  1. Same has been done to the pro game. You don't see the comebacks like days of old when Roger Staubach made it look easy.
  2. Never heard that term used to describe surface conditions. Please, give locations so we know the geographical locations of this lingo, and please give us the why its called cheese.
  3. I have caught LM all the way to Iraan, Sheffield from Amistad on the Pecos. I can't say now, but when all the drilling stopped in the late 70's, the Pecos cleared up some, cleared up as in alot of the brine water that was being released into the river by truckers ceased and fishing got better because the river filtered out. Mainly rough fish survived. Been duck hunting on the Pecos since the 70's, great hunting. Also, 2- thirty year floods helped clean her up as well.
  4. CCR Fayettville Texas???? are you from Fayettville? CC is great lake, learning it can wear on ya.
  5. You still can't beat a bic or an electric butane pocket lighter. NO AC outlet and no bottle messes in the boat. Use the soldering iron for fusing larger worms and appendages on creating new designs at home.
  6. The ole ball coach hasn't shown much in 4 years. His recruits have had plenty of time to show up in his program. I'm starting to see it may have been the players and not so much the systems at Florida. 4 years at USC, 15-17 in conf. play, 3 bowls, 1-2, one 8 win season. McNutt is the one to watch out for. , He may be the one to beat from the SEC this year.
  7. Freshwater mussel and clams need two things, good oxygen content and some current. Found in rivers, lakes, resorvoirs, and streams. Lots of info can be assumed from knowing beds. Just part of the food chain and plays its role at times during the year.
  8. Greg said he found the areas in practice on sight. Remember, the rivers were clear during practice, thats when he observed the several different species of bait in the water. Greg also mentioned throwing a swimbait in the clear water and having success in those areas during practice.
  9. Fishing for a Cure. Good luck, and thanks for caring.
  10. I like to concentrate on the grass beds that are windblown as well. Early morning, I will always check inside grasslines if the grass parallels the shoreline. Outside grassline late morning. I love to fish afternoon grassmats with the wind blowing into them.
  11. Why yes, I was paying close attention. Enough to know that Greg said any over hanging limbs close to the water with rock meant mayfly hatches. Those with soft bottoms meant lots of small fish. Better fish was found in association with hard bottoms. The key to winning tournament was location of "SWEET SPOTS". Greg used 20 rods. Greg said bass would be hitting the buzz bait for 5 minutes and they wanted that no more. Ike was making 3 cast paralleling the banks and switch baits. Greg was doing the same. I remember early twitters day one, Ike covered a 100 yards in 5 minutes, with 10 baits. Greg put all his eggs in the basket at the classic, went against the grain and went largemouth hunting. Not this time. Greg noted, prefishing, that the he saw 2 inch ghost minnows, blue gills, warmouth perch, and crawfish in the areas of mayfly hatches. Greg said he didn't know if the smallmouth were rising up to eat the larve or the baitfish was eating the larve. The different baits he used, covered the many species feeding in those areas. That same pattern could be duplicated in thousands of areas to catch small fish, keying in on the "sweet spots", hard bottoms was key to catching keepers. Gregs choice of baits just mimiced what he saw in practice as to which was feeding on larve. Knowing the baits wasn't the key to winning the CUP, knowing where to use those baits was.
  12. Are you raising money for cancer or just providing special outing for the kids?
  13. First off, look at all the great SEC QB's over the years. Think about Spurriers days at Florida and all the numbers they put up. Last time I checked, Eli was ranked 6th all time in the SEC, his brother Peyton, was ahead of him. He's got pedigree for sure. Eli won 10 straight road games that year and the Super Bowl on neutral field. Something about ending the NE winning streak as well to earn that ring. He earned it, and I'm certainly not a Giants fan.
  14. Very important to learn to use the Flemish knot or loop knot. Tieing directly to the bait with hard knot kills the actions.
  15. There are pros and cons to sterile bass. A lot of pond owners feel its easier to maintain the population of a pond if bass don't reproduce. You never have to worry about over populating or crossing.
  16. My biggest is 8lbs, wtrmln/red. But this guys is Sharelunker 398, 15.5, bait, 5inch black and blue senko.
  17. Some strains of Florida bass have been made sterile, so they don't cross. Google sterile florida bass, tons of info on such.
  18. I'd love to hear why you think a few extra inches of rod makes your back hurt? What do the rods weigh with out reels? do you have same reel on both rods? Your talking inches. Had L5 cut on in 1988. Wear the back brace on rougher days for sure, any support is better than none. God only gave us one back, take care of it.
  19. That aTm site is the first one I go to. Great site.
  20. Fact, what my Dad taught me to do is fish for supper. I won't starve if conditions ever came to that. Not everyone fishes for the same reasons. Second, tons of pollution into our waters is done by EVERYONE. Ever seen dry creeks that people use as dump sites? Major rains flush stuff into the water from miles away. Not soley done by fishermen. Some of that pollution comes from storm drains in the cities, runoff into creeks and then into our lakes, rivers and streams. Saw the same thread on another forum, the guy bringing it up is smoker, he called the kettle black, funny thing was, his buddy busted him for throwing his butts in the water. Too funny. "pass it on"
  21. Same here. This is the only site that is slow. I just figure its me at times.
  22. So, for those in the game, promote the sport, and those that love to fish "pass it on". Simple enough!
  23. Take a kid fishing, the smile is all the reward I need. Good on you man. He won't forget that ever.
  24. Thanks, I had forgot about that. Picked the remote up and gf gave me the look, switched to ABC and she said, oh!!!! Jennifer Nettles
  25. I have kept a Storm Wild eye swimbait bait tied on. You can cast them a long ways which is very important, striper spook off very easy. You can very the retrieve for desired depths. Color depends on the conditions and seasons. Most cranks work as well. Soft baits like slugos, flukes are good also.
