  1. If I could figure out a easy way to tie that nail not, there is no doubt thats what I would be using, but for the time being and what and how I fish the Uni to Uni works fine.
  2. Wrapped this one up yesterday and put one coat of finish on it so far. Its nothing fancy just a Batson ISJ 783 that is for my 12 y/o nephew to learn how to baitcast with. I didnt go into much detail or work on it as I am sure it will be broke before the year is out. The kid is ROUGH on equipment to say the least ;D Hunter Green guide wraps, Hunter green and Pearl White Matallic Fades in between the split grip.
  3. Uni to Uni is what I use too. Only thing I have found is that you need to keep the braid and mono.flouro close to the same diameter of the braid, if the mono/flouro is to large sometimes the braid will cut the mono/flouro at the not. I generally use 20/6 - #8 Flouro - 30/8 - #10 Flouro.
  4. I build spiral wrap casting rods with the spine the same as they are on a spinning rod.
  5. Great blank choice and awesome work. Functionality of the rod is key, bling is second. Looks great!!!!!!!!
  6. I fish braid for everything. My favorite is Suffix braid so far with Power Pro being a close second. I am currently trying out Tuff Line XP and so far so good with it.
  7. I like P-Line CX Premium
  8. Is the Evolution a thin diameter like the CX Premium? Just wondering as I normally fish #6 for soft plastics but with the CX Premium I was able to step up to #8 because of the Diameter.
  9. Great looking rod, and AWESOME thread work!!!!!!!
  10. I use 20/6 on all spinning gear and 30/8 on all casting gear.
  11. 6'6" MH Fast Action, 2000 series daiwa reel, 20/6 braid
  12. I have tried about every small diameter braid out there and IMO 20/6 is about as low as I like. Anything lower and it tends to slip through the tiny opening in the eye of the hook, catches on split rings and frays real quick.
  13. Looks awesome, and great work!!!!!!
  14. I bought one of the baitcasting reels 2 years ago, and I think I used it a couple of times. Now its used as a last resort back-up reel. I wouldnt even reccomend one at the sale prices that dicks has them for. I cannot stand that real.
  15. Thanks Raul, I have heard that too, I am just trying to find out if there sealed drag or not, and if they come with a spare spool. I do a lot of Kayak fishing so my reels are prone to dunking and the sealed drag is a great plus in spinning reels for me. Spare spool would help too, as I dont think you can get replacement spools anywhere for them anymore.
  16. Anyone here use these or know anything about them? I have found them on clearence but cannot find a single review on them anywhere or detailed specs. Thanks
  17. First off I am not sure where the heck to put this, if this is in the wrong place, sorry please move it. Anyone here ever do any online buisness with a company named Ramsey Outdoors? If so what was there service and shipping like? They have what I want, at a good price and free shipping, but I have never done buisness with them before, and am skeptical on giving them 250 bucks for a first time purchase. Thanks
  18. What are the diameters of the Gamma? Are they normal size for the # test, or are they a thin line like PLine CXPremium?
  19. Any idea where to look for this? I just googled it and came up with nothing. Tommy
  20. To those who might be new to the world of smallie fishing, or just like to view DVD's, videos of smallie fishing techniques, there are 2 good DVD's and 3 VHS videos from In-Fisherman that are very good. The DVD's are: (14.95) Strike Zone SmallMouths Early Season SmallMouths The VHS are: (these are out of print and on-sale for 4.95 while supplies last) SmallMouth Bass: Americas Greatest Fish Stalking SmallMouth Bass in Rivers In Search Of SmallMouth Bass All the videos are close to an hour long and have some great smallie action on them. I don't think any smallie guy would be disappointed with any of these titles.
  21. You sure can, and thats what I do.
  22. I use and like them, my only complaint with them is, in the rocky rivers I fish the paint on the heads doesnt hold up as well as others do.
