzou has proven there has been no hanger over from losing Chase Daniels, Jeremey Maclin, and his TE Chase Coffman from last years team to the NFL. Tigers won 10 last year and 12 the year before that. Back to back bowl wins. These teams have quality wins the past few years and are better than most think. Texas should worry. Go Big XII North.

How 'Bout Them Broncos!
Everybody seems to like Drew Brees, so do I. Whats that have to do with Mr. Orton? Well, he broke most of Bree's records at Purdue. I always liked Orton. I also think the Bears were a run, run, run team and let the defense win the game and never had great talent at wideout position like he does now. 97 passer rating speaks for his performance and 4-0. Nice thus far.

What do you think about the elite series "postseason"?
Lets clear it up alittle. Winner walks with 200,000, loser of AOY in 12th takes 14,000 home. As of years past, AOY paid 1 place. Not counting the money up for grabs at the 2 post season tournament as well. Over one mil up for grabs, no entry fee. Skeet ended the season up with 2043 points, KVD had 2033 points in second place Swindle was 12th and had 1740 pts. All totals was divided by 10 and rounded off. Skeet had 204.3 KVD had 203.3 Swindle had 174 Next, for the season, any tournament wins got 2 point added to total. Thus final adjustments would show KVD as the actual leader coming into the post season based on the one win. KVD 205. Skeet 204. and Swindle still at 174 with no wins for the year. Next, a points format was set up for 1st threw 12th. 50 for first and 10 points for 12th I liked it. If you didn't notice, there was about 5 guys tied for 5th when they were rewarded their 2pts for winning a tournament with 180 points. When it was said and done, was there any doubts who was on top of their game, even spotting the field a bad day, he smoked them by a good margin. Good format, too short a post season.

Winter time bass fishing
and great post Catt.

Winter time bass fishing
If Catt doesn't mind, most southern bass that reside in deep bodies of water go deep for two reasons in colder water. 1. the bait is there 2. deeper water allows a bass to move up or down in the water column to adjust for sudden pressure changes, ie.... the many cold fronts passing every few days. Bass that live in the shallow part can't adjust, thus inactive for days. One word Catt didn't mention is dead sticking, the art of just letting the bait set there with no movement imparted to the bait at all. Dead stick a spoon about a foot or two or more below a pod of bait and let it sit there. It will look natural to the bass, shad die very slow, and in the winter, water is at its densest point, which means things sink slower, so a dying shad will take minutes to sink slow, thus dead sticking spoons and other baits slow is key sometimes. I also don't think bass feed on shad the same way they do in warmer temps. Instead of chasing and corralling the bait, they just follow the pods and wait for the shad to die off and sink, the shad hatched in late August or even Sept. most likely will not make the winter, thus bass don't have to work for meals, they let them sink to them, using as little energy as possible. So you can see tiny baits work as well. I know KVD has a Sexy Spoon in !!!

Texas fishing this winter?
Yes, he is, he is also a successful FLW stren angler who qualified for the next level last year, I think it was his first year on the Stren series as well. But he has some excellant reports and articles on his website and from his posts on the forum.

Dry firing a gun?
The answer to the original question applies only to rimfired ammo, that is where the casing is struck on the side of the casing and not on a primer cap. To answer Jack's question, in the military, dry firing the weapon is good way to familarize your self with a gun and practice aiming. Lots of guys who are required to stand a watch on the Quarterdeck that have never held a gun before entering the service. We take the .45 caliber pistol and put paper on the wall with circle the size of a dime on it. Put a regular sharpened pencil in the barrell all the way in the barrell, placing the end of the pencil about an half inch to 3/4's and practice firing. The pencil leaves a dot, show how you squeezed off the round. We teach the sights and such, By dry firing pencils, you will notice that by looking at the dot the pencil makes, if the person is putting too much finger in the trigger and pulling it off on his squeeze. Great teaching method before the range. Lots of things you can correct with this trick before the range. Saves ammo and allows the person to become very familar without ever putting anyone in danger while teaching. I can tell alot from the pencil method, enough to correct a person bad habits before the range.

How 'Bout Them Broncos!
How Bout them Broncos. I think a few fans thought Cincy game was luck and not sure of their team. I can assure you, them Broncos got some game, and I never thought the Broncos win was a fluke. Good teams find a way to win, and thats what Denver did, no matter the caliber of team you play, Dallas finds a way to lose, not the sign of a good team.

BASS Reduces Co-angler's Limits to 3 Fish
Going to a 3 fish limit is not an issue for Co anglers, they are there honing their skills and craft. This does not fix any problems. The boater still has one well to put his 5 fish in. and 5 dinks are not normally issues, but going to Falcon and (5) 8lbers in one well would be an issue. How does limiting the co's limit to 3 stop over crowding in the boaters side?????

hemphill texas p.a.a. tournament
Catt and I sat off a boatlane one day and lost count of the pros that zipped by during one of the Stren events. We had picked a mid week day to come out and have that big pond mostly to our selves, Wed. I believe. After Catt recognized a couple of the boats, we knew what was up. LOL, a few even stopped to check out Catt's bent rod pattern. I think Harrold Allen took 2nd overall, was taking some 26 lb stringers to make a check the final day. Stren had full field, and the Big Bass Splash kicked off Friday, so you had a butt load of boats on the Big Pond fishing for big money and the Pond kicked some toads out with all that pressure all week. 8-)

How 'Bout Them Broncos!
X2! I just want to watch Jerry Jones cry....Even the Cowboy fans hate him.... Yep, I hate those 3 Super Bowl Trophies he's added to the Cowboys Trophy case. Thats 5 total. Some fans like to hate Jerry for firing or letting Tom Landry go the way he did. I also see the other owner as throwing Tom under the bus. New owner, new management, its life. RW, Was working and didn't see the game yesterday. Normally, playing at Mile High means throw out any past stats with these two teams. If I have any positive spin for this season, we have come out of the gate fast the past 2 years with Romo and ended the season on a bad note. I also realize that you don't add 6 new starters on defense and expect to see results immediately. Maybe we peak in Dec in stead of PUKE in Dec. At least we have had two winning seasons as opposed to 10 losing seasons, thats some progress I guess. Hookem

Cedar Creek Resivoir - Fayetteville Texas
Sorry, I was working First Monday Trade Days in Canton. I like throwing a chartruess pepper 6-8" lizzard Tx rigged. Always liked the discharge flats on the edge by the fast current. They still selling Waterdogs at the general store? Big waterdogs was the ticket for toads, but it cost ya a fortune, cause the 4-5 like them dogs too! Good luck at the Championships.

Texas fishing this winter?
There is some great power plant fishing not far from Fork. Monticello, Bob Sandlin, Welsh, and Cypress Springs are 1 lake with 3 dams. About 15,000 acres total for the 4 lakes. Alot of the guides on Fork work these lakes in the winter for numbers. Lotta locals from Fork hit those lakes for the spawn and numbers. Some Toads come from them, Monticello, at one time was the State record home. Big bass in any one of those, and beds will show up end of Dec. I believe.

Texas fishing this winter?
You can get some spawners on Falcon in late Dec and Jan if the winter stays mild like it has the past few years down south. Tom Redington has some great posts on Fork in the winter.

Catt, Houston has very good team, but Leach gift wrapped that game for the Cougars. Fourth and goal, late in the game on the one yard line. You take the 3pts and make the other team go the length of the field and put the ball in the endzone to win. Leach blew it. In the end, Houston earned the 3 points to win it.

Reality, Texas always has one hickup, most teams do, its not easy going undefeated in a season. You don't see many pro teams hit 12-0 mark either, so Thats reality!!!! The only way Texas plays is to go undefeated. One loss and we are out, even with a bunch of two lossers, we are out. I don't see an undefeated non bcs team playing for the title, even if the only ones undefeated are non bcs teams. Won't happen. Would have loved to see BYU go undefeated, they would of had the best case for non BCS team thus far, would have been interesting to see how the season played out with all the big dogs taking hits. Woulda, shoulda, coulda. lol Go get'em Catt, no respect for LSU! Alabama's win over VT looks very impressive. Edge to Bama as the team to beat thus far. VT should thank God for the rain on Saturday. Play that game on fast turf and that could have been the other way I believe. I'm worried, Tim Tebow will now make another historical speech. And the rest is history. Tebow wins it ALL! Some very good football thus far this season. Hookem

Shad are on the move, time to watch the birds moving to gain better understanding of Shad movements daily. Bass won't be far behind.

Surely ya'll are joking about these teams in the polls. I don't see how ya'll can blame the Houston and BSU and TCU's. They beat quality BCS opponents. Those guys win and these guys just lose. OU USC Ohio St. Notre Dame Cal Penn St. Ole Miss Georgia Okie State VT Miami Eventually, you gotta put someone therecause all these teams are losing and making it easy for them to move up the polls.
