  1. I have 2 Excalibur's with the "counter-rotating" colorado blades. 1/4 ounce I believe. Don't think they are in production anymore, but they are my overall favorites, and I catch the most fish on them. Or, is it that I catch the most fish on them, so they are my favorite??
  2. http://myfwc.com/Recreation/WMASites_Tenoroc_index.htm Teneroc is outside of Tampa, but walking the bank lakes are limited in the city. Lots of small ponds around. Just keep a rod in the car and start looking when you are out and about. Ever think about joining a club where you could ride as a non-boater? Good way to get out to some great lakes.
  3. Try just to the south of Brown's Point, near two mounds (actually right between the two) created during a drawdown. Lots of fish in there right now (last two weekends anyway). Move in and out depth wise till you find them. Was catching them mostly on super flukes in watermelon red with a 1/32 oz. weigthed hook. 3-4 foot of water was about right last weekend. Also might want to flip the pads in the same area. If you get into the green gorilla snot under the surface, move till you get away from it.
  4. Shimano Crucial CRSDX72MH gets my vote. I've used my nephews', it works well for shakey heads. It is designed for drop shotting, so I'm thinking it's a safe bet that it does the job there as well.
  5. Ditto. I'm sure the Suffix Braid is quality stuff as well.
  6. I think someone said they are the same blank. Same material (sc ll) anyway. Just a different finish and of course the split grip is used on the Mojo's. I have 3 Mojo's, including the 7' m/f spinning rod. I like it. Oh, and I believe the premiers are made in Wisconsin, the Mojo's are made in Mexico.
  7. I concur. I wore a Nike shirt today. They are not sponsoring my life - unfortunately - but I still wear their clothes.

  9. Ditto. Love the Calcutta and the Cardiff has been very dependable. The Cardiff 100 is really light for a roundy. Also use a 5000 regularly. Have a couple 5500's, but they don't get out of the box much.
  10. Just saw one on the All Star site that might suit you. 6', mh, fast action with pistol grip.
  11. Let me know if you try the Serrano. I have been toying with the idea of purchasing one, mostly because I have been toying with the idea of purchasing an Okuma CX Rod - looks like they might form a strong team. FYI, there is a rebate on the Serrano, $30 back, I think it is on their web site.
  12. The Alberto is a beautiful - and functional - thing. I always used the double-uni until last summer when my nephew showed me the Alberto. It is extremely neat and tidy, which really comes in handy fishing the flats where I almost always use a leader. And I would put it up against the double-uni strength wise any day.
  13. 4 inch senko or a zoom finesse worm - june bug, watermelon, and/or black. Not necessarily in that order.
  14. I need a pistol grip to do it right. I have a 6 foot mh Bionic Blade from bps. Does a pretty good job, but the 5 1/2 foot Daiwa I grew up using was even better. It was medium action and I was more accurate with that give in the tip of the rod. I had the notion of taking an old 6 1/2 foot rod, removing the handle and replacing it with a pistol grip. I just seem to be more comfortable with longer rods, so thought I would like to try and finagel something a little longer than 6 foot. Maybe one day I'll try it...
  15. http://www.myfwc.com/RECREATION/FW_sites_FMA_index.htm At this link you can scroll down to Hillsborough County and open a pdf giving info. on the urban ponds program, and a map as well. There are lots of great (mostly very small) ponds and lakes in North Tampa/Lutz/Land O' Lakes. Throw a rod in the car and drive some of the neighborhoods. Any ponds without a "no fishing" sign, get out and cast! Heck, if it looks good enough, don't worry about the signs.
  16. Ok Roger, you are either really mean (cuz you know I am now going to be throwing sideways swim baits for hours on end) or a complete genius. I am thinking genius - we'll see after Toho this weekend. What kind of retrieve do you recommend for the swim challenged hollow belly?
  17. C'mon! Sideways!? I am in a very gullible state, please don't toy with me. I have caught 1 fish THIS YEAR... Really??
  18. Nice one! Berkley Hollow Belly? What colors do you like in the soft swimbaits?
  19. 6'6" Ugly Stik Lite is what I used for a long time. Worked well, especially with braid when fishing hydrilla.
  20. I use a Mojo 7' Heavy rod for frogs and it doubles nicely as a pitchin' rod when the frog bite ends - if there was one. ;D
  21. The Revo S and Citica would be my choices, they can both do the job. I have one of each, both throw lightweight lures pretty well. Having said that, you need to consider the rod and the line in this equation as well. Lighter lures do better with a rod that will load up some. And I am able to throw further with braid as opposed to a heavier mono.
  22. Since you mentioned topwater as well as cranks, how about the Powell Spook and Trap rod? It is only at Tackle warehouse I believe.
  23. Wow- where did you find them for $70?!
  24. I have been using the BPS Extreme Woo Daves 7'4" split grip rod and a Revo S with 15 lb. trilene flourocarbon. The rod is medium action, casts a country mile. I'd say it's a fast tip. The medium action is the key, don't like moderate for ripping out of hydrilla myself, but the medium lets me play a fish nicely. Powell has a Spook and Trap rod, I think it's exclusive to Tackle Warehouse. I just broke my topwater rod, so I may give that rod a look and I'm sure I will give lipless cranks a go on it as well.
  25. Even if some big wig from BPS does notice this thread (ya right), they are also going to notice something else. Most who complained about the out of stock merchandise, ended up buying other items. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, but from the company's perspective, what they are doing is working.
